  1. Just got back from a 2 week Canal cruise that originated in San Juan. We stayed 1 night precruise at the Marriott Stellaris as we did last year. Wow!

Even tho the reservation was acquired thru Priceline for $110 because I'm in the Marriott Rewards program the concierge contacted us prestay and asked for special requests (robes, slippers, down pillows, qt of Johnny Walker (kidding about the JW)).

I requested an ocean view & they appologetically said no, but when we got into the room it was an ocean view. They placed us on the executive floor, 1 below the penthouse. The room key gained us complimentary (free) access to the executive lounge on the roof. In the morn it was deluxe breakfast buffet and a 360 degree view of the beach & San Juan and inside or al fresco dining. What a deal!

  2. Wow toonjie! $40 per person at the Marriot for the day??? Do you have to arrange this ahead of time? That would be great! Do you know if kids are the same price?

Kabux- Depending upon the room price at the Marriott for when you're going it might be less expensive to get a room then $40 pp for day use. Our room with fees was $135. 2 adult & 2 kids= 4 x$40=$160 for daypasses.

  3. We stayed at the Marriott Stellaris 1 night pre cruise on Priceline last April & we're there again on Fri night. It was a gorgeous property & room last yr, but it's gotten even better. They had the concierge email us and inquire if we might have any special requests, like feather pillows, slippers, restaurant resv, Johnny Walker (I was kidding about the Johnny Walker). but i'm extremely impressed that they are going this extra step when we got a $110 rate thru Priceline. It makes us feel spoiled rather then cheapos. I don't know if it's because I'm in the Marriott Rewards Program, but it sure is nice.

Is the new Rennaissance on Priceline?

  4. When you book thru priceline or others....

can you still put your membership # for the hotel and get points?

Definitely NOT for Marriott or Embassy Suites. I've tried a couple of times & no go. I suspect not for others.

    Don't know about air.

In fact, when you book thru Priceline if it's Marriott you lose the preferences in your Marriott account "profile". You can call the hotel directly after booking and request a type of room or bed BUT because it was Pricline they will be less receptive and won't guarantee.

  5. Polodad, How early did you book for 4/18/08? I am having problems getting anything for that date. What did you bid for when you got the Marriott? I would love to get that for the price you received.

In answer to your question we were on a cruise out of SJ that returned 5/6/07 and on that cruise we booked another cruise for 08. I'm thinking it was June or July, 07 that I booked for 4/18/08 at the Marriott & it was $110 before fees. that was about $20-25 less then when I booked for 4/07. It is a really nice hotel for the money on Priceline.

  6. We sailed out of SJ last April & again April, 2008. I did an extensive search for hotel rooms for April 2007 and found all the prices in March & April 2007 and apparently again in 2008 are expensive, probably because of spring breaks. We booked early via Priceline & got into the Marriott Stellaris for $110 plus fees to net $135 for 4/18/2008. That is a $20 less then 2007.

  7. Ok, question for y'all bidding experts: How do you bid on the exact Resort you want? I'm obviously new to priceline, but it only lets me bid on "groups." Since we want only the Marriot Stellaris, if I bid I may be stuck with one of the other two. Is that correct? TIA, Russell

I didn't realize there were 2 other options under resort level in Condado. both times I've used Priceline in SJ I've received the Marriott. I know that i could have received the Hilton instead. In my mind hotels are overpriced in SJ, period. Therefore, for the price that I'm bidding for a resort in Condado I'd be happy with any resort. You may want to try Hotwire or perhaps the new Renaissance near the marriott in SJ will soon become available. You are corect though, in Priceline you can't guarantee you will get the Stellaris.

  8. 4/17-4/19/2008

Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $185.00

    Subtotal: $370.00

    Taxes & Service Fees: $78.43

    Total Charges*: $448.43

Wow, Bobbie. A clear demonstration of supply & demand theory. We booked the SJ Marriott for 4/18/08 one night precruise back in June at the same rate $110 before fees that you booked for post cruise. It must be getting full then. Since we're there the same night maybe we'll see you.

    Cheers.

  10. Anyone have a link to a good source to find out which SanJuan hotels have free airport pickup/drop off???????????????

Hi Rich. Your problem is solved. the magnificent Best Western San Juan Airport Hotel is just yards away from the American Airlines counter.

Personally, we prefer to pop for $14 for a cab since we're on vacation & stay at the Marriott at the beach & a great deal on Priceline, but each to his own.

Congrats on a great year for the Rockies!

  11. I just bid last week for April 26th 2008, bid resort + San Juan and got the Marriott Stellaris & casino for 110.00 1 night precruise.

Beach girl. Does the $110 include all fees & taxes?

We're looking for 4/18/2008. When I booked for 5/5/2007 my accepted bid was $125 but ballooned to $156 after taxes, resort fees, etc. Just want to compare apples & apples. Thanks.
