  1. Just returned from St John on 10/22 and Cinnamon Bay is under construction no water , chair rentals or food stands . Do not know when the work will be completed. I went with my 81 yr old mom and could not stay long because there were no chair rental so we left and spent some time at Trunk Bay. If it was just me I would have stayed at Cinnamon Bay it was so much prettier then Trunk.

  2. Just returned from a repo cruise and had select dining with reservations made at time of booking for 6:30 only had to wait one time for about 15 min. If we did not like what was on the menus in the dining room we would eat in the buffet. No problem at all.

  3. So this is weird. I have called my "vacation planner" twice now over the last month asking for a call back. He hasn't returned any of my calls.

I decided to cancel the reservation, however, going through the cancellation button and confirmation screens online does nothing, the cruise is still booked. (cruise is 4 months from now) final payment date is 3 weeks away.

After trying twice, I decided to contact the Captain's Club as I have Elite status. They said they can't cancel a reservation but they could transfer me to someone who could. The fellow they transferred me to said he couldn't cancel the reservation that I had to speak to the vacation planner. (the guy who hasn't returned any of my calls in the last month).

    What the heck?

I've never had this problem before, although this is the first time I have used their "vacation planner" as I usually do it myself online.

Any advice on how to get some action here?

    Thanks,

I had the same problem with a vacation planner they told me it was locked and I had to speak with the vacation planner to make any changes . I was within a few days of final payment and decided to not cancel. After final payment I was able to speak with anyone. Will NEVER use a vacation planner again

  4. Boy, charters sure seem to be taking over the cruise industry. While I understand the money factor, it sure leaves those of us who don't partake in those activities with fewer choices.

Why don't cruise lines designate certain ships for charter only? That way we won't book cruises that are pulled out from under us after all plans have been made, and even paid for.

I would try to stay a way from ships that book a lot of charte cruises. The Summit has so many cruises that are charted so I wouldn't take my chances with them unless it's a repo cruise .

  5. At one time, i know for sure they had it in the US..our friends did a bus trip from fl west coast to visit a new ship on the east coast. It was a sales promo...

We also ran into this on Royal or Celeb from Fla,,,,

It was so poorly organized at the port that all those waiting to board for their cruise vacation had to wait in the terminal until the day visitors finished lunch and were cleared off the ship.....so our lunch was delayed!

Sounds like it works much better elsewhere! And with Concierge Class getting the embarkation lunch...they might not be able to offer lunch....

I've done the tour with AAA Cruise years ago we had to provide ID for clearance.

  6. wwcruisers - thank you for your condolences! I wish that Celebrity would adopt a policy that they will not accept charters after they begin to accept bookings from the public (and especially from loyal Captain's Club members).

There must be some kind of agreement with the charter company that they do not have to finalize the charter until the charter company goes through a pre-booking process to get some feel for being able to fill the ship. And I suppose the charter company does not want to do this more than 18-20 months in advance. Therefore, Celebrity accepts bookings knowing they will probably cancel the sailing (and screw up their most loyal cruisers' plans). I don't really understand this kind of business ethics.

Smooth Jazz Cruise 2018 Inside Cabin $ 2450 pp ,

Single Inside Cabin $ 3,650. Need I say more.

  7. I'm having the same problem with refund as well. I found a cheaper price with an online site and wanted to cancel with Celebrity. I called at 3pm and it is now 5:11 pm have not received a call back. If I booked the cruise on line myself instead of using a celebrity TA I would not have this problem. They're telling me the reservation is locked by her and only she can access the booking. After reading what you had to go through I decided to not cancel the cruise. Final payment is 7/18 and I don't want to tie my money up. You live and learn.

  8. We tried to go the WJ for breakfast this morning although it was too busy so ended up back in American Icon. There was only a short queue and we were seated quickly.

Breakfast was pretty good but very slow again. It took 25 minutes for our cereal / fruit, 30 minutes for a cup of tea then 45 minutes for the food. It was hot when it was served.

There was someone seated behind us who was rude, obnoxious and very demanding to the waiters and was served within 10 minutes, in fact she was seated served and left before I had even got a cup of tea. It does appear the louder and ruder you are the quicker you get served and this should not be the case. People should be served in turn and there is certainly no reason to have such a lack of manners.

The waiter did advise there are just too many people on the ship for them to serve and they are having to work 18 hour days as a result. That's really not fair on the staff to expect those working hours.

This morning we haven't really done much just had a lazy morning and been updating my blog.

We had planned to go to Johnny Rockets for lunch but unfortunately it was closed. There is no sign showing the opening times but have just checked the cruise compass and it doesn't open till 2, which is a bit late for lunch for us after eating breakfast early.

We then tried to go to the Doghouse although that's closed till 1 so have ended up in the Windjammer which is busy with cold food, brilliant!

You should never be rude to your servers although she received prompt service for being rude, who knows what was done to her food they could have spit in it put they're private body parts in it etc.
