  1. You are right, I do live in Oregon and I already have most of the above mentioed clothes. I don't look that great in jeans so maybe cords. Shoes and tops are easy as are vests and jackets, but pants, always an issue.

I wouldn't wear jeans on the ship so maybe pants that I can wear on or off the ship.

Probably just be ready to be flexable when packing as we watch the weather reports.

I have never had a desire to travel to Alaska becaus I live in rain and I always look forward to going to a tropical destination to warm up but, the time has come to see the glaciers before they totally disapear.

Thank you for all tegreat ideas.

  2. We were there in April and they had cancelled the ship sponsored zipline excursions. We heard about 4 different stories as to what was happening and no one was to forth coming. We did hear after our return that a tourist had been murdered in the Marina district and that was a robbery gone bad.

We had booked an independent zipline and I called to cancel and see if we could recoup some of our money but of course she denied any problems and so no refund.

We went in to town instead and walked the Malecon and didn't feel anything out of the usual but apparently we were just oblivious tourists.

I feel bad for all the wonderful people who live and work in PV, they count on the tourists for their livelihood. I hope they get the problem under control.

  3. While in PV the second week of April a tourist from Colorado was shot and killed in the Marina zone. They were taking money from and ATM and a recently escaped prisoner tried to rob them. Their college age son tried to fight him off and was shot and killed. We were told that the zipline tours were being cancelled because of some problems in the jungle as well.

  4. I just saw on Good Morning American that 3 cruise lines were avoiding Puerto Vallarta because of increased violence. When we were there a month ago several excursions were cancelled because of a shooting. This makes me very said as PV is my favorite stop.

I hope they can get it together.

That is all I know and just heard a short blurb, not sure which lines this includes. Has anyone heard anything more on this ?

  5. Saffir, sorry we never bumped in to each other, or maybe we did. What a great cruise huh ? I thought it was a great mix of passengers. I hope your fellow diners were pleasant. Did you see the bride and groom up at Skywalkers ? That was my daughter.

I can't wait to read the rest of your review.

  6. We were late traditional dining in the Michelangelo, deck 6

One thing I for got to mention was that because of a shooting in Puerto Vallarta the zipline tours through the ship were cancelled.

When we were in Cabo one of the vendors said something about all the recent shootings in PV. We could only find out about one and it was actually in the marina district.

PV better watch out or the will be off the itinerary, but I guess they have a year to figure it out.

  7. This is such a great way to get married, everything was taken care of and it was all so beautiful. The Captain is such a nice , nice guy.

One problem when the married couple got back. Changing her name with Social Security. Since it is a Burmuda wedding licence. Social security is not sure what to do with it lol

  8. We just returned from my daughter's wedding cruise and let me say, getting married on board is the way to tie the knot.

The Crown, our first ship with the International café and we chose the plaza deck so we just walked out of our cabin and there we were. What a cool place to hang out.

Let me start at the beginning....

We were on an early flight and used the Princess transfer from Lax. There was no problem finding the Princess reps, they were everywhere. They escorted us to the bus but because it was too early to head to the dock they dropped us off at the Sheridan where we pre-registered. They fed us a continental buffet and after a couple of hours we were off to the port. This was a very efficient way to pre-register. We were in a different line because we just needed to pick up our cruise cards. 10 minutes after arriving at the port, we were in our cabin.

Like I said, we decided to try the Plaza deck and it was really a fine location. We were in P328. Sometimes I could hear the mariachis and they were in the Piazza quite often. Next time I would go farther up the hall.

The Piazza was often really crowded and that made it sometimes hard to move from our cabin up the stairs.

The best part of this location is that you are in the middle of everything and up one deck was everything else, dining room, theater etc.

This ship felt crowded at times. One night on deck 6 or 7 , the dining room was letting out as was the theater and they had all the tables set up with the jewelry and gold chains and everyone was being channeled into the same small space.

The ship goes in to drydock in 2 weeks but the entire time they were changing out carpet during the night so in the morning everything was fresh.

There was a small Noro outbreak so everything was being served, which I prefer anyway.

Remember the days of deck parties with food and drinks sold in light up glasses. those days are gone, still fun but less than it used to be.

    To wrap up....

The staff was wonderful. They best that we have ever had. The ship was clean. The captain, he was out and about greeting people all the time. I loved the two cruise directors, The house band was fabulous and they did have a lot of live music.

The food.. average, however and this is huge, my one daughter is Vegan and the headwater created amazing 4 course meals for her every night. Thank you Christain!!!!

We had a fabulous time and a beautiful wedding.

  9. If we board Sat. is the first formal night on Sunday or Monday? I am hoping Sunday. We are having a wedding Sunday afternoon and it would be nice to wear all the wedding clothes to dinner. I know we could put it all back on for Monday if that is the night.

I just have totally forgotten which night it will be.

  10. My daughter is on a vegan diet and she drinks a lot of her protein in a shake. she is trying to figure out how to still be able to get them on the ship. She is new to cruising and thought she could bring her hand mixer. I know, I told you she was new.

    Does the spa make beverages?

Is there somewhere with her ingredients that they can make her a protein shake ?

She is looking for a non electrical shaker if that is what it comes down to.

Has anyone had any experience with this ?

I appreciate the insight as I am not a vegan and have never had this question before.

    Thanks, Kris

  11. I would suggest asking Sunseekers if they can accomodate your luggage while you are on the tour with them. Number is 562-331-1230.

I am sure they have had other customers with the same problem.

Ken of Sunseekers is actually sending us an extra van for the luggage, he is really helpful. I can't wait to go on his tour, it sounds great.
