I need to grab my notes, but then the dogs will wake up and want their breakfast followed by coffee and cookies with us while watching the increasingly horrifying news. So back to this later. It looks like we are going to have a beautiful sunny day here in Ontario. I will get started on my report today. After our 2018 cruise I did a report but had very few notes. I think I did better this time.

    Until Later

beautiful photos, thanks for sharing. We were on this cruise with you and are also self isolating for the next 14 days. On our flight back to Toronto a couple behind us coughed for the majority of the flight. I was surprised at the lack of health checks leaving FFL and arrival back into YYZ. No wonder this virus is spreading so quickly. We are glad to be home and will feel much better once the 14 days is up. Take care of yourselves and thanks again for the pics!

  2. My husband and I just arrived back home yesterday. We were on Reflection and disembarked in FFL. We are putting ourselves into 14 day quarantine.  We live in the same city noted on this post. On our flight back home to Toronto the couple behind us coughed for most of the flight.  Nothing we could do about it and now we wait and pray that we did not get infected!
I wish all people who are traveling back to their hometowns really seriously consider the self quarantine so that we can reduce the amount of people who are going to get sick!

While the lack of a footstool should not particularly make or break a cruise it does impact my cruise.  I  like to sit on my balcony to read or just watch the ocean.  Because of back problems I NEED something to elevate my feet.  It’s just how it works for me.  The lack of footstool is another disappointment in the “revolution” for me.  This is just one more “little” thing.  It  adds to our consideration in booking new cruises.  More cost, less amenities.  The thought of packing an inflatable beach ball is not in the part of the plus column when I plan a cruise.

I too suffer from degenerative back pain (Spondylolysis at my L5 S1) and the footstool was something I was looking forward to having on our balcony.  Guess I will have to see what I can come up with if Celebrity can no longer afford to provide their paying passengers with a footstool.

  4. Aloha Dami,

This will depend on which part of the island your ship will be. You could post this question on the Maui TripAdvisor Forum as they have destination experts who either live on the island or have visited many times and are very helpful.

     Enjoy your cruise.

Forget what I just said. They just announced we will be arrive at 3pm now. Walk off at 3-4pm all other luggage tags being at 430. They will close the on board accounts at 1pm. They did not say anything about staying the night on the ship.

Thanks for keeping us all updated. We have friends on this cruise so getting updates from you is appreciated.

I see the ship is now moving at 17.4kn.  I am going to assume they want to get everyone off the ship as soon as possible so probably no overnight on ship tonight. Hope everyone can find a hotel for the night.

  6. Hope you can get your bill corrected.

This is a good lesson for others. Check your acount daily when cruising. (any ship or line) Mistakes happen. And the fix is quick and easy when you report it as it appears. It's a lesson we learned years ago on another line.

That is what my DH does. Our past cruise we actually had to get a few charges removed while we were onboard. We just explained that the charges were not ours and celebrity had them removed from our account. They were mainly charges from the bar and it was explained to us that depending on how busy the bar is the staff could accidentally charge the wrong card if they have a few in front of them at one time.

  7. Hi Phabric,

I am also on a celebrity cruise leaving September 30th. 2019 to the Greek Isles and already looking at accommodation options. Our last cruise out of Barcelona we made the mistake of only flying in 2 days prior from Toronto.

Our first day was jet lag adjustment for DH and I and we did not get to do much sightseeing.

This time we plan on flying from Toronto on the Thursday night for arrival into Barcelona Friday and book us a three night hotel stay. Ship sails on the Monday so that will give us Friday to adjust to the time change and just browse around a bit and then Saturday/Sunday and part of Monday we can plan our sightseeing.

  8. Hi Dana,

We were on this same cruise with you guys and had the pleasure of meeting you both (we were the ones FaceTiming with our friends on deck 5..lol) I sure hope one of your photos will be of Jason enjoying his coronarita from the sunset bar. He sure got me hooked on them.

Bruce and I also did the PG cruise to the French Polynesia islands but that was 10 yrs ago. That cruise is still ranked as #1 in our books and hope to do it again. Look forward to reading the rest of your review and for sure I will be checking out your FP review.

  9. This was our first cruise with Celebrity and boy they did not disappoint. We had a wonderful time. Actually one of the best cruises we have ever had. Enjoyed so much we booked another cruise to NZ in 2018! Loved the shows, the staff, and hanging out at the sunset bar! Stop by and say hi to Nigel for me!

  10. Thanks for offering to answer questions. We're in a S1-9299 in April with some early morning excursions so I was wondering how early Luminea and Blu open for breakfast on port days. Any chance of posting any "Celebrity Today" daily programs? Would greatly appreciate them. Enjoy your cruise and hope you have great weather!

We just got off the Eclipse on Sunday. I brought home all the daily programs. Breakfast hours in Luminea and Blu are 8:00 - 9:30am. Any other questions let me know.

  11. To the OP, thank-you for sharing your experience with us. I haven't read anything about the Maasdam's experience, but have read about a NA experience also experiencing rough seas and heavy listing on a recent cruise. It does leave me wondering why 3 ships chose to sail into the storms?

I was on the September 13th NA med cruise that you read about.

Was sitting in the dining room with my DH finishing up our meal talking about the wonderful day we had in Taormina when a storm hit us.

We have cruised numerous times and I have to admit time did stand still during this and according to my husband I kept repeating out loud everyone stay calm its going to be ok..guess I was reassuring myself that at some point it was going to stop.

The ship listed about 14 degrees. Felt like it lasted a life time but Captain Bas van Dreumel, who was having dinner in the tamarind, quickly returned to the bridge and immediately made an announcement to let us know that we were not in any grave danger but to please use extreme caution while moving around the ship as rough seas would continue through the night.

I was really impressed with how the crew handled the whole situation and how hard they worked cleaning up all the damage. Most was in the lido and the shops.

Our waiter even came by our table to apologize to us that our dessert would be a bit late due to the circumstances and when we went back to our cabin our Stewart came in our room immediately to tidy up the items that had been tossed around the room.

The captain and crew are the reason why we love to cruise and we will not let this experience stop us from enjoying future ones.

I think if they can avoid bad weather they would. I was told by one of the shop crew members that the amount of damage in broken dishes and merchandise on a cruise out of NYC was around $50,000!

The next morning we all received a letter in our staterooms from the Captain thanking us for our understanding and cooperation during this unexpected incident and to let us know that we would continue to experience 45 knots through the day and to assure us all that our safety is their highest priority at all times.
