  1. I am considering booking a 1 bedroom concierge suite (category 2B) on the Disney Dream and am wondering how comfortable the sofa beds are in those staterooms.  It would need to be used and I'm trying to be sure that it will be good and not result in a bad night's sleep.

Plus, some of the photos I've seen appear to show that the balconies are enclosed.  Is this true?

    Thank you!

Just got off our cruise on Monday. The day of the glacier our captain announced we would be going up Tracy Arm vs Endicott. We were on the small boat glacier explorer and got SO CLOSE to the glacier, it was fantastic! Our ship, Disney Wonder, was still a fair distance away. We did Endicott in 2017, also on the Wonder, and got way closer on the ship that year. That was end of August 2017 vs end of July 2022.

I'm going to be sailing the Wonder soon and I'm curious as to how big the glacier explorer boat was and how rough was the trip?  I have to be careful with seasickness but would love to get closer to a glacier!  Plus, there's a 100% chance it will be raining the day we are there.  LOL - just my luck.
    Thank you!!

  3. I'm going on an Alaskan cruise on the Wonder soon and I read that Disney cannot do the fireworks during those cruises.  I'm wondering if they still have the Pirate night even without the fireworks.  I checked a variety of roll calls and they don't seem to be very active so I'm hoping that someone here can answer my question.

    Thank you in advance!

  4. Vacations To Go has a single discounts site that is showing a lot of listings where the single supplement is being waived.

I just booked Royal Caribbean's Independence of the Seas 14-day transatlantic for May 4th for $860.38 for an interior. Even the RCCL rep I worked with could not believe the prices for this cruise and tripled checked it before booking.

  5. Hi Everyone.

I'm also Platinum on Princes and love Princess. I've also sailed on Disney, HAL, RCCL, and Norwegian. I've enjoyed them all but I like some better than others.

In March I did Norwegian coastal cruise on Hurtigruten (working ship) and that was amazing. Then in May I did my first Viking river cruise in Russia. That is what sold me on Viking. Even though it was an older ship it was clean and everything was kept in top notch working order. The staff and crew were so nice and friendly and the food was wonderful.

I was trying to figure out what Viking I wanted to do next when the information on the Star came and I couldn't resist. I'm really looking forward to what they are going to do to ocean cruising. Once one factors in all of the included things - excursions, soda, wine and beer at lunch and dinner among others - I think the price is very competitive.

I just wish we didn't have to wait so long to sail! ;)

  6. I am so glad that this thread exists! So far, I am the only one posting on the roll call I started for the cruise I have booked so it will be really nice to at least have a group of Viking Star passengers to chat with.

My best friend and I are booked on the Viking Star for the Mediterranean Odyssey sailing October 27, 2015.

I've only been on one Viking river cruise but was so impressed that I know I will plan another one. I was looking at them when they announced the Star and I was lost. We are very excited about the new ship and the itinerary.

I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone!

  7. Does anybody know which ship David Cole is the Cruise Director on currently? I was on the Golden in November 2008 and he was the CD on that ship. Is he still on the Golden? I am going on the Golden in July and am hoping he will still be there. On the short amount of cruises I've been on, David is my favorite. What do all of you think of David Cole?

I love David and think he is the best CD in the Princess fleet. He has been on the Sapphire Princess for the last couple of years but just tweeted that he is moving back to the Golden this month. So, unless he is on vacation when you cruise, he should be the CD on the Golden. Enjoy your cruise!

  8. I cruised to Hawaii on the Golden Princess in December and we were in D736. It is a Vista Suite with what was described by Princess as an "obstructed" view. I am attaching photos of the "obstruction" and want to say that it in no way interfered with our enjoyment of the balcony or the view.

If there had been more than just the 2 of us, sitting at the table would have required some adjustments, but as it was we did not have any problems. I would gladly sail in that cabin again any time.

  9. If you want extra Patters just ask the steward for them. I get one set to mark up and one set for the scrapbook. I've also seen recommendations to use glow sticks, necklaces or bracelets as nightlights. They are cheap and can be put in multiple locations.

Love boards liks this - thanks for starting it!

  10. Thanks for the nice words, cruisers. This is Dave - I am on vacation through June 11th when I will return to Golden and work the Alaska cruises until the end of the Alaska season. I'll take another break in late September and return to the Hawai'i cruises the day before Thanksgiving - it's be the first time in 5 years that I won't be there for the start-up of Hawai'i! But I will be on for Christmas & New Year 2012, and am planning some great things for the season & the holidays!

I am so glad someone posted this question!! I have been trying to find out if David is going to be the CD when my best friend and I do the Hawaii cruise leaving December 7th. My hubby and I were on the Hawaii cruise in January 2010 and we had a great time thanks to Dave and his wonderful staff.

You all do an incredible job with keeping a ship of 2600 entertained for 8 sea days and 5 port days! So glad you will be the CD on the cruise - I am looking forward to seeing you again! :D
