Thank you for the nice review. I just got off the Grand on 9/23. I agree- She’s a pretty nice older ship but there are a few things that need to be upgraded. I loved the new mattress and thought the Princess@Sea app worked the best ever. It would be great if they could post the dining room menus. It would help us decide where we want to eat.
Thanks for posting and score on the upgrade.

I just got off the Grand and they had the new mattresses. Loved it. Best sleep ever on a cruise ship.

I wish they would. I like to cruise more often than the people who I normally cruise with so have cruised a couple times solo with Princess, but due to the single supplement, I am trying out other lines that are more solo friendly. Princess is my favorite line, but I am finding some of the other lines that cater more to solos are doing a good job and they are getting my $$$

We asked our server as the tea was so good in the dining room. She told us it was Lipton tea bags. She said the secret was not to squeeze the bags. They are taught to just let them steep and take them out carefully. It was strong, but good. Not sweet unless you add sweetener.

I’ve taken Amtrak several times into Emeryville and then taken the bus to the pier. It’s an easy walk with luggage as long as you can walk about 1/2 mile. It’s better if it’s not raining g but, I’ve done it in the rain and it wasn’t too bad. We just walked faster and the sidewalk was not as crowded.

I just booked this NCL Epic Studio Trans Atlantic $1699 for 16 days 11/22/19-12/9/19 leaving from Barcelona to San Juan Puerto Rico. 8 ports along the way. $50 to reserve and you can pick one perk.

You'll Enjoy the Panama Canal cruise on the Coral. It’s a nice sized ship. Easy to get around and never feeling crowded. Having a balcony going through the Locke’s is a thrill.
We enjoyed the food in the dining room, buffet, and all the venues. Our room steward was great, and I have found most of them on Princess are attentive.
I’ve never been on Carnval but find the staff on Princess more attentive than on another line.
Enjoy!

I’m using Barcelona Day Tours for a half day tour prior and a full day tour after. They have been very responsive and I like the ship to hotel delivery.

I’ve cruised through the Panama Canal on the Coral and loved this ship. Perfect size. I shared a balcony with a friend, but I have taken other cruises solo. I think I would have been comfortable going solo on the Coral. Since you are with them for two weeks, the steward and staff get to know you pretty quickly if you show up for the various games and activities. I have a solo booked with NCL in May but it will be my first time with them. I have heard they cater to solos so it may come down to which one fits your needs. Either way, you will have a great time.

I’m Robin, my next cruise will be Solo. First time in a studio on Epic.

I’ve mostly cruised with Princess, three times with Royal and my upcoming cruise in May is on the Norweign Epic. I’ve been trying other lines mainly due to itinerary. Hopefully I’ll like it, but any day on a ship is a better day than on land.

I’ve done two and just booked a third for next year. Can’t wait!

Beautiful pictures! Thank you for posting.
We woke up early Sunday morning, checked out, and drove to nearby Placerita Canyon. The superbloom was in full force and it was gorgeous. We did some hiking and took some pictures.Walking through the canyon:

I always get future cruise credits. Only once were they refunded as I didn't use them all. I did book once while on the ship. 8 of us had a fantastic Alaska RT cruise from San Francisco. While sitting on the deck on a sunny San Francisco morning, we called our travel agent and booked for a full transit of the Panama Canal. We had 8 months to look forward to our next cruise!

Correct. No fees.

Hello
You can use your room card or put in cash and your winnings will go on your account via your card. You decide how much you want to play with on a given machine and then transfer the amount back to your account. You can cash it out at the cashier. If you forget to cash out or transfer your money back to your account, they'll call your stateroom and remind you to come in and cash out.
Enjoy your cruise!

I agree with Bruce. I turned my phone on fir just a minute during a Califirnia Coastal and got a telephone call which cost me $50 due to not having international roaming. I now turn my phone on airplane mode on the ship to be safe and turn it in when dicked in a US port.
