Yikes!  😲 If you want to feel even more envious, check out the Prima Studio Cabins on YouTube ... They have amazing storage space, lots of shelves and real drawers, and two hanging closets.  I would have had more room had I sailed solo in the Studio!

I would not book Prima again or Viva unless the prices come down and are similar to the other ships.  Not worth any premium.  And definitely not a cold water ship.  The 2023 itinerary to Iceland and points North is not going to be good.

Agreed Tom.  I am glad I did the Prima transatlantic cruise, but I definitely wouldn't book again. Other than the specialty restaurants and The Local, I thought the quality of food was very poor. The balcony cabin I had was roomier, but there wasn't a dresser or any drawers for clothes, except the tiny drawers in the 1 nightstand. And everyone is right about it being a warm weather ship; I never got to tour the outside of the ship... either too cold, too rainy, or both! Every time i went to the slides "Sorry, closed today due to weather!"  And those tiny pools!  The venues were entirely too small for a ship holding 3000+; Bingo in a room with a 75 person capacity??  There was much to like about the ship as well (Hudsons is beautiful, the colors around the ship, Indulge is innovative, the open atrium, a bar every 50 feet, a great open-feel), and service was excellent.   I'll stick with the Bliss and that class of ship.  Guess I can skip NCL's next few years of new ships if they're all like Prima! 😃

FYI: I've been on several sailings this year (Escape, Joy, Breakaway) and all of them did have the Latitudes gathering.

Very glad it worked out for you!  I sailed the Escape in 2020 and loved the ship! The Joy is one of my upcoming cruises next year.  🛳️

My two, Norwegian Bliss (January) and Norwegian Sun (May) were a no on just about everything Latitudes... no ship tour, no Latitudes gathering, no officers' meal.... but did get the usual meal vouchers and laundry bag.  😊  I did not personally ask, but I know another Latitudes member I met at dinner did ask about possible OBC and she was told "you are getting an extra point per cruise night to make up for the changes" (she nor I bought that reasoning since it was a booking incentive from NCL and had nothing to do with Latitudes).

I am on the new Prima's first transatlantic crossing in 2 months; hopefully all worked out by then.  🍹

  4. Unfortunately, for this Saphire Latitudes guy who was on two NCL sailings this year (and ready for another in 70 days), it has become very noticeable that NCL is "concerned for our safety" and canceled complimentary events, but apparently has no such "concern" for larger events when there is a buck to be made.  No Cruise Critic Meet & Greet due to "concern".....PACKED body-to-body Comedy Club.  No small group ship tour, but no problem crowding the people in any open seat on a bus excursion tour.  No Latitudes gathering, but no problem loading them into the packed "Glow Party" in the bar.   Sorry NCL; I love sailing on your ships but these "concerns" just truly come across an ingenuous!  🙄

Have been on Norwegian once and you could not pay me to take another one - Love Princess - they are the best.

Funny.... I was on one Princess and not interested in another!  Love NCL; they have exactly what I'm looking for in a cruise vacation.

  6. I heard back from NCL today.....two days after I mailed certificates from LA to Miami. Wow! They have already received my certificates and applied them to move me from a KK to a JJ category. Now, I sent in 3 upgrade certificates, but only was upgraded two categories (KK to J; J to JJ). Not sure if I am even going to bother calling to see why I didnt go up one more; I look on it all as a gift horse anyway, and I don't want to be looking to close into its mouth!

  7. I had always assumed it was "one coupon/certificate per cruise"...but based on what I have seen here on this thread, that's obviously not the case. So even though I already received my $500 credit, today I sent in my remaining three "1 category upgrade" certificates.

What the heck....it can't hurt and would be nice to bump up a couple of decks! :D

  8. I didn't realize you could get a return receipt from a PO box. I thought someone had to sign for it??

Yep Cruisin....you can get a Return Receipt! It is Post Office stamped with date of delivery and signed, showing it was received by "NCL". :D

  9. In May I sent my $500 Compass Reward certificate to the PO Box listed on the back of the certificate. I sent it Certified/Return Receipt. (Of course, I photocopied the certificate before I mailed it) I think the total cost was about $5.50

I mailed it on a Tuesday....but Wednesday of the following week I received an email from my Trav Agnt letting me know that NCL had applied the $500 credit to my remaining balance.

  10. Here has been my experience with the balance showing on "My NCL" page.....if I booked the trip directly through NCL (or my "personal NCL consultant"), I could track my balance on that page. On cruises where I booked through a travel agent, my balance never showed and always refered me back to my agent.

One more thing, and I know this is a generalization....when I have booked directly through NCL, I have blessed more times than not with a call from the NCL Upgrade Fairy. The ONLY time I have ever received an upgrade offer call when I booked through a travel agent was when the price of the cruise had decreased since I made my final payment, and NCL offered to move me from an inside to outside cabin.

Has this been anyone else's experience when they booked directly through NCL vs. Travel Agent?

  11. I mailed in my $500 certificate on Tuesday of last week (certified/return receipt) and just got an email from my trav agnt that she received confirmation from NCL this morning that the money has been credited to my deposit....so getting this all done in just about one week isn't bad at all! :D

Thanks everyone for your advice! Happy cruising!

  12. I am sure that somewhere, in the 130 pages of this posting, this has been answered, but a cursory look over a few of them didn't find it.....

I know I should send in my $500 certificate before final payment AND I should photocopy before sending AND I should send return receipt requested.

Any preference if I should send it to the PO Box address on back of certificate, or to NCL offices via street address? Good experiences/Bad experiences?

    Thanks!

  13. My certificates arrived today. I ended Dec. with about 750 in points. I received one $500 certificate and three upgrade (100 pts) certificates, so no problems for me.

Looking forward to using the $500 discount this fall....combine that with my Platinum NCL Latitudes level and, all in all, should be a pretty nice cruise! ;)

  14. As I posted several pages back, I am wondering why so many people were expecting their certificates now? All I can assume is that BofA is doing this is cycles? My Bank of America/NCL letter, dated 1/5/09, says "You will receive your final Compass Reward certificates by mail in 6-8 weeks."

By my calc, that means I shouldn't expect them until early March.....so why are so many people on here expecting them earlier than that?

  15. Looks like the BofA letter I got is a little different in terms of certificate arrival expectations. My letter, dated 1/5/09, says that my final Compass Reward certificates will be mailed in 6-8 weeks....so honestly I wasn't even expecting them until early March. :D

I guess some of you got letters saying they were coming in late January? Regardless, most of these posts have been very informative....thanks!
