The two times we cruised out of NYC pre-Covid we used Park Rite, which is just down the street.  You show up at the garage, give them your confirmation number, a driver jumps in and brings you to the port, you unload and the driver take the car back to the garage.  When you arrive you call them once you are off the boat and they drive the car to you and help you load the luggage.  Easy-peasy!

If you park at Park Right and use code Save10 to save 10% then the price is about $210-215 for the week.

  2. I purchased a dining package (4 meals) and then booked the meals in the same transaction. I was charged the price of the package plus the price of the Teppanyaki meal. I booked the same number of meals as my package. Will I be refunded the difference to my credit card, or will my credit card not be charged the price of the meal booked at Teppanyaki? I don't remember how it worked on last year's cruise.

  3. When our youngest two were 3 & 5 yo we bought snorkel rafts. They were fantastic!! We added a rope and towed them behind us. We always bring their life vests, and they happily wore them as they looked through the window at all the fish. Ours is the Sea View Calypso brand. We brought a small hand air pump to inflate them and used a water bottle to fill the window. They worked so well that my now 8 &10 yo still remember them. They really work and they could see the fish and coral very well.

Here is a thread about the raft from 2010.

  4. Enjoying your review. We are on the Gem 10 day cruise in 2 weeks, and your review is really getting me in the mood. This will be our 8th family cruise, and we are surprising our 4 kids (8yrs-18yrs) on my husbands birthday, only a few days in advance, so I'm going to be doing most of the packing. Your left out item made me LOL, now I'm going to be double and triple checking everyone's bags. I especially appreciate the Splash Academy schedules. I realize your cruise was longer, but it given me a good idea of the different activities offered. Thanks for all your hard work posting, and keeping your Dad and your family in my prayers.

  5. Has anyone tried either Capt Jo Boat Charter (Anse Marceil Marina) or Capt Alan Boat Charter (Oyster Bay Marina)? I would like to book an all day charter while in St. Martin, and these are my two leading contenders. We are a family of 6 with kids ages 8-18 yrs old. Capt Jo is private charter for the family and more expensive, but guaranteed just us for a full day. Capt Alan offers a 4 hour charter, and if 8 people sign up, and ask for it, they will offer the all day. We would like an all day charter we are in port 8am-6pm. I am not interested in a larger general charter (ie. Capt Bob's), because in the past we have had the conflict of our young children on a boat with older intoxicated passengers. (I call it our lesson learned excursion. While staying at a resort we booked a charter for a max of 12 passengers when our 4 kids were ages 3-13, and a group of six 20 somethings joined us on the boat. They were definitely there to party. Our kids still love to tell the story of that vacation:eek:)

We are also very pale New Englanders and prefer lots of shade to keep from burning, so any thoughts on a charter boat that offers shade would also be greatly appreciated. I think I'm leaning toward Capt Jo, but distance from the ship with the added transportation costs to get to the marina, and lunch appears to not be included. I would love any input. We are cruising on the NCL Gem in February. Thank you
