Generally speaking, if someone was considering taking a cruise for the first time what advise would you give them? What could you tell them from your experience to make their cruise experience better and go smoother?

I spoke to my credit card company (Chase) and they said the pin number is only used for cash advances. In the past I haven't had any problems using my chip and sign card.
-
Now I see how it works, interesting.

I read somewhere that on board the Koningsdam they had self serve beer and soda machines. Does anyone know if this is true and if so how does it work?

I know Europe is expensive so I am expecting high prices. Glad to know I can get by with just my credit card and will have to watch my spending. I usually set aside spending money and when that's gone its gone, this way I don't over spend (hopefully).

Thanks so much for the info, I really appreciate it.

I am trying to figure out how much money I will need in Norway. I can use my credit card for somethings but also want to take some cash with me but I have no idea what the prices are like there compared to the US. Does anybody have any suggestions?

Great to know because I can't have caffeine or high fructose corn syrup which is in regular coke. (it gives me migraines) This is great news for me!

We used Uber to go from the port to the Arizona and it worked great. Just keep in mind if it is a busy time when you are ready to return to port it may take you a while to get a ride so allow plenty of time on your return trip. It took us about 45 minutes for our Uber to arrive on the return trip, going was no problem.

Thanks so much

Do I need a transit visa in Stockholm if I am only changing planes? I will be traveling from Copenhagen and be heading home to the US.

I just came off the Hawaiian Journeys cruise and no one dressed up for the 80's throw back day. We barely even knew it was a throw back day. They played 80's themed trivia and had a hair chest contest by the pool. The cruise director wore a strange outfit that looked more like it was from the wizard of oz then the 80's and they served baked Alaska in the dining room. It was barely noticeable on our ship.

I checked outed the 101 things to do in Maui website, thanks for suggesting it. There are a lot of idea's there. Now we just have to decide on one. We have a long day there so we should have plenty of time which is nice.

Thanks for all the input. This is just the one stop I haven't planned anything for yet and wasn't sure what to do.

Does anyone know if it is possible to walk from the pier into Kahului? I don't have anything planned for this stop and was hoping to be able to walk into town and check it out.

Thanks, I will be waiting by my computer ready to get my tickets. This is the one place my son really wants to visit. He is a huge WW2 history fan.

Good to know, we will plan on requesting a pickup a couple of hours early. thanks

I am looking to visit Pearl Harbor, I understand you can reserve your entrance time ahead of time. I was thinking of taking an Uber from the cruise terminal over to Pearl Harbor, does anyone have an idea of how long it would take to get over there?

While unpacking our cloths and putting them in the closet I found a pair of bloody underware on the shelf . Nasty!

on our antartica cruise, the newbies (although same rudeness was also shown by multi-cruisers) tended to hog tables in the buffet area so they could spend hours sitting and watching the beautiful scenery; don't hog lounges by the pool by leaving a towel or personal item on it and then disappearing for hours; don't save seats in the theatre for shows; don't sit at a table for 8 or 10 and never say a word to your tablemates.
LOL-- just follow normal courtesies and you'll be fine. Have a wonderful trip.;)
I so agree with speaking to your tablemates. Even if your not a social butterfly at least say "Hello." Its so awkward if you don't not to mention kind of rude.
What advise would you give to first time cruiser?
