  1. In most of the ports the ferry uses a totally different pier than the cruise ships. Should be no impact unless people are taking ferry to AK and then say cruising from Whittier south. Which would seem really odd. Only the residents will be effected by this strike 😞 We will be filling the effects very soon I'm sure.

  2. I say go. I just went on a cruise Jan 17th after a tendon repair in my ankle on Dec. 31. I bought a wheelchair and it was great. I didn't get to do the excursions I wanted. Not because Dr. said no but because the excursion people said no last minute. I had way more fun hobbling around on the ship than I would have here at home.

There is  no one road that does an "entire loop around island".  Several highways would be involved in getting from one end of the island to the other.  Can you be a bit more specific on where you want to go?

Sorry I was talking more about the road to Hana and beyond the most. We are hoping to have it for both days on the POA.
    Thanks

Our vote would be for Maui on a motorcycle.  There are lots of good roads that are easy to navigate and offer great scenery that can be enjoyed even more close up on a motorcycle than in a car.

Hi Silver Sweethearts would you say a motorcycle is doable the entire loop around island or no? Turning around at the end of better pavement?

  5. Just curious which islands are best to rent a motorcycle or scooter on. We have been to Kauai and seen most of it so may or may not want one here. Oahu is out. So we have Kona and Hilo on the Big Island and Maui. We are on the POA in early Aug. Husband has been riding bikes for over 20 years so no issues there. We are 40s and mostly healthy.
If you had to make the choice between car and bike which would you pick and why?
    Thanks.

  6. OK So I have searched and not finding the answer. If I prepurchase a photo package, would I still get my latitudes discount? Or is that only if we buy the photos onboard? Which is the better deal? Do they have better packages offered onboard?
    Thanks.

  7. Thank you both for your replies. I just wound up using my normal Alaska Air card and getting the regular miles for it. We fly way more than we cruise (we live on an island) so it is all ok I guess lol.

The original TA must have been out sick and the other one didn't know the answer. Go figure haha

  8. Skylork

If we wanted to see some sights and Snorkel what tours would you suggest? I know you said Galleon (sp) for snorkeling. Or would we be better off renting a car? If renting how much do they run and how far are they from port?

    Thanks :)

  9. OK have been reading the sticky thread and I am now wondering if my charge would actually be a NCL charge? I am booking through USAA if they call me back. So would that be a USAA Charge or a NCL Charge?

And I am confused on the max per month we can earn point wise. Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

  10. Thanks for the info. Apparently my job can't afford for me to take time off in Jan :(. But I will keep it in mind.

    Appreciate all of the info.

And for the record it isn't nearly as wet in Sitka as people make out like it is lol. It seems to be more like a heavy fog more so than rain. It rarely rains here like we were used to in the south lol.
