  1. Does anyone know which ports we tender at?

Is it worth getting off in Jamaica?

We were going to do Sunset Beach but they raised the price from $40 to $60? Is it worth $60?

    Thanks everyone!!!

We have been in Jamaica three times now and we loved it everytime.

We're planing on going to Sunset beach next month. I think it's worth $60 for all Food and drinks that are included.

  2. Another question is booking of excursions. Someone told me that it is better to book through Carnival since that gaurantees you are back before departure, but others told me that you are better to book on your own since it is cheaper?? And I am trying to convince my wife to do the race fantastique over the tulum ruins?? any thoughts?

Dh & I had our first cruise in march. personally, i was glad i booked with the cruiseline. it was nice knowing i didn't have to worry about the time, that our tour guides would have us back in time. I also knew my excursion would happen, or we would be reimbursed by carnival. also, i felt a bit safer, especially in jamaica after reading some of the stuff there. perhaps after we have a few cruises under our belts, we will be a little more confident in venturing out on our own. but for now, we'll book through the cruise lines. plus, you can get off the boat quicker when you tender in. for me, it was not that much more of a price to pay to have that peace of mind. for other more experienced cruisers, i think alot of them do their own. i'm too chicken now. frankly, worrying about port time, ship time, day light savings time and all that stuff...heck, that was too confusing for me lol. i wanted to keep it simple.

have fun whichever way you choose. you can find lots of great advice here on booking your own stuff too if you choose that route.

Hey Almost Packed, we cruiesed together back in March and we're going again 10. Feb.

Also booking through the ship will guarantie you that the ship will wait on you ,should your excursion be late for whatever reason. Remember we left a guy behind in Jamaica and their friends were asked to get on the ship or they could stay behind and wait on their friend? They got on the ship and we left without their friend.

    :)
