  1. I received a move over offer for a cruise, the offer is a free cruise, refundable OBC for the amount I paid for my current cruise, $200 pp allowance for any travel expenses we will incur for canceling. It’s really last minute. Can anyone explain if they have taken an offer to move over? I can’t talk to anyone, there is just a email to respond to. Thanks for any help.

  2. I can tell you from what my husband and I just experienced your parents will love your kind and thoughtful anniversary gift to them! No matter what cabin they are in they will cherish every minute! We just returned Sunday from a MSC cruise, our four boys surprised us about 6 weeks before sail date. They wanted to make it special for our 30th Anniversary and booked a Yacht Club cabin which was a lot more than we needed, nevertheless it was quite a treat! I’d suggest an excursion or two for them! But I think you have done more than enough! Please report back on how much they enjoy their 2nd honeymoon cruise!

Ok, so I came on here for some advice because our parents love cruise critic so much and we need advice on what to do for a surprise cruise for our parents! The short story is this: my sister and I have bought a cruise for our parents 20th anniversary and we have a little extra to spend on it after the fare and we need some advice from people "in the know".  My mom and Dad took a cruise for their honeymoon 20 years ago and they loved it...they have been talking about it and reminiscing for 20 years about it.  Their plan was to take another one this summer, they have been saving for 2 years and they put a down payment on it last summer.  This has been a hard year financially and in December they decided they couldn't afford to take it. 😞

The problem is, they had already bought the plane tickets and they can't get a refund on it.  So their plan is to go to the port city (Fort Lauderdale, Florida) and try to find a place to camp (they are hoping to only spend $500...on a 2 week trip!).  They are trying to be excited about it but they are so disappointed and not really looking forward to camping in Florida in June.  So my sister and I had both already been saving money (her for a car and me for a senior trip) and we kicked it up into overdrive this year and managed to save enough to buy the cruise!  We just bought the tickets and we have a bit left over to spend and this is where we need your help!  What would you suggest we do with the extra?  What would you want?  What can we do to make this the most magical cruise ever?

Here are our thoughts...They are in the cheapest stateroom category...we could upgrade them to an Oceanview?  They were going to stay in an interior room originally so I know they are ok with it but is an Oceanview a lot better? We have already prepaid the crew gratuity so, in theory, they could take the whole cruise and not have to spend another penny...but we could just give them onboard credit if there are other things to buy onboard?  Do most people go to the restaurants that cost extra?  We could prepay that for them...or do most people eat at the free food places? Any other better ideas that we don't know about?

As you can see we are out of our depth here! Any thoughts or advice is greatly appreciated! We are so excited to give this to them and we want it to be the trip of a lifetime!  We are telling them next week and we want to have everything done and ready to go so we have to decide what to do quickly!

Also, if it helps, we have about $600 extra to spend and the cruise is the June 10th Caribbean East/West Adventurer on the Caribbean Princess.  SORRY this turned into a long post and THANK YOU in advance for your help!

We are onboard this sailing 🙂

The YC Director is Rafaello (Italy) who is charming.  The YC Maitre D' in Le Muse is Mauricio (a total hoot!!!) and the HD is Minoj (India), also a delight (but always running around!).

There are 2300 total pax onboard, with 53 (including one toddler) in the YC.

Our biggest discussion is to WHY the cruiseline showed this sailing as fully sold when in fact it's less than 1/2 capacity.

I’d like to know why they show cruises a sold out.. also! They are sending out upgrade offers left and right.. at a small ( lol) price! Let us know if you find out why they are doing that!

  5. Can you use the OBC to purchase Wifi once you get onboard? Does the Wifi package cost more or the same if you pre purchase?  Thanks

  6. After a long day sauna and steam were a daily part of my cruise experience! I am so disappointed they are only available for a fee on the newer ships. I have continued booking the Emerald class ships but the itineraries aren’t always what I enjoy! With the Elite perks one by one disappearing seems less of an advantage to be loyal to Princess.

  7. I received the same email from MSC. There is no mention of the port fees refunded for skipping St Thomas. Will it be adjusted onboard? I’m frustrated… price dropped on my sailing, no adjustment but with promise of OBC  but not noted on invoice and cabin changed to guarantee. What’s next?

  8. I  reluctantly was very positive (bragging) about a my dealings with MSC. Well my booking in January has a few changes..  first price drop and forget getting an adjustments or OBC and it was substantial too💰, next the cabin I carefully picked has disappeared 🌬..Magically I am now in a guarantee, then they have dropped St Thomas  which is why I booked that particular cruise. So I am in the frustrated at MSC club..it’s no Yacht Club either. 🤷‍♀️

  9. My cruise dropped in price 2 days after I paid final payment. Boo..I called and asked for an adjustment or even OBC. After a few minutes of back and forth I was told because we are Diamond hubby and I each would get OBC. Now.. I asked for a new invoice showing that, but, she sent one  the OBC $ was not  noted on it and she said it will be credited once we get on board. I am not feeling real confident about that. What do you think? By the way I’ve had just minutes of wait time when I call them. Thanks

Wow, I sure didn't experience the poor customer service on my MSC Meraviglia cruise. Of course, I booked and pre-planned the cruise online, so no personal interaction with the MSC office. And the crew onboard was fantastic and would go above and beyond to please. Excellent customer service onboard, imo. I believe MSC Meraviglia is a newer MSC build, so she was "new & shiny". I thought she was a beautiful ship but I gave Celebrity Edge the "edge" (no pun intended) because she was beautiful AND innovative/modern. However, the spa & thermal suite on MSC Meraviglia wins over the Edge, hands down. But MSC wins on price & value. To be fair, I'm comparing 2 newer, more modern ships in the MSC & Celebrity fleet. I can't comment on the lines' older cruise ships. I'm booked on MSC Meraviglia again and have a bid in to upgrade into the YC. Fingers crossed 🤞...

I agree 100%. ! Our Meraviglia cruise in August couldn’t have been better. Customer service excellent! Crew super! I also do all my own booking online.
