  1. Just be careful with that. If someone hits a hand-pay jackpot, casino people will pull out the player's card and if that is NOT the person playing the machine, they can refuse to pay. It happens in land based casinos all the time.

  2. I think "snacks" are where NCL is very lacking. My friend and I, who had only previously cruised on Princess, took our first Norwegian cruise last November. After returning from port excursions, we usually (on Princess) went to the Horizon Court and brought back a variety of cheese, salami, herring, fruit, crackers, guacamole and tortilla chips etc. to eat on our balcony.

We were very disappointed to see that the Jewel only offered Saltines as the cracker to go with the most "mundane" cheese selection. On Princess, there was quite a selection from garlic cheese spread, port wine, blue cheese, pepper, Swiss, etc. cheeses. On NCL, there were 8 or 10 thin slices of yellow or white cheese on a display. If I took 4 of those slices, the person behind the counter replaced those 4 pieces of cheese so that there was the same 10 thin slices available to the next person....almost as if they were rationing the cheese.

We asked if there were any other types of crackers or snacks and were told "NO".

  3. I had just the opposite experience today with CAS. I have an aft mini booked on the jewel. I wanted to move more toward the center of the ship, deck 11 mini(a downgrade from M1 to MA).....and found out my aft balcony, which sells for more, is cheaper to keep than to downgrade to a mid ship mini. Guy told me that I can't just move down in category and I have to pay today's going rate for the mid ship mini, which is $50 more than the aft I booked 5 months ago. Go figure.

  4. Does anyone remember the name of the restaurant on Dr.'s Cave Beach?

I am specifically looking for a place called Lobster Shack or Dave's Lobster Shack or something like that.

Also, how much is the beach chair and umbrella rental there? Does the restaurant serve drinks out on the beach?

  5. When I picked up my certificate at Harrah's, they gave me a booklet entitled, "Casinos at Sea - You're Going Places". On the back page, it lists what is included in the comp cruise. Among the list, which includes, free drinks while playing in the casino; Onboard comps based on play; Full Service VIP Casino Host desk; and The latest slot machines, etc.

The final item on the list states: Liberal gaming limits, generous credit lines and VIP gaming areas.

Does anyone know what it means by "VIP GAMING AREAS?"

  6. I received a cruise offer earlier this year from the Harrah's where I play about once a month.....and I was just Gold!

Then, about 2 months later, I received a second cruise offer from a Harrah's casino I had played in only one time (for about 3 hours) in the past 3 years.

Can't figure out the system. Doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to who get the invite, as a friend of mine has been Platinum for the past two years and has never received an invitation.
