  1. This is not an issue for me when traveling with my small immediate family.  However, for our upcoming family cruise of 20 people, I am looking for suggestions when it comes to tipping to give to others in the group:

    1. Shuttle from FLL airport to miami cruise port - 13 PAX.
    2. Shuttle driver in Ocho Rios to take use from port, blue hole, zipline and lunch.
    3. Blue Hole excursion
    4. Zipline excursion
    5. ATV excursion

Routes 1, 2 & 3 go from downtown Georgetown to anywhere along Seven Mile Beach. Just tell the driver where you want to be dropped off.  You might want to research somewhere that's near a hotel so that you will have access to facilities, food and drink.

When you get off the tender, ask any local where the bus terminal is. It's a block inland from the road that runs along the water. All the buses (vans) will be there and any driver can tell you which one is departing next. Ask your driver where the best place to stand is to catch a return bus.

We used these vans to visit Hell and the Turtle Farm. They're cheap but since you pay for each passenger, at some point a taxi could become a better deal (but probably not).

Thank you for the hotel idea.   Will they let us use the facilities if we eat at the hotel?

    Do we tip the drivers?

It's an easy walk from the cruise port and we paid in US dollars. I don't believe we did a round trip ticket but had no issues with the return trip.

Did you pay $3?  Just trying to make sure we bring enough for adults and children.

A word of warning: The times do not necessarily stay the same from cruise to cruise. They may vary due to season, region, demography of passengers and occupany rate.

I was just told this very same thing from the TA.  She said our sailing next month only has the 515pm, 730pm, 830PM

  5. Looking for advice from anyone who had actually taken the bus from cruise port to Seven Mile Beach.  We are a large family group.

    1. Easy to get to/from cruise port?  Any trouble getting a bus on the way back?
    2. Can we pay in USD?  $2.50 - will they take quarters?
    3. Do they sell roundtrip ticket?

    TIA!

Have taken our own snorkel gear and inflatable noodles many times. Don't know about paddleboards. How does that work, do you bring a foot pump?

Yes, there is a manual pump.  My niece and nephews asked me to bring it - they have no issue pumping it.

  7. Thank you everyone for the responses!  I just wanted to make sure they will not come and make us put away the paddleboards, floats, etc.  Last time we were at Ocean Cay, I brought the beach tent and were given looks.  Thought I check if anyone had experience in brining their own equipment.

All my cruises on MSC have been Fantastica balconies. However, prices are skyrocketing in Europe for the summer, and I may have to cut some corners. IF you have booked a Bella Balcony, I would very much like to hear your experience(s), good or bad.

If you do not care the free room service or the ability to pick your cabin location,  then you will be fine.  We booked a bella balcony and they upgraded our cabin location.   We are fine with a bella experience.

  9. Our cruise is next month. We are looking to see if we want to buy the dining package.  I know the meals for the dining package are from separate menus.  If anyone who is on the ship can post pictures of the dining experiences menus for the different specialty that is so very much appreciated.

    TIA!

Our experience yesterday is a perfect example why scheduling flight before noon May not be best idea.

Divina arrived MIA port 7am. Ship did not get clearance until 8:45.

Those doing walk off reported reported barely making 11:30 flight.

Terminal C has been an issue for MSC recently. Many not sure where to send passengers after checking out of ship. We were sent two different ways, with port employees fighting over who is sending people the wrong way.

Customs had 3 stations to clear an entire ship of passengers. One passenger passed out while waiting in line. We were in line for 1 1/2 hours.

Facial recognition not working. Agents did manual passport with taking photo process. I asked if Global Entry would help…no.

We were in YC so, did not have to wait in lines on the ship. Those waiting in lines just to check out of ship had it much worse.

She booked a 12:30pm flight, after 12 noon.  She may have a carry-on,  or just her purse.

So no global entry at cruise port???

MSC ships only dock at terminal C?  Our cruise will be on the new ship, Seascape.

Are you sure your arrival time in Miami is 8am??? All the itinerraries I see for various dates shows 6am arrival??!!  It seems extremely late unless they are factoring in a Coast Guard Inspection.

But this would be unusual for MSC since they are not the most organized when it comes to planning and communication!

I am used to 6am or 7am arrival as well.  I am glad I rechecked.

Next month...We have a 10:55 am flight out of FLL.... But we are on a RCL ship with 6am scheduled arrival and FLL is only 10 min away.. I believe its approx 20-25 min by cab from Miami pier to airport. Doable...YES ... However even if she gets off the ship with no issues...Then you begin worrying about Airport checkin delays.... Only she can answer her tolerance for risk.... But if she is going to worry the last few days of vacation. Why do it

I am used to ships arriving at 5 or 6am, so I originally thought 10:25AM is doable.  Luckily I went back to the booking and saw that it will arrive at 8am.

If passengers can begin self assist walk off at 8 then it’s doable. But our last flight out of MIA had a unusually long security line. Took nearly 45 minutes to get through. Couple that with transportation issues (potential) it’s cutting it very close for comfort. Saving $100 bucks for $1000 bucks worth of stress is a terrible way to end a vacay. JMO

I absolutely agree, and told her that before I posted this question..  Also , she is not even a frequent traveller - and will have to navigate MIA airport by herself..  BTW - I mistyped.  The airfare difference is almost $500.

8AM is the scheduled arrival time and then allow about a half hour for the ship to be cleared. I think you're cutting it too close. Other considerations: Does friend have TSA precheck? What day of the week is the disembarkation/flight? Is the carry-off baggage also carry-on baggage at the airport?

    Thank you @KINGBOBOFTHENORTH.

Forgot about the TSA Precheck - no she does not have this.

Sunday arrival in Feb (not spring break yet).

Yes the carry off baggage is the same as the carry on baggage.  There is a possiblity she will not have a luggage.

Most people would be comfortable booking a flight after noon.

Agree.  1025AM is nonstop and about $100 less.  Just thought I check on CC for advice for those who have done this, and if 8AM arrival means passengers may walk off with their luggage at that time.  Thanks!
