  1. Now Royal Caribbean has decided that it will embed the ability to get three drinks per "happy hour" at any bar on the ship, except the Main Dining Room, the Windjammer or the specialty restaurants. The allowed drinks will be the same that they are in the Lounges.

    :)

Sorry to butt in and I'm sure this is a pretty silly question, but it is THREE DRINKS PER NIGHT, correct? Not just three drinks total? The wording on the email was weird to me, and I just want to make sure I understand.

  2. Great place to hang out!

Thanks for the pictures! Looks like a fun place. We were looking for something to do in Falmouth because Jamaica is not really one of my favorite ports. Looks like this could be a cheaper fun stop for my boyfriend and I.

  3. Back to the OP question of BP, I too have high blood pressure and take two different meds. I have a note from by doctor clearing me to dive. I answer the questions yes and provide a copy of my clearance. After review I've never had a problem with diving. I second having DAN, to me it's just part of my yearly cost of diving.

Always good to hear from another experienced diver that is dealing with hypertension. Thanks for letting me know! I am officially registered with DAN and am looking into a certification course up here, as my cruise date has been pushed back to April. This thread has been super helpful. :D

  4. Cruises are what you make of them. The only reason I rescheduled mine to the Oasis is because I'm scared if I don't have a WOW!! experience on my first cruise with my boyfriend, he'll swear off of them forever. I've heard negative comments on bar service and the last review said that their cabin smelled like mildew, which is a little bizarre to me because they just did a refurb. Vision is one of my parent's favorite ships and I'm a little bummed for the lack of itinerary on the Oasis, but I'm just a girl with a soft spot for the bigger ships. If you go on the ship with a bad attitude, you might not have as great of a time as if you go on expecting to have a blast.

    Hope your cruise is great!

  5. I actually ended up cancelling my cruise on Vision in January and booking with Oasis in April. It was only a few hundred more and I've been on Allure so I know what I'm in for. Since its the first cruise I'm going on with my boyfriend, I want to make sure it's spectacular. I love cruising and don't want him to have a bad experience and swear off of it forever.

  6. Log in, select cruise and date, go to category selection but then get, information temporarily unavailable, try later. I've been trying later for 3 days now. What gives?

I don't want to call because I like to look at what is available first before I talk to anyone.

The website wasn't working at all for me earlier today - every link I clicked brought me to customer service (ironic..). I cleared cookies and all was well. Hopefully this clears up your problem as well.

  7. Hey there!

I'm lucky; I don't cruise until January. I just started dieting with exercise about two weeks ago and lost six pounds. I am aware that most of it is water weight, but I could also use some help staying on track (....I had pizza for supper and hash for breakfast today, yikes!). As added motivation, I'm hoping to get married next October. The weight I lose for my cruise can continue to carry on through my wedding. I don't have a whole lot to lose, I would be happy with 15-20 lbs. If you ever need motivation, feel free to message me.

  8. I had two. We went on Liberty to Belize and went cave tubing which was spectacular, and my last cruise on the Freedom was the last family vacation I took with my parents and sister so I hold that pretty near and dear. We had tequila tasting in Cozumel, I got a massage on the beach and we partied at Carlos and Charlies. These were the best because they got my whole family together; that's how I started cruising. My boyfriend and I will be taking our first cruise together in January!

  9. Great review. I've been on this class and had a great, great time. Always something to do. My favorite was the Boardwalk too. We are traveling on a smaller class (Vision) to sort of get back to our cruisin' roots this January, but I definitely have a soft spot for the bigger ships... so many more dining options. Glad you had such a great time, welcome back!

  10. I'm also super disappointed by the reviews I've found in this thread. My boyfriend and I will be cruising on the Vision in January, it's his first Royal Caribbean cruise. He LOVES a good steak, and a night at Chops was going to be my anniversary present to him. I'm not normally a picky person, but I can't justify paying $35 for the choice of filet or strip... What kind of a steakhouse is that? Looks like we will be taking ourselves to Giovanni's instead or just skipping specialties all together.

It just seems like they have been cutting corners lately and charging more for less. Bummer.

  11. Last question, I swear! You have all been so informative and I really appreciate all of the input I've gotten on this thread. About how long does it take you to get certified? Do you have to have a certain number of dive hours before you can be considered "certified"? I work full time in the evenings and go to school full time during the day so I would only have one or two days a week to put in. I didn't know if it was a certain length or just like, a full day spent in the water.

I can imagine learning to clear my mask in a lake will be easier than learning with salt water in my eyes! But either way, thank you again for this thread. I'm so excited!

  12. Wine by the glass is included up to $12 and then you pay the difference above that. They have limited wine by the glass on Vision.

Thank you for this bit of information. My boyfriend and I will be on the Vision 01/10/15 and were wondering which drink package to choose and if $55 a day would be worth it. If wine is upwards of $12 a glass, I think we'll splurge and get them.

  13. You refer to Safety Course.. I too am clueless what you mean. Are you certified? It’s a yes or no. If you are, then maybe a refresher, which any instructor of Divemaster (not the same as a Master Diver, who cannot perform them) can perform.

I am not certified. I've never been diving in my life. I've done my fair share of snorkeling, which I understand has nothing to do with diving, but that's about as far as it goes. I was thinking of getting certified before I go on my cruise through an instructor up here in Northern New York (brrrr!). I feel I would benefit more from a more indepth description of safety than a brief cruise course would teach me.
