  1. Bottom line:  if Regent really wanted to know what you thought of the cruise and wanted your comments/suggestions, it would be an easier process.  I don't think they really want our input, thus they make it hard.

  2. About five or six years ago while on a cruise, a happy Silversea crew member told me that they had just received new furniture for a crew lounge.  The furniture was procured with funds from the so called "crew's fund" that guests donated to.  He said the crew really appreciated it!

That left a bad taste in my mouth.  Should we be paying for something that in my mind is the cruise line's responsibility?  I have not donated since but tip individuals who provide great service.

Did anyone get a Christmas present from Silversea last month? First time in many, many years we did not get one. Wondered if it had got lost in transit or the RCL bean counters again at work

We did not get one in 2023 after receiving various items through the years, such as coffee table books, framable prints, etc.  We are in the US.

Just to show you how things are so individual, we prefer the Shadow and Whisper over Spirit and larger ships. What makes the world go around.

You are not the only one, because I'm with you on this.  Much prefer the old-school, large main dining room instead of figuring out where we want to eat every night.

I will disagree with that statement - the balcony on our concierge suite was large enough for two recliners with room to spare

This is true if you are talking about two loungers and nothing else.  But with a table and two chairs, there is room for only one lounger.  Don 't think anyone wants a balcony without a table and chairs.

Yea.. this might happen on some ships, I just didn't want to take a chance since 6 out of 10 nights are formal or informal. I remember last year on the Spirit we tried to enter Antantide on informal night with no jacket, they told us that jacket is required and didn't offer the option to lend one. Maybe because we were a group of 4 couples.. So maybe it depends on the ship, not sure.

Or maybe because all of their stock of "lending" jackets were already in use, hanging from the backs of chairs in the dining room.

A little off topic, but us rum drinkers are in a worse state when it comes to onboard selection.  First of all, Bacardi rum tastes like you bit into a two by four piece of wood.  In addition, no self-respecting Puerto Rican (me) will drink it.  Give us something drinkable like Don Q! Also, there are some wonderful sipping rums out there like Dos Maderas or Zacapa which would be nice to have onboard.  Finished ranting.

    Z and TB

Z - like you I am a rum drinker and can't stand Bacardi (or Captain Morgan).  On board Regent I usually drink Mount Gay or Diplimatico (sp?) from Venezuela.

If the cabin I want is available as P2P and DW and I are both sold on the itinerary and timing, I book P2P with the prepayment discount – which covers the cost of travel insurance.  I can't change my mind about the cruise, but if we're really unable to go the insurance will cover all our costs.  That's flexible enough for me.

This is exactly the way we do it when booking Silversea cruises.

I always thought room service was just that, service to your room.   Having food served in many places on the ship sounds unsanitary.   Assume dirty plates will be left wherever the food is served.

I'm with you on this!  Who wants to be enjoying the Observation Bar and having people eating a hamburger next to you while sitting at the bar and dirty dishes left on the tables..  Room service should mean service to the suites only!

  10. The ship looks beautiful and very contemporary.  However, I do not like all of the bench seating in the restaurants and the uncomfortable, cheap looking balcony furniture in the veranda suites.

Doesn't matter what you call them, the SS beds are 33 inches by 80 inches.

So, when pushed together, they make a 66 inch by 80 inch bed.

This is exactly correct - I measured them once.

I am new to Regent so this is newbie question.  Can OBC be used in the casino on Regent?  We usually enjoy playing for "free" in the casino on other cruise lines.

What cruise line allows you to play for free in the casino with OBCs?

  13. My only gripe about the Splendor is the lack of pool bar seats.  During our time on board in March, there were only eight seats around a bar than can easily fit over a dozen.  The current bar seats are not very sturdy and cheaply made, so we assumed that there used to be more seats and they have broken some over time.  Bottom line: Regent needs to buy more (and better) seats for the pool bar.

Once again,  it is a question of personal preference!  We sailed 3 times (twice on World Cruises) on the Lady Whisper and loved her!  We are  booked on the 2024 World Cruise on the Silver Shadow  (the Lady Whisper's sister ship)  because we enjoy that size ship.  Our preference.  Please decide what is most important to you as cruisers!  Other's preferences may not align with yours.

I agree 100% with this.  I prefer Shadow and Whisper over the newer ships because they have a main dining room.  I do not need or want all of the smaller speciality dining rooms on the newer ships where I have to decide daily where I want to eat that night.
