  1. I am trying to find out if the wheelchair accessible island tour in St Maarten offered by RCL is with Benards Tours?  I've heard such good things about the Benards tour, but if you book directly, it's 4 times as much.  I'm assuming it's because it would be a private tour?  Any information you could provide would be great.  We've been here once before and just rolled into town.  We would like to see more of the island this time.

    Thank you in advance,

    Cheryl

Have you checked with your cruise line about accessible tours they may be offering?

A collapsible wheelchair should fit in most taxis if you want to arrange a private tour of the island.

If you decide to not go on a tour, Heritage Quay is right where most ships dock.   Do a search on Heritage Quay Antigua and you will find lots of photos.

Here's one wheelchair user's report on Antigua.   https://spintheglobe.net/dir/2019/01/28/cruise-port-of-call-wheelchair-accessibility-review-st-johns-antigua/

I've seen a few recommendations for Lawrence of Antigua so he might be able to arrange something:

  3. Does anyone know of a wheelchair accessible tour in St Johns, Antigua?  I was searching old topics, but I did not find any resources.  My husband has a collapsible wheelchair, but can only transfer into a lower vehicle (4 door sedan).  Most tours we've found are bus-style or open air tall vehicles.

Thank you in advance for suggestions

  4. If you are like us, it is easier for my husband to transfer into a car than an SUV or mini van so we prefer Uber X.  You do have the ability of selecting a vehicle based on the ones in the area.  The app says to enter your destination in app and swipe up to see all vehicle options available.  Tap one to select your ride, then tap "choose Uber x" button.

  5. cruise_mojo,

we decided on an inside cabin on an oct 2020 cruise on the symphony of the seas to san juan, labadee, coco cay and st thomas.  it looks like we have a great location by the vitality cafe and fitness center and also close to the elevators.  this is our first time in an accessible inside cabin.  we usually book the virtual balcony or oceanview.

  6. When my husband (full time wheelchair user) and I docked in GSC (Dec 2017), he was unable to go ashore because you had to manuever a couple of steps to board the tender. Not sure why they didnt employ more accessible tenders (like they have in Grand Caymen) when they made the extensive upgrades to the NCL private island?

  7. St. Thomas - Frenchman’s Reef & Morning Star Marriott Beach Resort offer day passes but you will have to contact the resorts directly to inquire as to overall accessibility and whether or not beach wheelchairs .

Tortola - nothing is very accessible .

Thank you for the tip on Morningstar, xxoocruiser. I was able to find passes on resortforaday.com that included drink credit.
