  1. From my experience of visiting and being in the water of 23 of these locations. Also, taking into account The Belize Barrier Reef that is a 300-kilometer (190 mi) long section of the 900-kilometer (560 mi) Mesoamerican Barrier Reef System, which is continuous from Cancún on the north-eastern tip of the Yucatán Peninsula through the Riviera Maya and up to Honduras, making it the second largest coral reef system in the world after the Great Barrier Reef in Australia.

My first and favorite place is Honduras, then Belize, Costa Maya, Cozumel. Bonaire and Grand Cayman are also great. Have had good experiences in St Thomas, St Martin and Barbados, but the best has been Honduras,(Roatan, Cayos Cachinos, Utila. etc) and not from a cruise ship.

  2. We will be looking forward to the 2.5 mile walk (or 4.5 miles along the beach) to Los Olas Blvd from Embassy Suites 17th St., and eating and drinking at Rocco's Tacos & Tequila Bar. Best table side guacamole "ever" and strongest Margaritas "ever" lol

  3. Long time no see!

As SKnight laid out very well, the Caribbean and the Crown will have similar dance venues if the Salty Dog is over on the Caribbean as well. With the Salty Dog you usually only have mood music, like a soloist guitarist, but every once in a while you get a guitarist that is great to dance to as well. (If the Salty dog is not on the Caribbean, you will have the "ballroom" dance venue there.)

From our more recent experience, it can be really hit or miss on dancing. Depends on the bands booked for the cruise. We've had great ones, and so-so ones. But you will have more space and more opportunities on the Crown/Caribbean rather than the new ones - and quite frankly, dancing in the concrete piazza can be painful.

BTW - Lot of speculation/interest on the 2017 Tahiti cruise. Up for another 28 dayer if it happens?

Princess Cruises only has 4 ships sailing the Caribbean in Jan, Feb and Mar 2017. They are the Royal & Regal Princess, which are sister ships, and the Crown Princess and Caribbean Princess.

The new ships Royal & Regal lack real venues for ballroom dancing. They do have frequent dancing in the Piazza with various types of music at various times, and many people dance there. The dance floor is marble, and the live music varies widely, including classical, classic rock, pop, big band, dixieland, disco, line dancing. There might also be a few dance sessions on the small dance floor in the Vista Lounge.

The Crown & Caribbean Princess, while not exactly sister ships are similar in design. They both have proper lounges for dancing including:

Club Fusion: generally pop, Latin, classic rock and other activities

Explorer's Lounge: Similar to Club Fusion

Wheelhouse Bar: Probably what you are looking for. In the past they have had a ballroom dance group that plays standard ballroom dance music like Latin, fox trot, waltz, quick step, tango, things like that. However, it has been reported that since the Gastro Pub has been added to the Wheelhouse Bar that some of this has been eliminated.

    Piazza: Some dancing there also.

Sykwalker's: Late night club with DJ. I suppose you could request any songs, but expect most of the music will be club music. The dance floor is glass with lights.

Thanks sknight for the Great information!:)

Thanks and hello ccrain. The Tahiti cruise was great, but we need to discover more new places. TTYL ;)

  4. February 11, 2017.....an 8 night cruise to the ABC Islands--Aruba, Curacao and Bonaire.

This is a Valentines week cruise with good pricing. Should be alot of couples with a romantic theme :) Club Fusion usually has Dance activities, along with SkyWalkers (Disco) :) and im sure there will be dancing under the stars.

It should be a a great winter break cruise, during a romantic week, with smooth seas to some great ports.......

Sounds like a reason to dance to me.

    Thanks blkspy,

I remember the Caribbean Princess does have some great dancing venues..

How are the current dancing activities Princess fleet wide? I would like to hear from some dancing Princess fans.;)

I like the ABC islands for the 1st world amenities, the great reefs and the southern most weather in the Caribbean. :)

The long in port times in Curacao and Aruba are definitely a big plus on this itinerary.

  5. Hi All,

I am looking to book a Caribbean cruise with Princess early in 2017. (January, February or March)

I would love current information on the ship that has the best Dancing (Ballroom and Latin), Dance floor and venues.

I know most ships and the newer ones only have dancing in the Piazza. I am looking for a lot more venues then just that.

If you could please comment on your personnel experience. Thanks

  6. This would be my #1 recommendation.

Helicopter tour of Kauai island on a Hughes 500 with no doors. Tour by Jack Harter Helicopters ...

Also would suggest renting a car and touring a little on your own. Hawaii gets lots of tourist and there are many tourist traps. Have you thought about surfing, SUP boards etc?

    And congratulations

  7. HI Pat:

First, did you pay for your cruise in US or CDN dollars? If you booked in CDN, go on-line to the Princess Cruise Personalizer and you can buy everything there(OBC, Casino Credits, pre-pay gratuities, beverage packages, etc, and it is quoted in CDN dollars at the exchange rate that you will be charged. Hope this helps. I think the problems have occurred when people call Princess and then the agent "screws up" what currency to charge.

