Can anyone tell us which cruise line is best for cruising to Alaska?  We were planning to go on Norwegian Bliss but we are seeing a good many bad reviews concerning everything from charging for bottled water outside of beverage deals, food not very good and ship being so large that the crew cannot give 5 star service.  This is our first cruise so we really want to make the right choice.

Hello We were on the Carnival Legend too Alaska this past June 4th our first time too Alaska. It was awesome. Service was outstanding no complaints. We had a balcony we were so glad we decided on the balcony. We have been cruising with Carnival

    for several years.

We will going back. We sailed out of Seattle. I would recommend going out 2 or more days and see the sights in Seattle.

Have a safe and enjoyable trip

The only port Global Entry is accepted is at Ft Lauderdale, with inconsistent reports at Miami. The cards only get you into the GE line, which doesn't exists at Pier 91.

On the other hand, when we got off at Pier 91 in June, it was a quick passport check, maybe 30 seconds per person, and you were done.

Same for us in June at pier 91 very quick passport check.

Long shot here. ...are there any hotels that offer a shuttle to both the airport and the cruise port?  I know it’s a little distance from airport to cruise port and was looking for something maybe in the middle. Thanks for any input.

I looked up the mileage. According Map Quest it's 15 miles. Check it your self. Good luck

We stayed at the La Quinta near the airport ….. it's a clean , pleasant hotel in a quiet area, with comfortable beds, a nice free breakfast, a free shuttle from the airport, and helpful staff, restaurants nearby, and at a reasonable price. There's even a liquor store very close to the hotel in case you want to pick up some wine to take onboard.

We used the Seattle Shuttle to get to the pier (we were at pier 91) for a reasonable cost. It can be pre-booked online, you get to specify what time you want to be picked up, and our driver gave us a narrated mini-tour enroute to the pier. The shuttles were clean and comfortable. We also used that shuttle service to get to the airport at the end of the cruise.

If I were to cruise out of Seattle again, I would chose the same options.

Just what we are looking far. Thanks for posting.

I'd appreciate recommendations from anyone with experience with a Seattle hotel that will shuttle to the cruise port, and is in a good safe location close to restaurants and attractions.  We will be flying and have no intention of renting a car.  We plan to arrive a couple of days prior to our cruise so that we can take in some Seattle sights! (any recommendations on things to do are appreciated as well)

    Thanks so much!

We are looking at a Ramada by Wyndham near Air Port. 2 nights with tax 262.34 for 2 people

The address is 16720 International Blvd

    Sea Tac WA US 98188

  6. We cruised there this past May. It was fantastic! I didn't care about the weather because I expect to get wet there. Thankfully, it only rained in Ketchikan, but we were still able to stroll through the town, have lunch, do some shopping. I think my album from the cruise is public and you can look through the photos here. Layering is the key to staying warm and dry in Alaska.

Beautiful pictures thank you for posting.

  7. We are staying at Hampton Inn Southcenter (Tukwila) which has free airport shuttle. We have signed up and paid for RT shuttle with Seatle Express. $57.24 RT (AAA discount) to Pier 91 and return to airport after cruise.

I notice on the Seattle Express web sight saying something about your luggage going under the passenger seats

not sure if our luggage would fit.

  8. The Cedarbrook Lodge is a good option if you want to stay near SeaTac airport. They have a free shuttle to and from the airport. If you want to go to downtown Seattle, they will take you to the airport where you can catch the light rail into town.

The Cedarbrook is a hotel and spa. As you take the courtesy shuttle to the hotel, you may start to wonder what you've gotten yourself into. But once on the hotel grounds, the hotel and grounds are beautiful. The hotel offers a really nice, free buffet breakfast that includes things like smoked salmon, yougurt parfaits, etc. The also have a gathering area in each building with a fireplace, that's stocked with complementary bottled water, ice cream bars, yougurts, candy and various other snacks.

Downtown Seattle hotels tend to be pricey during the cruise season. It's nice to be in the middle of the action downtown, but when the hotels are running $400+ downtown, we've found the Cedarbrook to be a great, more affordable alternative. A very relaxing, lovely setting and only about 30 minutes or so by light rail to the Seattle waterfront area.

Thank you for the information I will be looking into Cedarbrook. It seems like all the hotels in Seattle are very pricey. Again thank you for replying.

  9. We stayed at the Sheraton Seattle. We took the light link rail from the airport to the Westlake stop. It dropped us off about a block from the hotel and cost $3 per person. Then on the day of the cruise we took a pre-cruise city tour that dropped us off at the port and included transportation back to the airport after the cruise. It was $75 per person and WELL worth it. The tour was amazing and considering transportation from the pier back to the airport alone is usually around $40, I thought it was a good deal.

Can you please give me info on the Sheraton Seattle hotel? Like service, cleanness and the part of town it's located I know it will tell me of location on there web sight but I would like to get a first hand opinion. We are cruising to Alaska in June 4th 2019 out of Seattle Any info will be helpful.

    Thank you very much.

  10. Well that is embarrassing! I thought you were asking the question on the Ask A Cruise Question Board and you were on the West Coast Departures Board all along! That's what I get for skipping between Boards. :D We are staying at the Homewood Suites Seattle Downtown before and after our June 30th cruise. I'll post an opinion when we return.

Thanks much for the info. Don't be embarrassed I am the king of being embarrassed.

    Thank you.

  11. Hotel Andra had a Cruise package that provided free transportation to the pier. I don't know if the package is still being offered. I'm going out of Seattle in June.

Please excuse me for jumping in. We are on a cruise June the 4th out of Seattle with Carnival Legend. Have you stayed at this hotel? My wife and I are going out a few days before too do a bit of sightseeing we have never been to Seattle.

    Thank you.
