  1. We were on for 60 days last fall.   That was the worst library we have experienced on a ship.  They had plenty of reference books, but very few you could take out.   The other passengers would still around like vultures waiting for someone to drop off one of their own books, then get in arguments about who was there first.   We asked about this and the crew member said there were no books because the guests kept taking them.  We hope this has improved since last fall, but we still take our own books.

  2. Does anyone know if they will be running the Circle North Pacific cruise in the future?   It was a 60 day cruise from LA to Alaska,

Japan, China, Korea, Vietnam, Philippines, Guam, Hawaii, than back to LA.   What a great time!!  It is not on the future schedule, at least not where I can find it.

  3. Anyone been on the Circle North Pacific cruise from Princess? I don't know if they have run this cruise before and I would like to know if anyone has any good tips for the Japan, China and Vietnam ports. The ship sails on Sep 19th. from Los ngeles. Thanks in advance!

  4. The ship is wonderful but isn't profitable. She will be sold and will fill out any scheduled bookings even if under a different name. This probably won't happen for another year or so.

Scheduled to sail on Pacific on Jan. 9th, 2020. So it will at least be around until then.

  5. Why do they advertise their cabins as guarantee, when they know what cabins are vacant? I plan to spend about $26000 for a cruise, I want to know where I am going to be. The last (and only) guarantee cabin I had was on Deck 3, over the engines. The cabin vibrated terribly, usually at 3 AM.

  6. If you are speaking about the 2019 World Cruise RT L.A. on the Pacific Princess I do see balcony and mini suite cabins available for the 111 day cruise that are not guarantee. There are also cabins available in various categories for the different segments. If you really want to go in 2019 then try searching each segment separately. If you really want to go in 2020 those bookings should open sometime this spring.

Thanks a lot sknight! That is why I love these boards. It is easier to get an answer here than from the cruise lines!

  7. My DW and I would love a world cruise. Does anyone know when the 2020 cruises are posted on the Princess website? What is left for January 2019 are all guarantee cabins. If Princess has cabins to sell, why don't they put them on the website, instead of expecting a couple to pay 70-80 thousand for a guarantee?

  8. Thanks Bonnie. I was afraid of that. So now I'm wondering if I should cancel at the last minute and then rebook after final payment when the rate goes down or additional benefits are offered. I guess I'll wait until closer to final payment to determine what I'll do.

I had to cancel an Azamara Cruise to Cuba for November of 2018. They have yet to send us back our deposit, but they charged us $100 for a cancellation fee. I have been on 37 cruises, and had to cancel a few, but never was charged a fee for cancelling, and this is 14 months before the cruise. What a ripoff!

  9. On the Constitution (since sunk in Hawaii) in 1959, they stretched a bedsheet across the promenade deck and showed "Bambi" as the movie to keep the kids entertained. A man used to walk the hallways tapping on a xylophone to announce that it was dinnertime.

  10. On the Eclipse last April, they were charging $10 for a bottle of Stella, plus $1.80 tip. Maybe I am an old cheapo, but I get Stella at Costco for a buck a bottle. They would sell more if they brought the price back to 6 or 7 bucks.

  11. I was surprised that they stopped the little prizes at Trivia, and the mints outside of the dining room. C'mon, Celebrity, boost the price by $10 each and put some of the little touches back. And you really ought to stop charging $11.80 for a Stella beer. You could sell more at $7.00 each.

  12. I have heard the Intercontinental and Hyatt are the better hotels in that area. The Holiday Inn Downtown is right across the street from the Bayside Marketplace, but it has the dirtiest rooms we have ever stayed in. The maintenance is very bad in the rooms, and the carpets are filthy. Do not walk on them with bare feet. They have the best location and they know it, so they can charge over $300 per night. Never again for us!
