  1. We are wondering what the complimentary laundry service is in the above category on Pursuit.  On another line recently in the same class of suite we had bags of laundry washed and pressed and returned on hangers in two days (some people were putting laundry bags outside their cabins every two days).  I can't seem to work out on Pursuit whether this will be the case or only 1 bag per 7 nights.?

  2. We can't seem to find much information about the wifi service on Queen Elizabeth - one cruiser mentioned that the internet was very slow.  We are wondering about the packages but despite searching Voyage Personaliser I can't seem to find the $'s required.   Previous cruisers may know, and we would be very pleased to receive some idea of the cost.

  3. We have sailed before on Cunard but not since their changes to the dress code - first time the Queens Grill on Queen Mary in 2010 (all in dinner suits for formal evenings - last time it was the Queen Victoria in the Princess Grill and at our table of six all the men were in dinner suits for the formal nights.

My husband realises he needs a jacket and maybe a tie for the informal nights, but for the Gala Evenings he is wondering if the Queens Grill restaurant men guests are mostly in dinner suits.?

Perhaps a CC member who has travelled recently on QE can enlighten me on the mens dress attire in the Queens Grill.

    Many thanks.

  4. We will be on Queen Elizabeth around New Zealand in March in Queens Grill.   There are three Gala evenings..... in previous voyages in Grills my husband wore his dinner suit.   However other nights are smart attire which I gather would mean a jacket but does this mean a tie or would collared shirt without tie be acceptable.

The previous voyage in QG was 2010 on Queen Mary, and in 2015 in Princess Grill on Queen  Victoria but I don’t have a memory of the smart attire !

  5. We are inclined towards a Scotch and Dry Ginger around 5 p.m. - we note from another posting that Ginger Ale is available in the bars, however is there alcohol in the bar fridges?

We are thinking maybe we should bring a bottle of Scotch onboard.

We don't always want to go to the bar/s for a drink, so a drink on the balcony sounds more appealing at that hour.

  6. We will be on Journey on 23/12/17 cruising in Asia - our first time on Azamara. We notice that the two specialty restaurants seem very formal which is fine with us and our cruising friends, however we wonder whether the male members of our trip should be packing a jacket. We realise that Azamara is classed as a "country club casual" ship, but Aqualina and Prime C look anything but casual. The men of course will be packing collared country club shirts (maybe though short sleeves as we travel towards Bangkok and Singapore).

Previous cruisers may be able to enlighten us.

  7. We note from another posting that the ship will be docked in or near Ho Chi Min City and Bangkok on the above cruise.

We have also gleaned that Hanoi a good distance from Halong Bay where I imagine we will be docked. Apart from a trip on the Bay there doesn't seem much else to do in Halong Bay - we have been on a Halong Bay cruise on a previous trip so don't wish to repeat the experience.

Am wondering though about the other ports.

Azamara tours seem to be mostly 7 to 12 hours - in what may be high temperatures/humidity, we are not keen to subject ourselves to such long trips.

We would prefer a walking tour in some ports - Danang and Hoi An but are not sure where the ship will dock.

Any help would be gratefully received.

  8. We were in Georgetown on a Sunday in April 2015 and except for a couple of restaurants and jewellers, there nothing was open in terms of shops. There was a market on the wharf which was obviously catering to the ship but we weren't interested in their wares. We suggest you leave the ship in the a.m. and go back to the ship for lunch.

Hi Chriswat - just wondered whether anything was open when you were there, as we also dock on a Sunday?
  9. We will be in Georgetown port for a day and noticed that the tour we wanted does not operate on Sundays...this is not the ships tours which concentrated on snorkelling and diving....because the ship will be in port will we find that shops and tours will be operating ?

  10. It is open dining. You will be allocated a table and it is yours for whole cruise. You decide when to have breakfast, lunch and dinner at a time suitable to you during opening hours. There is no set time.

We understand "allocated a table" as we cruised in the Queens Grill on QM2 with another couple - we did say after the cruise that whilst we enjoyed our friends company on a table for four - we agreed that we would have liked to have joined a larger table and met more people.

So I gather we will be allocated a table for two, and that will be "it" in the Princess Grill for the whole cruise? Unless of course, we opt to dine elsewhere.

  11. My guess would be it's Northern Hemishpere people trying to escape the bitter cold of February.

But if you're considering the January sailing, the month is school holidays in Australia, and most touristy-type places are very busy. And personally, I find February to be hotter and more miserably summer than January and would much rather be in an air conditioned place than out exploring.

I agree that January would be preferable because of the heat in Australia in February - the school holidays will nearly be at an end, so that shouldn't be too much of an issue with lots of children around.

As was said in another post - it can be cooler in New Zealand and you may need a light jacket.

  12. We are considering a Panama Canal cruise for 2015 and were thinking of QV in April, Crystal Symphony in May,or maybe Oceania's Regatta or Seven Seas Navigator in September.

We have cruised with Cunard previously on the QM2 in 2010 in Queens Grill, and Seabourn since then.

We are thinking of Princess Grill on the QV for the April 2015 trip.

However my husband and I prefer the Seabourn style of cruising with a back deck restaurant situation for either inside or outside for all meals.

We seem to recall that QM2 didn't have an outdoor restaurant, and wonder if this is the same situation for QV ? Presumably there was a Pool Grill style eating area on QM2 and maybe the same on QV but the Seabourn was more of a restaurant style with tablecloths etc. in the evenings.

We do not expect the same level of food/service in the Princess Grill as the Queens, nor the standard of suite - however we are also wondering whether Princess Grill guests are able to access the Queens Grill lounge for afternoon tea and drinks after dinner ?

  13. We will be cruising again with Seabourn Sojourn in June 2014 from Monte Carlo - we have been involved with roll calls on other lines and have found them excellent with a good number of cruisers attending the "get togethers" on board. However we note there is only one other posting for this cruise and interested to read that Seabourn cruisers do not in the main sign up for roll calls - a bit disappointing. We noticed on our last Seabourn cruise that our U.S. cruisers often travel together in big groups and this of course generally means that they stick together. We are an Australian couple and maybe that makes a difference. We will see what happens between now and June.

When Dan suggested having roll calls for Seabourn cruises a while ago I thought it was a great idea. Now not so sure. We have a roll call going for our upcoming cruise from Istanbul to Athens and also from Athens to Rome. Very little response to either of these RC's.

Share if you will your experiences with our roll calls.

    Just a question' date=' I don't mean to rock the boat :p[/quote']
