  1. We love to cruise to the Caribbean around the end of January or beginning of February when we're very tired of cold, dreary weather and we can soak up some wonderful sunshine! Being from south Texas, our winters are mild, but we still get seasonal affective disorder when we haven't seen the Sun in awhile!

  2. Below is an answer to my email about Loyalty Level being incorrect on the website.

"A new update to reflect the correct tier level by reciprocity in the Guest Account will happen after the week of October 12."

Even though our online account does not show the correct reciprocal status yet, our cruise documents for Oct 13 aboard Quest reflect the correct status. Something is going right!!! Thank you, to whoever made that happen!!

  3. That's because the shower curtain never made love to you in the most personal places :):D

Don't ever bend over to pick up the soap!

Three or four "chip clips" (like the ones used to close potato chip bags) clipped on the bottom of the shower curtain keep it in its proper, and less intimate, place.

  4. R ships have extremely tiny bathrooms....It seems sad that Azamara hasn't found a way to refit the ships to create larger cabins. It would be nice if Azamara built new ships.

If you've ever watched TV programs about building cruise ships, it's clear why the cabins can't be enlarged. They are built as individual modules, sort of plug-and-play, and inserted into the hull. They are virtually complete when inserted, with plugging in plumbing and electrical as the only things left to be done. No way to move walls like you could do in a house.

  5. Interesting call today from Azamara shore excursions checking to see if we would be attending the upcoming AzAmazing Evening in Ashdod and if we wanted to part with any onboard credit by booking shore excursions.

I asked about the reciprocal status thing not showing up online, even though I was pretty sure this gentleman was not the one to ask. He very kindly got into my reservation, said that we are Elite with X (by reciprocity with RCI) and, therefore, Discoverer with AZ. I thought it was really great that, even though that's not his department, he was well-informed and went above and beyond to help me. I'm impressed!!

  6. Wow! I did get a nice response from Azamara. They are aware of the issue and are working on it, according to their response.

    Part of the response below:

  7. My Azamara Discoverer Status comes from my status on Royal Caribbean. Prior to the new website status showed correctly and on our recent cruise 8/30 no problem with status onboard Journey. I don't think the rep(s) who answer the phone are correct. Check out Bonnie's post #45 in this thread for more information and the email address to write to about this.

I sent an email to that address yesterday but, so far, no response. We'll see if they have any different info... if they respond.

  8. Lisa, have you heard back about your account? Our situation is the same--we are Platinum on RCI so our reciprocal level is Explorer, but we are showing Adventurer based on our two Azamara cruises.

I called the LCV number and they said only points from Azamara and Celebrity show up online. In order to get reciprocal benefits during an AZ cruise, an RCI Crown & Anchor member with C&A status needs to go to the Loyalty desk upon embarkation and ask for the benefits. I'm assuming some sort of proof of status is required.

Seems a little strange to have to ask...one would think that information would be in a cruise profile somewhere, since all three lines are owned by RCI.... guess not. We'll be asking at the Loyalty desk in a few weeks.

  9. Hi CapeCodFlyer,

Glad you enjoyed the experience. Azamara is our "go to" for cruising and has been for many years because of almost all you have noted and more . . .

We also found the duvets too heavy and requested a blanket . . . no problem. :)

Knowing how busy "changeover day" is, we email the ship requesting this a few days before the cruise start date so the room can be made up as we prefer it, rather than cause our stateroom attendants to turn around and re-make the bed after we board.

How do you email the ship? I know we'd like a blanket rather than the duvet....

  10. Good idea, Azamarajunkie and Uktog. I’ll have a think about how best to set out such a document. I think it would have to be a word document as I don’t think a spreadsheet would work.

I’m on holiday at the moment, in Greece, so it will be a while before I can put it together.

First, let me say this thread is fabulous for those of us who are Azamara virgins!!

    Here's a thought for a document:

Maybe a spreadsheet (Excel) or table (Word) with first column for category and second column for tips/info. Then the reader can sort on the first column and there is no need for a contributor to figure out how to format an additional bit of info into an existing category... Just add it to the end of the document.

Please let me know if I can help with that. Thank you again!!

  11. Works well. Past cruise history and LCV points are spot on. One niggle though, I have eleven future Azamara bookings but the limit to display seems to be nine.

I'm a bit confused. I know that only Celebrity cruises count on AZ, but if we're Diamond or above on RC, shouldn't we be Discoverer on AZ?. That's not the level that appears so I'm wondering how that will be resolved at boarding.

  12. Hi Bonnie

I cannot access my account. When I try to sign in with username/password, it brings up a screen asking for my email address. When I type in my email address, it tells me that I must sign in with my email address. When I try to do that, I get rejected. I tried an alternate email address and got rejected I tried both 5 times!!!!!

    Tom

I found that I had used my email address with RC so had to use my RC password. You might try that, if it applies...

  13. Continental breakfast is free. Hot items breakfast will incur a $7.95 charge per order plus 18%

When did this begin? We haven't been on RC in about a year-and-a-half and this is news to me. Irritating news, I might add.... Another example of the nickel and diming that I've witnessed over the last 17 years since our first RC cruise.

  14. I agree, we’ve been there three times as a cruise port. We did quite like a boat tour we had on the creek, but not much else - it’s just a shrine to consumerism.

We will be there for 3 days and plan to take the boat tour of the creek. Anything else you recommend for a first-time visitor??

  15. Not wanting to sit next to someone because they may have different taste in clothes seems a tad superficial to me. I would prefer to sit next to someone, interesting, funny and kind hearted however they dress, remember “clothes do not make the man (or women)”

Amen!! Some of the most interesting people I've ever met had what I considered very different taste in attire!!! They were more about experiences than appearances.

  16. Thank you, everyone, for the valuable information. After several phone calls today, I was finally connected to the Emergency Travel Team. It seems that if we want to spend the night ashore while the ship remains in a port overnight, we just need to let Guest Relations know after we are onboard.

If, however, we want to get off the ship in one port, stay overnight on shore, and reboard in a subsequent port, we must apply through the Emergency Travel Team and pay $65 (non-refundable) per cabin. The ETT will take our request under consideration and say yes or no. If yes, we are responsible for all travel, including border crossings, as well as any ensuing expenses such as visas or entrance/exit taxes.

The person I spoke to said something about the requirement to return to the ship 3 hours prior to departure. I'm hoping that's only for the second situation, due to the need to process and clear the paperwork.

    Again, thank you!!!

  17. Yes, just tell Guest services - also a good idea to let your steward know. We did this on the Athens to Dubai Cruise last year as we did an overnight tour to Luxor.

Thank you so much for that info!! Your cruise itinerary was similar to our Athens to Dubai itinerary this year, except the overnights for us are Ashdod, Aqaba, and Muscat. We plan to spend a night in both Jerusalem and Petra in order to experience more of the culture and not to waste time driving back and forth to the ship.

We will check into visas required and inform Guest Services and our room steward of our plan prior to arrival at those ports.
