seems odd unless your TA has put your name on the mailing list but then why Fedex?
I don’t even have a TA right now. That’s why it’s so weird that they are fedexing me a package.

I’ve never heard of this cruise line before today but got a fedex notification that I had a package coming from them but with a New Jersey mailing address. I looked up the address and it was a printing company but have no clue why if they were sending brochures out why the package needed someone there for pickup.

YES! Go right into town from the dock to the Taj Mahal shopping center. It's got a lot of touristy shops, jewelry stores, etc. (I haven't been there in a few years, so it may have changed, but it used to be great for knock-off stuff).
There is also a fairly large Market in OR, but the vendors are pretty intense there, so be prepared. We enjoy the bargaining and have no problem with the locals, but many people don't get the sales tactics, freak out and run the other way. :)
thanks for the information

Is there anywhere to shop in Ocho Rios? Doing a different cruise then we normally do we usually goto Belieze and I love the shopping off the port there. Is there anywhere here that has like knock off designer stuff aswell?

Is there anywhere to eat in the general area, were staying at Holiday Inn on the port and were looking for a cuban resturant or anything else thats really good and not a chain you could find in almost every town. We will be there Saturday so I'm trying to plan out our day.
Thanks for any help

Thanks Debbie, very encouraging words. I have been doing not bad with my eating. Just hard to stay away from potatos, rice, and ice cream those are my real crutches eating wise. I just feel like im not full after dinner if I'm just eating say a chicken breast and some veggies. I've been steering away from ice cream though and having smart ones desserts and just ice cream once a week when the family goes out to the ice cream parlor. For exersice I used to always walk the treadmill or use exercise bike and work on my upper body but since I've been dealing with the diabeties and being on my feet at work all the time its just hard to go in there and walk or ride because my legs are so sore everyday. I'm very commited to trying anything to lose weight though.

Im new to this post but I have a cruise in December and want to lose weight. Just recently found out i'm diabetic so have started to change my eating habits for that but cant seems to lose any weight. The first week i started I lost 3 pounds now I seem to be staying the same or gaining alittle each week. I exercise at work almost every day on top of lifting heavy stuff non stop at work so I can tell thats it really not weight but muscle but still really discouraging. Can't seem to find a right course of eating healthy it seems.

Just starting to transition to a better way of eating this week. Looking for a good plan, been eating healthier as I just found out recently I'm diabetic but havent been losing any weight, if anything gaining weight from muscle because of my job and working out. So trying to get over that hump which sucks.

Thanks for the advice about the scooters, didnt even know they had them for rent at ports. My mother has a walker but we dont even know yet how we can take it on the plane, so we might just have to buy one in NO or Miami. I think shes really sold on the epic though because of some of the shows I told her about. She really likes the blue man group.

Thanks for all the responses people. Making it a tough decision now, was looking at the epic because it goes to jamaica and we havent been there before. But might just have to go back and see the same stuff we have before which isnt a bad thing.

No contest. The Dawn wins. Epic has too many issues and is more like being in a crowded hotel than a cruise ship.
What did you like and dislike about both ships?
-
Just found there wasnt much to do on the spirit and the decor just seamed really tacky. I heard it got redone though, not to sure though.

A few notes about the Epic.
I wouldn't worry about the amount of sea days. There is plenty to do on the ship and I honestly wouldn't want another port on a large ship. Having three sea days gives you ample time to do everything you want on the ship and to have some time for relaxing as well.
When we were on the Epic earlier this year, I made my parents switch their cabin so that they were near the forward elevators. My Mom has mobility issues like yours and being near the elevator is a must. I would also consider being near a forward elevator since the buffet and showrooms are all forward.
Thanks for the advice about placement on the ship.

Yeah i dont do to much on cruise shopping, but on the stops I like to get like small knick knacks for friends and what not and get local drinks and food

Looking to take my mother on a cruise at the end of the year, we are currently looking at the Epic which goes to Jamaica, Grand Cayman, and Cozumel or on the Dawn going to the usual Western stops. We went out of NO in 2007 and 2008 on the Sun and the horrible Spirit so we've seen all 4 stops it makes but I loved shopping in Belize. I havent heard to much about how it is in the caymans and jamaica so thats why I figured I'd make a post and ask which destinations people liked more and if there was a lot to do on those 2 stops. My mom doesnt move around to good anymore so she wouldn't be doing any excursions unless they were bus tours. Mainly were looking for good local shopping.
I just dont like that the epic has all the sea time, I enjoy more land stops but on the other hand I dont know if its worth going to someplace for a third time.
Thanks for any help.
Has anyone received fedex packages from this company?

This is the return address according to fedex. I searched the address and it’s for Sandy Alexander and apparently they do marketing and printing. Seems weird they would spend the money to fedex advertisements.
