On her right now - no free style drink machines!  Just a refresh of rugs & walks!

Forgive me for asking without doing a search first,,,.

how is the condition of the ship ?
we were on. Brilliance last year and was disappointed that the hot tubs were way out of date - no working jets or hot.Everything seemed very worn and tired.

any good news to share on this ship ?

    thank you

  2. I’m sure I have read that people have called captains club and got the price adjusted on things.

    What items would apply ?

I was hoping it was on dinner packages ( we are elite plus) but I know it is not.

But am I missing out on anything else? Drink upgrades or wi fi upgrades ?

I should know this by now, but still get confused lol

    thank you

  3. Hello!
So many of you helped me plan our March 22 - 10 night on the Beyond, so wanted to just comment on a few things.

First our room - you can rest assured if you have room 11121. Beautiful and quiet. The odd little creak but no isssues

in sleeping or noise from the elevator. We actually loved the location as our evenings were spent at the front of the ship

at the Theatre, or the Club so super convenient taking the elevator right to our room. Also a good chance of running into

Captain Kate as well in the elevator/ stair ways. We had prime view of her out of the infinite veranda when she was at the helm. ( for those die hard fans lol)

-Our sailing was filled to the brim making most venues busy busy busy ! But the production shows, the Eden shows and the performances in the Club are not to be missed. We headed to the theatre at 8:40 to get our seats for the 9:30 show and by 9 pm most were taken. So you must go early !

-We stayed on board for two ports and enjoyed the pools . We did not want to fight for a sun chair and most were occupied by 8:30 on sea days so we decided right away we would enjoy the ship and the talks on sea days and not have this rushing up early morning to grab one. Made the experience much better for us.

    - Behind the scene tour was enjoyable but we could see no need to charge the high price they do. Unless it’s to ensure

small groups.I forget the sale price we got pre cruise but if it wasn’t for the large Sbc we had, we would never have paid it.

    Definitely a one and done.

    - We were joining a group of 4 friends and even though we were assured we would be dining with them each night, we were assigned different tables. If this happens to you…..there is a hostess up the stairs on deck 4 outside Cosmopolitan and Cyprus . Visit there as soon as you board . She had it fixed so day 1 we were set for the 10 nights.( same dining room, same table and  same servers ! )

Thanks to you all for all your tips! They certainly helped make our cruise a wonderful one,

    cheers

  4. First E ship we did was the Edge.

without even the deck plans stating where public rooms were, we booked Deck 3 port side. We had been on a S class same location and loved it. Big cost savings as we were squeezing this cruise in after a 2 week on Equinox balcony. Why not ?

well…noise is why we shouldn’t have booked it !

you could hear the boom boom boom from the Club going to 2 am.
after 3 nights and a note to the hotel director that was not answered, I went back to Customer service and with my exhausted face, said please, have them turn the bass down so we can get some sleep.

They offered us another room, that someone had complained about, and said leave your things in your deck 3 room and just pop up there to sleep. What ???

we were so exhausted we took the $200 they offered us as compensation, ( no we didn’t sleep upstairs lol) but once home decided to contact the post resolution dept. We had 2 special weeks on Equinnox and just felt that for what they charged us ( at the time really high as the Edge was new) we were taken advantage of. ( and sleep deprived lol we agreed)

They did cough up more for us btw, but I knew there was no way

they didn’t already know these rooms had issues…and yes they kept selling them.

that was back in 2019….so this all about the money and it’s all because of the new CEO isn’t all right. They were then too!

just wanted to share that experience

    thanks

    Brockmom 🍷

fingers crossed, we board Beyond next Friday. May be a never again for us too on the E class.May be a beautiful ship, but mama bear

    needs her sleep lol

yup.. here's a similar though less  serious story,  but it does show how staff can ruin things.

We booked Fine Cut on our first EDGE cruise. It was. pre paid on our cred card months before the res date. We selected  our usual  6 p.m.early time.. to fit my dietary req  and to avoid noise coming up from the Martini Bar area

We stopped in a day ahead just before dinner time to re- confirm..A nasty, pompous maitre d said.. We have switched you to 8 p.m. to give you a better experience..total bs.. No notice no nothing..

We said if he could not restore our res time, just cancel our res. He actually refused.  As guests were now lining up, I  was quite  mortified but decided to match  his attitude.. and  refused to budge from the front of his podium.

..Eventually he relented and cancelled our res but made my husb  go back to our room to get the paperwork...We have .no idea who got our res or why this was such a big deal to cancel.

.  We went to Guest Rel  next day and cancelled ALL our specialty dining and told them why..

This also  happened to others at EDEN...overbooked....split up  families to diff times etc

All I can say abt OPs situation is that  IT REALLY stinks ...

    Great example.

The few times I have had an issue on board or with a booking, the bad experience ones were always where there was no empathy shown. And this one I agree with the OP, when delivering a message like he received about not getting his PH, it should have come from someone who is going to offer assistance and compensation for this for whatever reason, mess up.

I sure hope someone posts who is in that room !

    I’m dying to know !

sorry to the OP for their behaviour…go and enjoy

    making me crave lobster!

how did u make the reservations?

We Like Barbados but agree about chaotic bus terminal..

We used  to get beautiful flowers to take back on board from a  vendor in the port bldg.. also some nice non touristy shops from what I recall

Our go to place is Peebles beach in Barbados.( beside the Hilton) There is a local fish cutter truck wagon with a killer flying fish sandwich.( Cuz)

amazing !  That is our lunch ! lol ( get it with cheese)

if you ever want a beach day with a cheap, but amazing fish sandwich ,

    give it a try !

The crew go here …so you know it’s good !
    cheers

Sailed Beyond out of New York last September on deck 8 (can’t remember the exact room number).  Had the “popping” noise the first night.  Spoke with Customer Service next day and we were upgraded to Concierge and moved to deck 11.  All was quiet after that.  We’re on Apex in September - hoping it’s all resolved by then.

Were you anywhere near 11121 ? We have that room in March.

    thanks

Totally agree with the OP.  Seems like all you have to do is find someplace quiet to read and, invariably, some loudmouth or noisy group will sit down next to you.  I would love to see a designated "Quiet Area" like they do for smokers.

    Me too me too !!!

I’m always that one that people who want to crank the music seem to gravitate too…

Even on deck 17 on Reflections and only 6 people are enjoying the sun and peace and quiet….

the entire deck…..and guess where the man had to pull his chair…

    right behind me and hubby…..

    Really ?

    lol

I will try it then as well as Conundrum. Thanks for the recommendations. Boarding Ascent with Premium package on Sunday. If we have to pay the difference on either or both, that is fine. We like Mer Soleil Chardonnay and Bordeau Blend. We don't like heavy red wines or sweet wines although a dry Reisling is fine.

    Enjoy !

i will drink both on Beyond and Ascent  later in the year..

as well even if there is an up charge. But there was not last month

    on Reflections. So fingers crossed

very poor look for BLU....looks like what might be served at a weight loss spa! (other than the dessert)

everyting including the salmon should have been doubled and the carrots cooked!

I usually order a baked potato and eat half but wonder how tiny that will be.

    lol thanks for,saying that !

I just showed my hubby and said….darling …you would go

    hungry !

    Is it a sweet wine?

    No not at all

By name I would never have even thought of trying it….

but my sister in law who works in a winery …insisted.

well thank you sister in law !

it was light smooth and delicious

Other than Conundrum, it was the only other wine we ordered .

Our sommelier recommended both  as his favourites

I hope the price hasn’t gone up on that one too !
