Thanks for the reply. Hope they get the "technical issued" resolved soon. Enjoy the remainder of your cruise.

Looks like you're skipping Merida. Any idea why? 2 missed ports on a 7 day cruise...not good.

Hope the seas have calmed down and you're no longer nauseous. Please let us know if there are any other changes to the itinerary. DH and I are on this cruise next month. Would be very disappointed if we missed some ports.

I have always booked my own hotel, transport, etc. myself. It was much less than Viking was charging. We stayed in the Rue Cler neighborhood. Lots of restaurants and shops near by. We used BT Transfer to get from the airport to the hotel. We were there in October, the cost was 55 euros and the driver spoke English. Happy Travels!

Thanks for sharing. Can't wait for the rest of your review. Brings back happy memories as we did this itinerary 3 years ago. After 2 more Viking cruises this was definitely our favorite.

Husband and I are scheduled to sail the Avignon to Lyon cruise on the Heimdal on Oct. 25 2017. We received the same email from Viking. Not going to Macon will not be a problem for us. We are looking forward to spending more time in Lyon. We'll see what kind of extra excursions Viking will offer and perhaps take one of them. Viking also stated the original excursion from Macon will still be offered but will leave from Lyon instead.

Thanks for the great report and the beautiful pictures. Have the Southern France cruise planned for 2017. After reading your report I want to take the Rhine cruise.

Love the pictures. Thanks for sharing. Can't wait for the next chapter.

Thanks so much for your reply. I will definitely book the tickets online but it looks as though you can only book them out about six weeks in advance for AFH.
Tickets for AFH are available through Oct. Book well in advance to get what you want.

Hubby and I were on the same cruise in late March/early April this year. Weather was unseasonably mild with no rain. Hard to tell what the weather will be.

Another option to the Empire State Building is Top of the Rock in Rockefeller Center right around the corner from the tree. Entrance is on W. 50th St. between 5th and 6th Ave. Admission is $29 and as I remember the line was nowhere near as long as the ESB. NY is a beautiful place during the holidays. Enjoy!

If you purchase something on board ( gift shop...not much to buy...drinks in lounge, laundry, optional tours, etc.) you just sign and put your room number on the slip. No need to swipe your card. You settle up at the end of the cruise, either by credit card or cash. Suggested gratuities are just that...suggested. You decide how much you want to give.

We cruise in March and also received the e-mail. Haven't had a chance to read it all yet.

I'd look for hotels in the midtown west, Times Square or Upper west side areas between 42nd St. and 57th St. Times Square area is very busy but offers lots on dining options.
-
I agree with mommy. Clean up in the Times Square area is usually finished before the sun comes up. The rest of the city is very quiet, especially in the a.m.

Another option would be to go to New York Penn Station and take NJ transit train to the airport. Trains run about every 20 minutes and cost $12.50 one way for adult, $8.75 for senior(over 62). Will probably take about 1/2 hour. Entrance to Penn Station is on 33rd St. and 7th Ave. If the weather is nice and you don't have lots of luggage, you could probably walk there from your hotel.
Help! Cabin upgrade on Viking Sky and we sail in 2 days!

Looks like they skipped Key West today and are headed straight to Belize. There must be some mechanical issue that they can't seem to fix. I wish they would be honest with the passengers about what the problem is.
