  1. If the NCL chat room can be trusted, the following is a conversation I had on-line last Friday. BTW, I am scheduled to sail on the Jade for Sept.

    Me= (6/4/2021, 4:46:00 PM): If the USA still requires a covid test prior to returning, will NCL assist with this? If so, will we be charged for the test?

    Dashawn (6/4/2021, 4:47:29 PM): No there will be no charge

    Me=(6/4/2021, 4:48:09 PM): So NCL will assist with getting the tests done?

    Dashawn (6/4/2021, 4:50:02 PM): That is correct.

    Me=(6/4/2021, 4:50:13 PM): Thank you!

  2. I don't remember what hotel it is, but there is one almost right across the street from the port that will store your luggage for a small fee. (We did this in 2017, so I do not remember the exact fee, but it was small.)

    We explored one of the forts before taking a cab to the airport. With the amount of time you have, you may be able to explore a few of them.

    Thanks!

  3. We sailed Aug 19th cruise and had a late flight (4:00 pm). We took a tour (SH Happy tours) when we left the ship and wished we hadn't. We sat on a new bus for 45 minutes waiting for them to find more people and then switched to a different bus that was old with limited air conditioner. Tour consisted of touring around Old San Juan to Condado with a stop at the beach, and outside the fort (about 30 minutes total). We were dropped off in Old San Juan for an 1 1/2 then driven to the airport. My original intent was to take my luggage to Barrachina to be held there, explore Old San Juan, grab lunch and then take a cab to the airport. I wish I had stuck with my original plans.

    Thanks for the heads up!

  4. We will be docking in San Juan on Sunday, Oct. 7th and our flight has been delayed and does not leave until 4:00 pm. We have already paid Carnival for ship to airport transfers. We would like to spend the time visiting Old San Juan, but we are not sure what we can do with our luggage and carry-ons. Also, will we lose our money for the transfers if we decide to tour the town before going to the airport? Any suggestions?

  5. We sailed Fascination in February.

    We were very surprised when our magnets did NOT stick to the walls nor to the ceiling!

    Apparently the walls and ceiling are either not metal or don't have enough metal for magnets.

    Thanks for the info!

  6. Any experience out there regarding arriving past your assigned window time? We have a longer drive to the port and are hoping to make a 10:30 boarding time. If we are an hour late due to traffic, will it have a negative affect on allowing us to check in? I realize we may have to stand longer in line if we have to come in when others are assigned at a later time.

  7. I'm very interested to hear the OP's review on the two lines. We traveled on NCL for the first time (Norwegian Dawn) in March out of NOLA. We are booked on the Carnival Conquest next week out of Fort Lauderdale. This will be our first Carnival cruise in 20 years. I'm anxious to see the differences between the two cruises. On NCL we booked an interior cabin and got an upsell to a balcony in the last week for $20. No such luck for our interior cabin on Carnival. There were a lot of spring breakers on NCL which did not help our experience, but overall, we enjoyed the cruise. We are really looking forward to see how Carnival compares!

  8. This may be a silly question, but what would "weddings" have to do about getting on board the ship? Is this due to people getting off the ship from the previous cruise or wedding groups boarding? Either way, why would that delay the process?

  9. Lanameister, I'm glad your TA was able to get something out of NCL. Congrats! We just noticed NCL is now offering a guaranteed balcony for less money than what we paid for our inside cabin. We called to see if we could upgrade and they refused. We also asked if they would consider offering us any of the nicer "extras" such as the UBP since we apparently overpaid for our indoor cabin, and they also refused. I asked very nicely, but no go. We are definitely not impressed with NCL's cust serv! As a first time cruiser on NCL, I can vouch that the other cruise lines are definitely more generous and willing to work with the customer.
