  1. Thanks for your thoughts everyone, it's a cruise leaving London (Dover). RCCL seems to have links to a application that can be submitted in advance. I wouldn't be expecting any kind of discount, kinda weird to think anyone would think they deserve that, and I completely understand taking my own bags off. We'de just rather spend an extra day on land instead of a sea day and then just fly home from where we debarked, just trying to maximize vacay time.

  2. Hi all, looking for any first hand experience with downlining or disembarking early from a European itinerary on Carnival? Rccl has a FAQ on their website as well as MSC, not sure info for Carnival? Maybe not posted since they don't do as many Europe cruises. Looking to disembark in Copenhagen instead of return to London. Any insight is helpful :)

    Thanks

  3. Nice write up :)

We just did the 10 day Med on the Horizon. I found this new way of muster soooo much easier and better myself. Our muster was right in the area of Alchemy and Ji'jis. We went as soon as they started to announce it and they were scanning a card for each room and checking to make sure that whoever was rooming with you. As they went thru the Ipad list of names they started to call out certain names and we did end up hearing those names called over the PA system. Once they got started it was quick going thru the info. And much nicer than standing out on a hot deck shoulder to shoulder. Just my thoughts and experience tho.

  4. The reason why I posted this is I did not see any negative posts about his tours so I had absolutely no idea. I have no problem with someone making money off the tours (I'm all for entrepreneurship) but, once you are making money, you become at least morally (if not legally) responsible. I just wanted to warn others.

Glad you made it back ok, pretty scary situation tho when your entrusting someone. Sounds like somewhat common knowledge on other pages that this is how they get to travel so much, on someone elses dime. And some people will always do it. Good advice too in general to try and get all the details of the vendor. If the "TA" refuses to share even after you've paid for the tour that's shady. Sad thing is it's becoming common occurrence, after being burned I know I'll be checking things out more in detail before booking with someone who "is not making any money off booking a tour, just helping out of the goodness of their heart" Shady.

  5. Nice review...we were on this sailing as well!! Its really fun to read what others did and experienced at different excursions!!

I do recognize our friends and my son's blue hat in the St Maarten pics..we were on the same bus with Simon :)

Glad you had a great time!!

  6. Don't remind me - I wish I was still sailing :p

My husband and I loved Bernard's Tour II. Our guide (DJ) was great, really personable but also professional! We got some great shots at the overlooks. We didn't stop at the Iguana Farm as it's currently relocating, and there was also no one holding sea urchins or anything and asking for tips, like I'd read about. We had two relaxing hours at Orient Beach ($10 for 2 chairs, an umbrella, and two rum punches), a delicious lunch at Sarafina's, and about 45 minutes at Maho. We made it in juuuuust in time (about 5 minutes before) the big AirFrance Airbus came in, which was awesome!! Overall, highly recommended and a great day. I'm not sure I would do it again if I went to St. Maarten, just because I don't know if I need to hear all the history and such twice, but it's great for a first-timer to the island. I would have loved to spend more time at Maho - Sunset had a great vibe. We were back at the port around 3pm, which gave us some time to shop around the port without rushing back onto the ship. Overall, loved it :D

Hi do you remember how much time you had in Marigot?

    Thanks :)

  7. I booked with Dion for last week. We never heard the announcement that we could get off the ship, so by the time we did get off and find him, his boat was full. He sent us with someone else from D&D Tours. We had to wait about 40 minutes for them to get enough other people to fill the boat going over. I was annoyed. Besides that, the trip was good. A little chopping going there and back, but fine.

My problem was that we were traveling with a 5 y.o. and 3 y.o. We were left on the beach and weren't able to get through the caves and rocks to the bath or were the restaurant and facilities were. We ended up being "trapped" on the beach for 4 hours. Luckily we had water and a few boxes of cheerios from the ship. I wouldn't recommend this tour for families with small kids.

Just curious why you couldnt get thru the caves and rocks? We're travelling with a 6 year old. Thanks :)
