  1. I understand that for every day we spend on a cruise we get a point towards our mariner status.  And I think for every $300 we spend on board the ship we get a point towards our mariner status.  But does anybody know if we get any points for pre-purchasing shipboard credit. I’m horrible at saving money so sometimes it’s better for me to buy X amount in shipboard credit before I get on the ship. But I really want the Mariners points.
Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

  2. I’m sailing  April 3rd for 14 days through the Panama Canal. The only thing offered on HAL’s website is the premium Internet plan for 175.99. I don’t need nor want the premium plan.

Are the other plans no longer available? I am aware that you can use the Navigator app to communicate between cabin mates on the ship . But I only use the basic plan so I can get a Facebook to communicate with my children and family at home.. well cuisine I don’t want or need to have access to my emails are stream movies or anything of that nature.
Thanks for any insight or advice.

  3. Well this is good information to know but very disappointing. I have been trying to book online for my nine day cruise that leaves in 12 days. My online price says it’s a 14 day package $299.  Yes I did call the person I spoke with said that they were trying to reach out to the spa department find out what information is and if they would send me an email. That was over a week ago and I’ve heard nothing back. So I had to plan on booking at the first day on board getting the price break.

i’m just not sure if I’ll go there at all now though I do love the thermal suite.

Great idea!  We'll plan to do the same.  And guess the Elemis shampoo or body wash works for dish detergent too. 😉

I cannot remember where I got this from it was not my idea but I find it very helpful. I cut up some sponges in smaller sizes saturate them with dawn detergent.  Let them dry and throw them in a baggie to Travel.

  5. i've often wanted to put my CPAP in my checked bags, but I'm too worked about they way bags are handled. Last week my hard sided suitcase arrived w/a crack from Delta. I have seen luggage topple off the luggage bins and fall in the water.

I don't take any chances and just deal with my carry on. I put my cruise tag on my carrying on in case I do walk away from it.

  6. In the section “ Unvaccinated guest exemptions to vaccine standards”, the second sentence paragraph says this relates to you “vaccine exemptions”. I do not think this applies to any unvaccinated people.
Here’s a screenshot of the same answer in the frequently asked questions section.

  7. My OBC saga. As a solo traveler, when my first cruise was canceled I moved to to another one with a $600 on board credit (solo's have to pay double). A few months down the road, my sister wants to go with me. So I add her to the booking. That cruise gets cancelled too. Now my sister says she's tired of having cruises cancelled so she doesn't want to rebook. So I rebook on my own. Another 7 days cruise, but I only get $300 OBC.
When I asked my PVP, it was explained that when I added my sister, she got $300 of the original $600. OBC. So when she decides she wants to cruise again, she will have a $300 OBC. I'm like hey wait, the original cancelled cruise was booked and PAID for a a solo cruiser. My PVP responded so sorry, but now you'll have to ask your sister for the $300.00 back.  *****??

  8. At the start of the pandemic, I had a cruise booked that was cancelled. I was a solo traveler so my on board credit was $600 for my next cruise. I rebooked the cruise and then my sister wanted to go also, so I added her to the booking. Of course that cruise was canceled too. So I rebooked but now my sister didn't want to go. I only received back $300 in credit instead of my original $600,. When I added my sister to my booking, Carnival gave her half of the credit. When it was cancelled again, she got to keep that credit. Talk about feeling screwed. The PVP suggested I ask my sister for the $300. 😡

  9. I can’t remember what shifts are canceled but I think two of them were in relation to dry dock schedules. The two biggest news was they changed their Covid testing protocols to what the CDC is recommending which is two days now prior to getting on the ship instead of three days. They have also had an abundance of itinerary change with so many islands/countries being close to America’s/cruise industry.

  10. I was on the panorama December 2019. I always get a spa pass because I love the tholossal pools but the panorama is basically a gigantic hot tub. Do you walk down some stairs on your left metal bars to go the full length that everybody sits on facing the same way and it’s not even looking out the window.

Reading carefully, the poor passenger may have tested positive for covid, but it does NOT say she died from it. Many people die with covid, but the clinical cause of their demise is something not associated with the virus.

I think the general thought is that had she not had Covid it probably would not exasperated her underlying conditions. The weather she died actually have Covid or it was related to Covid I still classified as a Covid death. She probably would not have died then had she not had Covid. But we’ll never know

The two percent of the fully vaccinated Carnival Vista crew that currently have the virus would appear to refute this point. I am just saying that people are believing in this vaccine because they want to, not because the data supports it. I understand why. You took it, so you really do not want it to turn out to be worthless. I am afraid that will be the consensus in a few years.

I haven’t seen anywhere where the 2% of these crewmembers are hospitalized or died. If they in fact have caught the virus and the vaccine is doing exactly what it was created to do. Reduce transmission, reduce severity of sickness and minimize the risk of death. And I really don’t understand why you want to deny this reality.

Considering that the CDC doesn't even count breakthrough vaccinated cases anymore, there appears to be no need to assign any vaccinated cruise any status. It seems these days that these labels are only to attack, smear, and create fear for the unvaccinated.

I believe the CDC isn’t monitoring all breakthrough cases but are focusing on and monitoring any that have required hospitalizations or deaths.

Just read the new protocols on carnival.com and it states that masks are "strongly encouraged", not mandatory except as before which was during embarkation, debarkation, transportation, etc

  15. Hope springs eternal as they say. I’m very disappointed to see this but at least it validates my decision to cancel my November Horizon cruise last week. I rebooked for September 2021. But I also have a Holland cruise scheduled for April 2021. I was really hoping  with Europe opening up that we would follow suit. Heckuva way to start a Monday I feel everyone’s pain today.

  16. I am still booked on November 14, Carnival Horizon out of Miami. I did receive The cancel if you would like letter. And I am still on the fence. No there has been no further communication from Carnival regarding the new protocols that will be put into place. I’m really waiting for those to come out to make my decision but with three weeks left I’m waffling.
Also somebody pointed out yesterday if they actually do cruise in November this will almost be like having a ship come out to dry dock or a brand new ship. The first few sailings will be working out the kinks of the new protocols. do I really want to be the guinea pig?
I still haven’t made airfare because I keep thinking it’s not gonna happen and I’m tired of giving my money to big corporations to keep. Plus one of the rumors is shorten  the number of cruise days. Currently the cruise is set for 8 days. if they change it to five days then I have to change air and I’m overwhelmed with this decision.
I figure I’m gonna have to make a decision soon if Carnival doesn’t make it foe me.