    Have a great cruise:

    Update

I originally booked October 2015 cruise beginning of year Jan 2015 and paid in CDN $ @ 10% FX.

I have just paid final payment, Vacation protection, gratuities, and $$$ in OBC all at 10% FX on line through "My Princess" Cruise Personalizer.

    FYI

the OBC is totally refundable up to 72 hour before cruise.

I have experienced the problem calling Princess and then the agent "screws up" what currency to charge.

I have previously received my unused OBC from a refund cheque mailed out weeks after a cruise.

I have had friends receive cash from their OBC through the Casino Account, but have never done so myself.

    Thanks for all the comments

    Cheers

  8. Casino Cash out

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I plan on making the pre-cruise Gratuity Pre-Payment on-line through "My Princess" @ the current $1.10 FX on Princess. The current FX anywhere else is <$1.28.

Planning also to make the pre-cruise purchase of "Onboard Credits" for expected expenses while on board also through "My Princess" @ the current $1.10 FX on Princess.

My question is for those with some experience,

I have the option to purchase more OBC's above what I expect is needed and/or Casino Credits.

I am wondering if I can open a Casino account and cash out any time (withdraw) my excess cash for spending in ports i.e. private excursion, etc.

    Any insight is greatly appreciated.

  10. As provided in the Passage Contract,

guests agree not to bring alcoholic beverages of any kind onboard for consumption, except one bottle of wine or champagne per adult of drinking age (no larger than 750 ml) per voyage, which will not be subject to a corkage fee if consumed in the stateroom. Additional wine or champagne bottles are welcome, but will incur a $15 corkage fee each, irrespective of where they are intended to be consumed. Liquor, spirits or beers are not permitted. Please remember that luggage will be scanned and alcohol outside of our policy will be removed and discarded.*

Alcoholic beverages that are purchased duty free from the ship's gift shop, or at ports of call, will be collected for safekeeping and delivered to the guest's stateroom on the last day of the cruise. A member of the ship's staff will be at the gangway to assist guests with the storage of their shoreside alcoholic purchases while our Boutiques staff will assist guests with shipboard alcoholic purchases.

*Princess Cruises is not responsible for any alcoholic beverages removed and discarded by shoreside security staff.

Such items are not eligible for monetary refund or replacement.

  11. Chicken Pizza is a fantastic site but you certainly couldn't to it justice from a cruise ship stop from Cozumel. Too much travel time with the ferry and bus. Coba is a fairly decent site in the jungle with the opportunity to climb and hike to the site. One of my favourite mayan ruin excursions was to Laminia mainly for the travel to the site via speed boat along the river. Xunantunich is also a great option in Belize

  12. This, plus if you sail with your friends, you get it on the same cruise as your friends. Otherwise, you get $25 pp off on your next cruise. It is pretty easy.

That's right :) just did this with our best cruise buddies....their first Princess Cruise.

Also you can keep track of the Referral Rewards on My Princess web site ;)

  13. After having done Princess 10-night Caribbean itineraries for years, I find the HAL 10/11 night itineraries more interesting. Those longer Caribbean itineraries attract an older passenger demographic, but in the case on HAL, it is seriously older. Lots of mobility devices in the corridors.

If night life is a consideration, definitely go with Princess. If you've never been to any of the ports, you won't realize that Princess hasn't changed up those itineraries for years. I did appreciate our late night in Curacao on the Noordam, and wish Princess would do more of that sort of thing.

I think that HAL pools and hot tubs, especially the covered pool, top what is on the Royal Princess. I love HAL buffets and the opportunity to get 8 different juices including fresh squeezed OJ at no extra charge, and fresh made eggs Benedict 10 ways and breakfast crepes in the morning. But the buffet on the Royal Princess is the best Princess offers, so it offers many things most other Princess ships don't. The coffee on HAL is definitely better than on Princess!!

As for loyalty perks...we started from the beginning on HAL after being Elite on Princess for years. i would never let lack of benefits prevent me from trying something different.

I agree.........HAL has better beds, shampoo/conditioner and generally bigger cabins. Princess has more entertainment and livelier onboard. Half Moon Cay is so much nicer then Princess Cay.

The Hydro Pool Spa is great on Osterdam, but the roomer deck space and pools on Princess is much better. It all depends on what you are looking for. Do one this year and the other next! lol

  14. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.....we totally enjoyed this cruise. We did lots of dancing at night in different venues. We were selected to participate with ten other people to enjoy the Chef Table on the Monday evening. Grand Cayman was fun riding the "sporty waves" on jet skis with Fat Fish Adventures. Roatan, again enjoyed an excursion with Roatan Bay Island Adventure, we have spent many days on the island and Moody the owner is fantastic. We also had a great day at Nachi Cocom, fantastic food and drinks.

  15. left the music on and exited the room. One of the passengers led the Zumba class instead of the instructor and no one fell over. We all felt he just did not want to do the class that day.

DW and I are Zumba instuctors, so that would be fun leading the class.

BTW, just hoping to get out on the pool deck "vamos bailar en sol";)
