  1. I’m assuming the new suite designation and its perks also means suite level gratuities?
We booked the VO on th Grandeur yesterday and I asked to add gratuities as well. They added at the normal rate of $14.50pp/day. I pointed it out to the TA and he just said it was an error that worked out in my favor.

I'm concerned if this cabin will really be a full suite or not, but I've been assured by multiple people from RCL and the TA that it is indeed a full suite.

  2. I made the switch. It was $200 less to switch to the VO from the JS. I will miss the balcony, but it's better for the family.

I had the TA add the gratuities, and they added at the regular $14.50pp/day rate instead of the suite rate. I pointed it out to the TA and he just kinda shrugged it off and said I guess it works in my favor. I'm hoping what I'm hearing is right and we do get full suite benefits.

  3. I am currently booked in a corner aft Junior Suite on the Granduer for next November on a 7-day Bahamas cruise. I am considering switching to the one and only Ocean View suite, category VO, cabin 8000. This larger, non-balcony cabin is about $200 cheaper for the 4 of us. My husband and I are weighing the pros and cons and we are split on the decision.

With the JS, we have less space for the four of us (children will be 6 and 8), but we would have a balcony with a beautiful aft view. With the Suite, we will have full suite benefits (according the RCL website, my TA, and 2 RCL customer service reps) and 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms to spread out into.

Anyone have any input? Personal experiences? This is our first cruise as a family and I just don't know what I should prefer: the space and suite perks, or the balcony.

  4. It sounds like security may have suspected that you were slipped something in one of those shots, and I can see why. I know that it would take me more than a few hours of sleep to recover from that much tequila. I’m glad it didn’t end any worse for you.
This was exactly what I thought when I was reading this story. I've had friends that were slipped something in their drinks and their experience was very similar to the OP's.

OP... thank you for sharing your story. I'm glad that security was so understanding and patient with you. I think most people have been there at some points in their lives, but not everyone is so candid about it.

  5. I've been lurking on this thread for a couple days and wanted to add my 2 cents.

I am an inexperienced cruiser who just booked my first cruise with RCL last week. We will be on a trip to the Bahamas on the Grandeur in November 2019.

I decided to book RCL over Carnival based mostly on CocoCay. Take a look at the RCL website, it is inundated with CocoCay! That waterpark looks awesome, and I think my kids will love it.

I will be very upset if they cancel that port, and it will feel like a "bait & switch" situation. I understand they can pretty much do whatever they want because of the contract, but does that mean they should? At what point does customer service matter, regardless of the one-sided contract?

My opinion is that they should do the right thing, even if they don't have to. Their construction timelines are way off and they are upsetting a lot of cruisers. If that continues and they dont make things right, people will choose other cruise lines or other types of vacations.

  6. I just booked a November 16, 2019 cruise with Grandeur of the Seas, to Port Canaveral, CocoCay, and Nassau. When I look at the cruise planner, I have lots of options for shore excursions for Nassau and CocoCay, but I'm noticing 2 things:

    1) There is nothing for Port Canaveral. Not a single shore excursion. This can't be right, right?

    2) The options for CocoCay show nothing about the waterpark options. I believe it should be finished by then, and I've seen others with July 2019 cruises say that they can see the waterpark options in their Cruise Planner.

My assumption is that it's too early to view the PC and waterpark options? If that's the case, when should I expect to see them?

    Thanks for your help!
