  1. I'm not sure about how Carnival handles this type of thing, because I'm only gold with them... I can tell you that I've been a Diamond Hilton Honors member for a few years, and last year I missed the mark to hit diamond by several stays. I called the Diamond Hilton Honors number, and they upgraded me from gold back to diamond to show appreciation for my brand loyalty. This was important not only because of the diamond privileges, but because with this year as a diamond member, I have enough consecutive years as diamond to make me Diamond Elite, which means that no matter what, I'll never drop below gold again.

  2. I haven't been on a cruise since they've had these kiosks. I'm sailing on the Triumph this Saturday, and I was wondering.... I always use cash for my S&S account as opposed to giving a credit card upon check in. In the past, I've always had to go to Guest Services immediately upon boarding to make a deposit so I could use my card, but I was wondering if I could do the initial deposit on one of the kiosks. I do have FTTF, so going to guest services may not be bad, although right after boarding I figure even the FTTF lane could have a line.

  3. I remember the DOD deal the OP is speaking of. Every day they had a different colored cup. if you bought it for 7.95, you could get refils for 4.95. or you could buy the drink at 5.95 in a regular cup.

They came in these cups plastic_carnival_cruise_line_cups_by_wildelf34-d9xepi9.jpg

not sure if they still do it, I get cheers so I don't get those cups.

Ahhhhh.... I love those cups. I think I have enough of them in a box somewhere to replenish an entire ship. :D:D:D

  4. no you didnt. you were answering the OP's question will a dangerous, against the rules situation for people who feel they are above the rules and entitled to do what they want in spite of rules or danger to anyone else.

you didn't answer the OP with a real world example that would make your mom proud.

    wow.

  5. I know what you mean. Elation, smaller than Triumph, was our first and we had a beautiful time. I guess the first is always the best. Liberty will be our 8th, and I'm looking forward to it.

The Elation was our first as well. We definitely had a blast on that cruise. I've sailed the Triumph several times, and will be back on her next Saturday. Not sure why exactly, but we LOVE the Triumph. It just seems like the perfect size for us. I've never sailed the Liberty though, and a very good friend of mine just got off her a few weeks ago and said it was his favorite ship yet.

  6. Some of the replies I'm reading here.... I'm embarrassed for some of you. There is an OLD saying that's been around forever... If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all. The OP is clearly just looking for a little advice, and it's my opinion that if you don't have any advice worth hearing, simply don't reply and move on to the next thread. With that said, I'm truly sorry for the OP's loss, and I hope that Carnival would make some type of future credit happen for you. As a law enforcement professional for almost 20 years, I've dealt with plenty of death, and it's always hard to see how loved ones handle the losses.

  7. I find it hard to believe that they would actually come to your room and ask for the bottle you pre-purchased. That just doesn't make sense and would definitely piss some folks off. (Also think we would have heard if something like that had happened before.)

To the OP - I would tell your friend to try and order the bottle online and see if it will go through. Sounds like the rep is wrong. Otherwise, how would bjd2 be able to pre-purchase cheers and then also buy a bottle online through the Fun Shops? If it was true, then he would have been stopped before the purchase was finalized.

Also, if you pre-purchased a bottle before the cruise, would they really know that at a bar where you are purchasing Cheers on the cruise?

ETA: And MCFTJCH2V is correct - there is no way they can get around the fact that you pay out of the nose for Bon Voyage vs. the liquor in the Fun Shops. There is just no way Carnival could justify charging you those prices for a bottle that was taken away.

The more I think about it (and read these comments), the more I agree. The rep had to be wrong. Believe me, I won't say anything when I purchase the Cheers package on the ship. All the pre-cruise worrying must be getting to me. LOL. Just get me on the ship already!!!!!

  8. I hope that isn't the case, my party has Cheers for all of us in our 3 rooms this week and all rooms ordered a bottle of something for the room.

These purchases have you agree that it will be consumed in the room. Hopefully they wouldn't have allowed us to purchase this and then not let us have it.

Amen. That is exactly what I was thinking (and hoping).

  9. I am cruising out of NOLA on 4/30, and I pre-ordered a bottle of vodka and OJ along with a 12 pack of water and a $75 cruise cash to be added to my sail and sign. A buddy of mine pre-bought the cheers program for he and his wife on the same cruise. He called today to pre-order Crown for his room, and they wouldn't sell it to him because he has Cheers. Does this sound right? The rep told him that if he ordered the liquor to his room, then bought Cheers on the boat, they would make you bring the liquor to them to be returned on the final day of the cruise. I plan on buying Cheers when I board (I can't buy it yet, because my wife is gonna be a no-show to be with her ill mother). I understand that I won't be able to purchase Cheers until after sail away to verify that my wife isn't coming, but are they really gonna try to get me to bring my $80 vodka to them? I'll simply tell them that me and my party (we are in a pretty big group of about 20) already drank it all prior to sail away, but I hate being put in a situation to lie to them. I'm already being dishonest by not canceling my wife (I'm just gonna tell them at check in that she's not coming).

  10. I'm cruising on the Triumph in a balcony room on 4/30. I booked and paid for my wife and I to go with about 20 friends. I've never bought insurance on any of the cruises I've been on previously, but I'm considering it now. As of right now, I'm about 95% sure my wife is gonna be a no-show due to medical issues with her mother. If I get insurance, and she doesn't go, will I get any money back? Also, if I decide to purchase insurance, who should I buy it through? Carnival? An outside source? Thanks in advance for any advice.

  11. Swirls seemed to be a simple rebrand of the 24hr ice cream machines.

The whirlpools seemed to be replaced, though I never stepped foot in one.

Can you post any pictures of the ship? I'm sailing on her in 22 days, and I'm going nuts here thinking about it. LOL

  12. A total waste of $$$$$.

Possibly. I've never done it, so I'm pretty excited about it. If I can get on the ship sooner, go straight to my room as opposed to carrying my backpack around, get my luggage in a timely manner, and have an express line at customer service, I'm all over it. At the end of the day, it's only $60, so either way, I'll live. Thanks for the input though, especially without an explanation as to why it's such a waste.

  13. I am sailing out of NOLA on the Triumph on 4/30, and FTTF has been sold out since I have learned about this and tried to book it. I have been checking the website multiple times per day because of the advice I received on this forum, and it paid off! They just opened it up for limited availability, and I snagged it. Hell yeah!
