  1. Nice to see so many of the roll call members posting, as you can now see the benefit of adding your CC names to the Future Cruise List. It gets you a nice Bon Voyage.:D

I do hope you have requested a sailaway wave - will you all be gathering for a group sailaway? Let us know where you will be waving from.

looking forward to meeting all our cruise critic friends on our panama canal cruise leaving 10 April

  2. Every little bit counts these days

#1 Use an american online ta

#2 change money using Norms Gambit [on a financial chat group I follow]

use an online brokerage [i use RBC] find an interlisted stock that trades on US and Canadian exchange. buy on the canadian side and immediately sell on the US side and journal the shares.this saves the 2 percent the bankcharges less the 20 dollar brokerage fee.

#3 use a sears credit card if using a Canadian credit card. They recently changed to Scotia bank but kept the no exchange fee on foreign currency feature

  3. In fact they are a small percentage of our visitors even though Fort Lauderdale is the busiest cruise ship port in the world.

Europeans think nothing of booking the Riverside Hotel in February for 21 days at $400 a night.

Cruisers spend much less money than most of our tourists. I was speaking to someone from the CVB (http://www.Sunny.org) and they said cruisers spend about 25% of what other tourists spend.

    It was a shocking figure.

I got the riverside on priceline for 150 a night April 8 to 10

  4. Good deal, taken that it is Riverside and not Riverview I got:

    TravelPony$199 /nt

    HotelsClick.com$199 /nt

    Onhotels.com$209 /nt

    getaroom.com$229 /nt

    Book Direct$229 /nt

    All exc tax and fees.

Even with a (almost ended) flash sale and a promo code on one of those sites I could only bring it down to $196.10 incl. tax and fees.

You are right. It is the Riverside and including taxes and fees it came to 170

  5. San Diego used to be a very convenient non-stop, direct flight from YVR, about 3 hours or so. Now you cannot get there from here without transferring either at LAX or San Fran, making it an all-day option. So for Mexico, I would book a cruise out of LA, which means a very quick flight for me.

Allegiant flys non stop to sd from Bellingham

  6. You seem to have an axe to grind with Oceania in all of your posts here. With this attitude going in it will unfortunately color your experience. Don't know what cruise you're taking but you might check the cancellation rates. I'd hate to spend the kind of money that O costs and then be miserable the whole time.

    Good luck with your issues.

I am leaving today for Barcelona from Vancouver. I used O air with the deviation. They booked the flights and reserved the seats . I changed the seats with BA at no charge.

  7. Was wondering if anyone has had any problems/delays with disembarkment out of FLL after their Constellation Cruise. We are flying on Southwest on a Thursday with 10:45am flights to Buffalo.

we were on the Equinox disembarking on 31 jan. We were off the ship at 9 am and joined the line for customs. we got through at 11:30 am and took a taxi to the airport arriving at 12:15 The person ahead of us had a 12 o,clock flight and missed it

  8. Its always been a bone of contention with me, that we pay for a 5 yr passport and it can only be used for 4 and half years . So there fore we should only pay for four and a half yrs!!!!!! Just more money in their coffers .

You can now get a 10 year passport. I just got mine 2 weeks ago.

  9. I've been to Ernie's and to a different Anthony's. They are ok for a simple casual meal. Ernie's is known for its conch chowder and bimini bread and Anthony's serves up good pizza, salad, and grilled chicken wings.

we stayed at the Crowne Plaza and ate at Anthonys . If you like pizza it was very good. we used a taxi to the Hilton water taxi stop and back. If you are taking a taxi to the port and there are a lot of ships in there might be a bit of a wait for a cab and you are at the mercy of the driver. He charged us 20 dollars for what should have been a 10 dollar ride

  10. You are staying about 2 miles from the closest water taxi stop which is under the west side of the bridge on SE 17th St at the Hilton Marina. Halfway between there and the Crowne Plaza is Total Wine and Spirits. The best restaurant stop is the one on Las Olas (9) although you won't find waterfront dining there. Shooters has waterfront dining and has a stop...Chart House is next door too on the water. Beach Place (4) is the best stop for dining at the beach.

Thats perfect. Thank you very much for the info . It really helps with my planning

  11. For seafood near 17th St, cruiser favorites are Kelly's Landing, Bimini Boatyard, and 15th St Fisheries (last one is a long walk or very short ride of just over a mile, might want to walk there and take a taxi back to hotel).

I really appreciate all of the info I am getting from reading your posts. We are staying at the Crowne Plaza for 2 nights Dec 31 and Jan 1st prior to our cruise. My Question is what would be the nearest stop for the water taxi and what are the best stops for restaurants and also for picking up some wine for the cruise . Thanks Ed
