  1. Definitely premium economy.  It is a very, very long flight.

And you will not be able to make a 10:25 flight.  You need to be at the airport at least 3 hours before flight for international.

Have a good cruise.  Beautiful countries.

  2. We used air plus and got our 2nd choice going to London and our 1st choice coming home from Stockholm.  We had our choice in hand and our travel agent, Air Plus agent, and myself had a 3 way conference call.  It was about an hour.  Know what flight you want and have a 2nd to, as our first did not have space to book.

    We are on Delta.

  3. Not sure why Princess is saying AA will not change flights.  This is a big change to your booking and if over 4 hour difference they are required to let you change to a flight that you want.  Do you have your locator number?  Trying calling AA yourself if you do.  This does not make sense.  BYI I worked for airlines for over 37 years.  And if cannot accommodate, they must refund your money in full.  There are federal rules for this type of situation.

Check to see what would work for you before you make call.

  4. We went to Iceland on a Vantage tour.  We spent a couple of days in Reykjavik and then got on the Diamond Ocean.  We had our own area in the dining room, with wine and beer with meals, and our own guide and tours.  The ship is fairly basic but clean and the crew is very nice.  It is not a cruise ship per say, but a means to go from one port to another.  We usually had 8+ hour tours, so we were tired.  Every evening our guide would tell us what we were doing the next day.  We did go to the Blue Lagoon.

I would highly recommend Vantage tour.  It was 15 days, but 2 were travel days.

You can do it cheaper by booking directly, but you have to book your own tours, and they were expensive.  Plus we went more exciting places, including a snow cat ride to the top of a glacier with great views.  Highly recommended Vantage.

We had been in Reykjavik twice before, but of course this was much more intensive.

  5. I have a fantastic TA who always saves me money.  I do most of my own research because I cruise on several cruise lines, and go on longer cruises. My TA does let me know if she finds a good deal on a cruise that she thinks I might enjoy.  But I use her because she saves me money, gives me OBC, and other perks. Friends used her for an inside room, and she saved them money and gave them OBC.  And what is real money.  $50 off a 7 day cruise for an inside is money in my pocket.  Cruise line will not do that for you.  Try some of the medium size cruise agents.  I used to have 3 companies who I would ask to quote prices for a cruise.

  6. My travel agent is with an agency that does lots of business with Viking.  She has immediately gone to bat for us on any problem. I would not want an agent who did not work for you.  She is the one who told us when their Viking rep indicated to wait for Viking to cancel.

  7. This was my experience with Viking on a trip scheduled for August 24, 2020.  We booked the trip last September and paid for it shortly after that including Business Class air.  Vikings air was cheaper than anything I could find, and I looked, as we usually book our own air.  It was for a 78 day trip starting in Vancouver and ending in Sydney.

In January my travel agent, myself, and a very nice woman from Vikings air had a conference call.  I knew what flights we wanted.  Of course they want you to arrive the day of the cruise departure.  We would have arrived 3 hours before sailing and I said that I thought that was too close, so Viking waived the deviation fees and booked us the day before on the flights I wanted.

I am so glad we were booked with Viking air, because when they canceled the trip, my travel agent called.  I told her we wanted the refund, she told Viking, and 6 days later all of it was in our bank account.

I found Viking air easy to work with.  Our flights to Vancouver where changed by United.  I did not like what was rebooked so I called Viking air, and they rebooked it to flights I liked better.  Also on the United flight to Vancouver from Tampa, we were booked in F/C since there is no business class.

  8. Viking cancelled our August 24, 2020, 78 day cruise the first of June when they cancelled all of July and August cruises.  They emailed our travel agent and we also received an email. Our travel agent notified Viking that day we wanted a refund. We did not get any future information, but all of the money was in our checking account 6 days later.  Thank you Viking.

  9. We have a 78 day cruise booked with Viking the end of August.  Talked to our travel agent on Friday, and she had attended a Webinar earlier in the week with their Viking rep and he said the next wave of cancellations should be out the first of June.  Your cruise will probably canceled but only you can decide what you are comfortable with.  Since Viking's is allowing cancellation for Future cruise vouchers till 24 hours before the trip, we have decided to wait for them to cancel or we will at the last minute and take the FCV's.

Vikings policy is similar to the rest of the cruise industry.

  10. cdwise--I am a retired flight attendant from a major US airline.  I have friends who are still flying.  It is very scary.  4 flight attendants have died that worked for the airline I am retired from.  6 or 7 ground personal have died also.   Many more are sick.  The airlines are  not proving much for protection.  Most just have agreed to let flight attendants and ground crews to wear masks and gloves in the last week.  They do not provide them.  So why would a crew want to take passengers who are just off a cruise ship with passengers who have died from Covid19?  Not me.  Australia or  Holland America needs to provide a charter.  Those crew members are aware of the type of passengers they are carrying and can make decision before flight.  So I am not sure you would be so willing to fly an airplane with passengers who they know have been exposed to Covid19.  Sounds nice to say yes to something you will never be in the position to have to decide.   I think that the question should never been posted.  No one knows what they will do in difficult situations until it actually happens.

  11. On the Regal over the Holidays peanut cookies were available In the IC and the buffet but they were kept separately and you had to ask for them.  They had tongs inside the trays with lids that were only used on the peanut cookies.

  12. We were on a cruise around South America in 2017.  Several people had drones.  They had checked rules in the countries and only flew drones in countries that allowed them.  Most countries did allow drones to be flown, but rules change all the time so that should be checked before the cruise.  The cruise line, Princess would not allow them to be flown off the ship.

    Have a good trip.

It is unfortunate that posters are unpleasant.  I come on here for information.
