  1. Hi,

We're going on a cruise in Feb./2015 and I have a question...I have always wanted to do a wave runner/jet ski excursion...but here is my problem. I am quite a large woman (around 200 lbs....shhh don't tell anyone that) and not physically fit. I am worried about my ability to get back on a jet ski if I get off it...on purpose or by accident...out in the water...how hard is it really (don't answer if you are a fit person...my husband would have no problems I'm certain)...just not sure if I would be able to haul my fat *** up onto it. What happens if I can't get back on?? I'd love to do this but I'm scared of this scenario (I am a great swimmer...so not scared that I would have to swim back but don't want to be embarrassed or stop an entire tour because I can't get back on.) Honest answers are appreciated. Thanks

  3. We are going to be in the door decorating contest...but I hope no one comes to look at our door that first day...because priority number 1, for us, will be finding a good, comfortable place to watch the game from.

Neither of our teams are in it...but that is better, in my opinion, because it won't be so stressful and we can just enjoy it. For us, getting to watch the game on the big screen with a whole bunch of people is as close to the superbowl as we will ever get. Being in Canada it's hard to find many people who watch the NFL and would like to even get together for a superbowl party.

It's not the reason for the cruise but it's a big bonus in our world!!

Now I just have to pick a team to cheer for (I like them both...leaning towards the Seahawks just because I got to see them play in person and long ago they had a quarter back who started in my hometown as a quarter back)

At this particular moment, however, I'm so excited because at 7:30 am we leave for the airport tomorrow...so only one more sleep.

I'm also nervous as heck because I need to spend the day trying to get everything we've put out "to go" into our suitcases...can you say "over packing"??? I think it might be tattooed on my head LOL!!!

Although there is this video on youtube about packing and I'm going to try his technique (although we will have a LOT more than a carry on...that's just the same as science fiction to me)

Check it out...if nothing else it's interesting (although a little "dry" but it's not long)

Added us to the pre-cruise dinner...getting sooooo close now...3 more sleeps for us!! The weather here had been weirdly warm for a couple of weeks now...today decided to remind us of where we live and what it's supposed to feel like!!! Brrrrrr....although no snow so that's a bonus...can't wait to NOT wear a winter coat!

  5. "Whether we make the official list or not...we plan to come (or crash) the pre-cruise dinner...but I tried to google the name of the restaurant and failed..is there more to the name??? (I'm not too technical so it might be the user that is the problem)"

    Here is link:

    http://www.millersalehouse.com/location/hollywood-ale-house

Thanks so much...now I know we can crash the party!!!;)

  6. Well...here is our update...first...9 days until we leave!!! (8 sleeps...we fly out on the 30th)...so excited:D:D:D

I had a really bad infection in my face...whole right side swollen...looked like Quasimodo!! Lots of sleep and antibiotics and my eye is finally open, swelling is mostly gone...now just looks like road rash on the right side...I see a facial in my future!!

John had a terrible cold...still has some of it...but made him stay home from work for 2 days after his weekend and filled him full of every cold drug I could find. I insist that he is fully recovered before the cruise and I hope this is one time when "insisting" he does something actually works!!

I haven't packed a thing...but laundry is done so hopefully it won't take too long when I get at it.

Whether we make the official list or not...we plan to come (or crash) the pre-cruise dinner...but I tried to google the name of the restaurant and failed..is there more to the name??? (I'm not too technical so it might be the user that is the problem)

I did get out yesterday and bought gifts for the gift exchange (they aren't packed yet...but they will get in there somehow).

    Booked transportation from the airport....

    Making lists....

Going to make some headway today!!

So excited to meet everyone we don't know and get re-aquainted with everyone we met on the Hawaii cruise!!

I'm so excited...and I just can't hide it....I'm about to lose control and I think I like it!!!

(ok...dating myself I guess...too excited to care! LOL)

  7. Tracey and John FEEL BETTER SOON !!!!! You must get your strength back for this nice 3 week vacation you are planning !!;)

You know that you two are ALWAYS welcome to join us on excursions. We are trying to keep trip on the less expensive side since we know the expense we are faced with in July

What about pre cruise dinner ? Did you tell me already and I forgot ot add you ???

Thanks...we're working on getting better...the antibiotics are helping me...slowly but surely...better to get this out of the way before the cruise!! (although not having it at all would have been a better option!!!)

Yes...we'd like to join you all for the pre-cruise dinner...figured if we didn't make the list we'd just crash the party lol!!!

    Ok...back to bed...

I figure when I finally get over this I'll be really excited because we will be that much closer to cruise date...although a little panicked because I will be that much further behind on packing...oh well...we're flying in early...maybe a shopping trip in Ft. Lauderdale to buy everything we forget!! (although that won't help the budget to get us to Alaska!!)

  8. So...oh joy...both of us sick with "something"...flu/cold something...oh well...best to get that over with now and not on the cruise!! (going to the doctors tomorrow "just in case")

Getting excited (when I'm awake and coherent lol)

Can you please add John and I to the first pre-cruise dinner (we promise to stay in our rooms if we're still sick...but we both REFUSE to still be sick).

What are people doing in Tortolla, St. Thomas and Nassau...still no plans for those stops...maybe we'll just throw caution to the wind, get off the ship and see what presents itself in those ports???? I've read a lot of posts about people who just do that...we never have...but maybe it's time for something new??

Off to get some juice and back to bed:(

If people are interested in signing up for excursions or joining in activities now is the time to get our plans made and reserved.

