  1. I am thinking about doing 5 days pre cruise in Alaska prior to our cruise.  Just looking for pros and cons of doing it through the cruiseline vs through a tour company.  There will be at least 10 of us, so we are not looking to rent cars and do it on our own.  Thanks in advance 😁

  2. For those that have used Mad Max - my wife and I will be on St Kitts in January. I am 6'6" tall and weigh 325 labs...will I fit in a dune buggy???

Maximum weight is 440 lbs total per buggy, not sure about how comfy it may be though as you are very tall

  3. Hi. I have questions because I'm reading conflicting info between this site, their site, and trip advisor! Some are saying it was a 6 hour tour but others are saying it is 3 hours and that there is a morning and an afternoon tour. Can anyone clarify? Also, do you have to purchase a license to drive there? I saw on another site someone said they had to pay $25 for a license. Lastly, do they let the driver and passenger switch so they can each drive at some point?

I recently emailed this company & here are a few responses that may help:

    1. Tour lasts between 3 & 4 hours including pick up and drop off

    2. I believe there is both morning & afternoon trips

    3. You must send in your DL info at least 7 days prior of tour date and they get you a temporary DL. The $25 fee is if you want more than one driver per buggy ( they each hold 2 people)

    Hope that helps

  4. Thanks all.....we do not have a Guarantee room and no where do I have “download edocs” listed (my DD’s is right on the first page when you log on to myNCL). I have plenty of time, so I will not panic yet ;).

  5. We are paid in full & online check in is complete for our November cruise, but I’m a bit confused with the edocs. My daughter’s edocs are ready to print yet mine are not. What determines when the edocs are put out on MyNCL?? Thanks

  6. We decorate our door on every ship. We found some adorable door banners on etsy. They hang on a metal hook or command hook and can be customized for our cruise or special occasion. I hang them in my office after the cruise for a reminder to book another one.

Just search "ship door decoration" after you go to etsy.

Thanks. I'm going to look 😀

  7. You can make your own way either by foot or cab to Carlisle Bay where a few different resorts/companies are set up including Harbour Lights and the Dockyard. There will be people selling packages offering a lounge chair, shared umbrella and the opportunity to go out and see the same turtles that the catamarans take you to. The Dockyard offers a drink and access to some water activities with their package as well as a cab ride back to the port. Harbour lights gets you a chair, shared umbrella and a trip to the turtles.

Alternatively, try contacting the catamaran companies and they may have a later boat you could take, seeing as many people on your ship would be facing the same time parameters.

    Thank you!!

  8. Our cruise ship arrives at 11AM & departs at 7 PM...It seems all catamaran trips leave by 9:30 AM, so I'm looking for suggestions on what we could do beginning at noon time to snorkel and see turtles....TIA

  9. We purchased the spa package recently on a cruise out of NY for the first time on the Gem. We purchased it online ahead of time for $139. Totally worth it for this cruise. We normally go on Caribbean cruises where we get sit out by the pool. Too cold on this cruise for that. We went to the spa daily (usually a couple times a day). It was never crowded. The price if you bought it on the cruise was $186 and included a scrub mixture that ours did not. They offered us the scrub for an additional $27 but wasn't worth it in my opinion. Would get this again for any "cold" weather cruises.

Hi...I'm new to NCL what actually is included in this "Thermal Spa" pass?? Thanks

  10. You'll get good and bad reviews on each one. Overall though, they are all pretty good. Chances are you will enjoy any one you go to. Take a look through the menus that you can find online and in reviews on this forum and see what strikes your fancy. (menus are the same fleet wide).

    Thanks :)

  11. Best is very subjective...... some love Cagney's but would be awful for vegetarians..... Teppanyaki is fantastic but maybe you hate eating with strangers..... They all are the "best" to someone.

Thanks.....there are 12 of us, so teppanyaki would be fun (we do it at home restaurants with strangers) 😉

  12. My guess would be an older demographic

Families with kids say ages 10 and up won't be there as it's really a lot of school time to miss

Families with kids 10 and under won't be there because those are youngish families that probably have thanksgiving traditions if they have family nearby or if not would probably prefer to travel home for thanksgiving versus a cruise

    College kids...nope

Parents of college kids..nope...because the kids will be coming home for perhaps the first time since august

Couples...older... with family that live far away that won't be seeing them for thanksgiving..yup

    Singles with no family nearby...yup

Canadians that celebrate thanksgiving in October anyway...yup yup yup

This cruise is on the longer side plus it covers thanksgiving so that is what will determine the demographics

If I had no commitment to family...if I had a job that allowed me to take the time off...or was retired...and had no reason to want or need to be home for thanksgiving I'd book this cruise

For me though I wouldn't miss thanksgiving at home

I'm also thinking lots of solos on this cruise too and couples with no kids and no immediate family nearby

Sent from my iPad using Forums

I’m booked on the cruise immediately following this one & hope you’re answers hold true for mine too 😉
