  1. I mostly agree with you. Thought the ship seemed tired with chairs and loungers in the public areas needing replacement. Loved the chilled soups and enjoyed food in both the dining room and lido acceptable. We sailed at a good price and service was exceptional.

Ports - except for the beach, thought Grand Turk a port I could do without. The early departure out of both San Juan and St. Marten left little time to enjoy the ports.

Would only go back on HA if price was right.

  2. We switched from HA to Celebrity in 2007 and also have also sailed Royal Carib since that time.

I recently decided to give HA another try. I am in my late 60s and did a girls cruise with my 2 teen granddaughters. Just got off the Westerdam this past Saturday.

The Filipino/Indonesian crew is the best. Food was very good for the most part and the chilled soups were tasty.

Ship was well maintained. I did miss the "Solstice" ambience.

Now the bad - we were bored to death. During the day there was nothing to do. I do not want to learn how to make towel animals nor do I want to listen to the lone steel drummer at the tiny pools. Comedian and illusionist were good. Production shows were so so and not well attended.

Music in some venues at some times was enjoyable. I missed the solarium and beautiful ship look of Celebrity and watching other passengers enjoy the rock climbing and flow riders on Royal.

Go if its important to have a great crew but be prepared for using your Kindle all day and night.

  3. We did Enchantment 4 nighters three times in 2013. We found very few tuxedos, some suits and many in a dress shirt with tie and dress pants. Others opted for nice shirts and pants. Many cocktail dresses or dress pant outfit - others with nice top with slacks or skirt. Some wore nice sundresses. Most casual ship we'be been on. I don't personally care what anyone wears as long as it's clean.

  4. The new Diamond host Carlington seemed to care less about who enterednthe Diamond area. Because of the number of Diamond on the 11/11 sailing, a large area in the Viking Lounge was roped off, on all 4 nights Carlington spent his time in the Diamond Lounge and never came downstairs. People got off the elevator and ordered drinks. People were taking drinks to go and others were laughing at how they were beating the system. Abuse like this will cause this perk to be curtailed. We loved the host on our May sailing and think Mr. Berry needs to shape up or ship out. Make people show their sea pass card?

  5. Just learned our cat. G ocean view has turned into a D1 balcony on tomorrow's Enchantment. We are Diamond, retired USAF sailing on Veterans Day, celebrating milestone wedding anniversary, sailing with a first time cruiser. Don't know if any of the above played in the decision to upgrade us. Think it has more to me being dressed as a fairy, Poppy wearing his old uniform and the 100 foot banner RCI banner on the roof of our house! We can only guess and be grateful.

  6. So I am a 70 year old gal with over 30 cruises. Years ago it was formal and semi-formal dresses plus a few pant/tops combo. Hubby brought a dark suit, sports jacket, dress and casual shirts, ties, etc. Etc. What a royal pain in the arse that was! Now formal for me is a long dress and formal for my hubby is a nice pair of pants and a nice button down shirt. I don't like to see shorts at dinner but think capris and skirts are fine. As long as it's clean - who cares. We are all on vacation!