Planning to do the steakhouse with us ??? Please write confirmed next to your name or add it and confirm. I will be sending in steakhouse reservations IN THE NEXT TWO WEEKS !!

I added us to the list in places...hope this is how I was supposed to do it.

  10. Pfff that's nothing! It's -41C with the windchill right now here!

Looking at cost friendly options for excursions right now and looking at pictures of the ports makes me forget that I will probably get frostbite leaving work in a few hours!

ok...you win the cold contest...and I don't want to try to beat you!!!! Yikes that is a tad chilly...stay inside...I want to meet you with all your fingers, toes and ears still attached!!!;) (where the heck are you??? I don't want to visit your piece of the world in the winter...heck...I don't even want to be in my piece of the world in winter...not often we ever get that cold)

  11. Ok...a couple of questions:

    1. we're staying at the hotel with everyone...but coming in on the 30th. Are we having a pre-cruise dinner?? If so what time and where??

    2. Are we doing a door decorating contest for one or both legs of the cruise?? (although we didn't win...we....ok...I liked that last time)

    3. Is it time to pack yet????

    It's very cold here...I want to be someplace warm!!!!!! (-19C...which is -2F....-28C with windchill.... - 18F and snowing...oh joy!!)

  12. Well we spent quite a bit of time on the weekend working on excursions...a lot of stops on this B2B!!

I think we have most things worked out...when working on Tortola we came across a site for a kayak, snorkeling tour that sounded interesting (John would love to kayak...I'm willing to let him do most of the paddling ;)) Anyway...I sent them an email to see if they would have space on our date, if it would work with the time we have in port and what it would cost. It sounds like, at the moment, they have no tour going on that day but would be happy to do one for us. They said the cost of running the tour is $240.00...but if there were more people the cost would go down (be split)...so just wondering if anyone else would like to do this tour? The website is: http://www.tortolakayaktours.com/ (hope I don't get my hands slapped for posting that)...it sounds like they would work with us to work around our time in port. Let me know if you are interested...email me at tgt1_1@hotmail.com...thanks Tracey :)

  13. Just my opinion...but waiting in line for a tender ship to take me to an island or bring me back to a cruise ship from a day on an island is better...much much better than sitting at home on my couch...especially in the winter.

I think people who have big problems with tenders vacation different than we do...we think of a vacation as a time to relax and "go with the flow"...we aren't worried about spending 1/2 hour...or an hour waiting in a line...some people like to go top speed on a vacation and cram in as much as possible or always be the first in line...guess it depends on what type of travelers you are...for us tendering is simply part of the experience.

I'm not criticizing others...just saying you have to be honest with yourself about who you are..if you get impatient waiting in lines...save yourself the aggravation of a tender and stay on the ship...your vacation will be better for you. (no offense...but it will also save us from standing in line and needing to listen to people complain about standing in line....listening to people is the only problem we have ever had with tendering...and that was just a one time experience itself...the rest of the times those around us were patient and we often had fun just chatting with people):)

  14. Sitting here....christmas is over and I have to say...yeah...that was one of my "markers" to getting closer to the cruise.

We've booked our flights, our pre-cruise hotel...we're going to stay an extra week after the cruise and do some sightseeing...that's all booked...but we don't have a single excursion booked yet!!! Yikes!!! Just can't seem to make up our minds.

We know we want to go snorkeling...but can't figure out where the best snorkeling might be....other than that...we know we want a beach day...again trying to decide on which port to do that in....hmmm...love the back to back because it is going to give us a nice long cruise...but a lot of ports to think about!!

Is there going to be a door decorating contest on each leg of the cruise?? Just wondering as my mind started to wander there last night.

Nervous about the upcoming weekend of football...but I have confidence in my Bears...go Bears!!

  15. For once, in Regina we can't really complain. We just started really getting our snow now. My brother-in-law in Edmonton just got back from a cruise on the Breeze last weekend. He left the day after the first big snowfall, so he picked the perfect time.

I'm just hoping when we leave it's gets to -50 outside for about 16 days! ;)

We have had a LOT here...and cold...brrrr...tomorrow is supposed to get a little nicer...but then we will have the joy of freezing rain on top of all the snow that hasn't yet been removed by the city...can you say "giant skating rink"?? Then when we've had enough of that to make a nice, thick sheet of ice we're going back into the deep freeze and throw some more snow on it. I think I'm going to stay inside until it's time to call a cab to take us to the airport to leave for Florida!!! (I wish). Our house is on a corner lot...so that's a lot of snow to shovel...so I'm ok with it being really cold when we're gone...but I don't want them to get snow because we have to pay someone to shovel it for us or get a fine from the city...so cold yes..snow no. (But boy will I be mad if we get a Chinook while we're gone!!)

  16. Can't believe it's finally getting close enough to seem real!!!

Today we finally booked our flights...the hotel has been booked for awhile...now we are looking at excursions and getting excited!!!

We will volunteer to be a host room for the Poker Crawl - unfortunately no aft or forward wrap room for us...just a regular room.

Can't wait, can't wait, can't wait...I WANT A BEACH DAY...I've had more than enough of SNOW!!!!

  17. We're flying into Ft. Lauderdale a couple of days prior to our cruise (flying in January 30th, 2014) and want to do an Everglades boat tour...there are so many to choose from...wondering if anyone has suggestions of who to book with or who not too book with. Also wondering about getting to the boat tour...will have to rent a car or do some pick up at hotels??
