  1. Not a shaving response but a question regarding the bath. We usually have mini suites and I am trying to figure out how you are expected to bathe and reach the shower gel dispenser. Of course, the logical: bring your own, use bar soap, etc. but... what were they thinking?

  2. Just off the Golden SF/Alaska. Crab Legs, Halibut and possibly another regional dish were offered at the Crown Grill and also in the MDR on the last night. Crab cakes and other items at the Horizon and Trident Grill. The real problem for me: the quality and taste. I was disappointed in the choices and taste of the food. Alaska, however, makes everything magical with it's natural beauty.

  3. Apologies if this has already been suggested. I was having surgery following a recent cruise and after online checking felt Zylast XP Antiseptic Lotion was worth a try. I believe it lists Noro as one of the 99.99% of germs it kills. It is lotion not water based and is 'persistent for six hours'. Zylast.com if you want more information. You never know for sure but I remained healthy for what was a successful surgery.

  4. Just got off the Star Princess for a 10 day Mexico cruise and there was no dining room option for lunch for the embarkation. I even went so far as to physically check all three dining rooms.

Is this a perk that Princess plans to discontinue?

We were also on this cruise. We had a copy of the Princess info that said a dining room would be available. However, we were told the dining room was unavailable due to a 'closed' event.

On a previous cruise this year, we were told it was unavailable and when we replied we always had lunch in the dining room, they found us a table. It was nearly empty! I think it would be a nice Elite perk.

  5. A search online will bring up a few of the new versions that include the Ebola related questions. There is a little difference in the size and placement of questions on the online versions but the questions are the same. Seems like completing the name, ship, etc information ahead and then checking the box, signing and dating when you are there might work if that is your choice.

  6. Nah... not the central staircase. Just that my cruise on the Grand was the worst in terms of customer service, waitstaff, cabin steward, etc. Everything was "off" on the cruise. For instance, one of the ports was Princess Cays and we got to where they were handing out tender tickets just after 9am. We didn't get on a tender until well after 10:30am and by then, PC was packed to the gills. There was no where so sit, no shade, etc. We walked around for about half an hour and went back on the ship. I have to believe that people were just going down to the tenders without a ticket and no one was paying any attention. The whole ship/cruise was poorly managed. This was years ago and I've avoided the Grand ever since. I'm sure it's better but I remain prejudiced.

    Pam,

We have been on the Grand three times this year (yes, I feel very fortunate!), and the customer service, waitstaff and steward were wonderful. I hope you have a great experience this time.

  7. Our last two experiences with trying to have lunch in the dining room on embarkation day weren't the best. In March, we were told we were too late. We did arrive a little after 1:00so we somewhat understood that. In May, we arrived at noon and were told you had to be part of a 'special group'. Not sure if it was BVE or something else. We explained we often eat at the MDR on 'E' day. They then said they could probably find a table for us. The odd part was the room was half empty the entire time we were there.

  8. I want to thank everyone on here for your terrific suggestions and moral support! Persistence paid off, and I am soon to be reunited with my phone and all the info contained on it (as well as my $800!) :D  :D!!!

It was the suggestion of emailing starprincess@princesscruises.com that did it (thank you Bernadette!). I got an email back from the Front Desk Supervisor asking for a description of my phone. It is distinct because of it's cover, and because I know the last pictures I took with it.

It was located in the Sanctuary, where I thought I had left it, and turned in by a crew member. I am doing another BVE when the Star returns to SF this week, and will personally thank that crew member with a reward for their honesty!

It was a long shot that I would get it back, and I can't tell you how happy I am :D!

We are boarding the Star on the 23rd and while I am happy to know we will have a great crew, I am happy for you and can 'hear' the relief!

  9. I feel the quality of the shower gel is poor at best. In addition, the dispenser is difficult to reach if you are taking a bath. A possible solution would be to provide bottles of shower gel for cabins with bath tubs. I think I would be willing to pay a bit more for better products. I also think the majority would like to not have to think about or pack these items

Would it be any better if Princess installed liquid soap dispensers at the sinks?

  10. Sad news of it's existence on Princess. If they start Lawn Darts, I may have to go over to Celebrity.

I never thought I would do this, I will admit. We were on a cruise with many sea days and a friend convinced me. We had a great time. Several people said they enjoy this game at back yard bbq's at home and were pretty competitive. I was on the winning team - that may be why I thought it was fun ;-)

It was also fun to meet new people. Maybe try it before you condemn it?

  11. When we were on Carnival my Dad enjoyed the bean bag toss activity. He asked if Princess has one and I haven't seen it listed in any reports. I've seen that they have various trivia games which he also likes. Should we look for a bean bag toss in the Patters?

On two cruises this year on the Grand, they had this toss - I believe they called it something else. The game also varied - once with two teams, once with only 6 -12 players. It seemed it depends on who is running the activity. It was held at the Wheelhouse Bar once and in the Piazza a couple of times and was listed in the Patter.

  12. This function is held in the new ONE 5 lounge on the Grand.

We did a b2b in March on the Grand. For the Mexican Riviera cruise it was held in the Vista due to the number of guests that were eligible. For the Coastal Cruise, it was held in the One 5.

  13. My experience has always been that unless you ask no one tells you lunch is available in the MDR. They always have directed us to the buffet. Even when asking about it the have been evasive. Anyone else experience this? I do like eating in the IC before the newbies discover it!

This has happened to us a couple of times. On our last cruise in March we went to the dining room almost a half hour before it closed and were told they were full and our wait would be longer than that. The attitude drove us to Alfredo's - a great choice!

  14. D'Shadow....

The Star does not have Alfredos. That was my original question for this post. Please read the responses that I received.

Your original question brought my reply to mind. I was/am wondering if there was a possibility Alfredo's would ever be brought to the Star. Many on this forum seem to have information on such things. I read the responses so far and was hoping for more input.

  15. thanks for all the replies regarding alfredos. i'm really disappointed but i do love the pizza on the pool deck. it is fabulous pizza and i've always liked it but since my cruise on the grand and eating at alfredos, i'm sorry that they haven't incorporated it into the star. hopefully one day!

We have also just completed a few cruises on the Grand and Alfredo's is a favorite. For those of you that seem to often be 'in the know', is Alfredo's a possibility on the Star?

  16. I always order coffee to the room at 7am & like to just answer the door in a robe.

Althouh I can see by all the answers, I will be brining my own.

I just feel that it is a perk I am used to. We cruise all the different lines and this is our 50th cruise. We always get a mini (junior) suite or above and have tier status.

We have no problem with this on any other ship. I do not feel I should have to pay $10. As a previous poster said.

This is obviously just another way that Princess is cutting back .....a real shame....as I said before...stop advertising this as a perk.

We just returned from a B2B cruise on the Grand - and from now on I will also be bringing my own robe. I am rather small and couldn't close the robe and the neck area looked soiled. A replacement was given that 'fit' but didn't look very clean. We are almost "Elites" now and am a bit disappointed in the robes, the dispensed items in the shower and the current comments on amenities being changed. On a positive note, we always enjoy the cruising part!
