So then you will also say you have been exposed when you answer the pre-cruise health screening questions?

Questions like this need to stop. Everyone has likely been exposed, in some capacity, within the last 14 days, whether we know it or not. The ability to know in a more accurate fashion ended when contact tracing ended.

However, we are all having to do this dance with testing and jump through the seemingly increasingly-difficult hoops as governmental policies change on testing. So, people are answering questions however is necessary to attempt to jump through these hoops.

It's way past time for pre-cruise testing to go away, in my opinion.

  2. I really, really hope they drop the testing requirements. It is nearly impossible to get excited for your upcoming cruise because you are waiting for the potential shoe to drop 3 days in advance.

And for a big family like ours with 75 different moving pieces to line up for a vacation, that’s extremely difficult.

Keep the vaccine mandate. Lose the testing.

At??? That's a new one on me. When we sailed on the Vista back at end of Sept. , when we did the health assessment online, I had to re-do it at least 3 times, because it kept popping up after I had completed it. I assume you are referring to something completely different.

At the port is what's throwing me. Sorry.

    Yep. Don’t get it.

Likely you don't qualify for the sale rate but you can check by logging into your Carnival account and checking "my offers."

For reasons I can't understand, my hubby is getting access to all kinds of crazy promos including the birthday sale but I qualify for nothing. When we price a cruise with his VIFP number the total is SIGNIFICANTLY (60%) lower than when I use mine. In fact, I'm not getting any discount for being a past guest at all.... whether I use my VIFP number or not the price is the same.

Very disappointed that he is getting offers I cannot access as a family of 6 we need two cabins and I'm having a hard time justifying paying 60% more when I know that I should be able to get the same deal. Hubby and I have the same number of days sailed so no reason that he should get preferential rates that I can't.

He did book the Panorama for this July and the "deal" disappeared but then re-appeared the next day. In fact, after he booked, he got MORE offers (all of which offer a significant savings over what I would have to pay - go figure!!) and he currently has 11 offers, while I have 4 that as I said, don't actually offer any savings at all.

    Carnival works in mysterious ways....

Yeah I see now logging into my profile. My wife has it but I don’t. Weird.

But yeah, that’s what I was asking. How to physically see it and check it. Me seeing a random email is unlikely. Haha.

It really is very simple.  If you have been vaccinated and had a booster, you can test 72 hours before.

If you are vaccinated and did NOT get a booster, you have to test 48 hours before.

    Except it isn’t that simple.

There are the people that are ‘up to date’ but are not yet eligible for a booster. It’s 3 days for them too even though they haven’t had a booster.

A person not yet eligible for a first booster because of timing can test 3 days prior. That has been clarified on these boards many times and by Carnival and John Heald

I mean to me, I don’t see any other way to read it aside from it being 3 days ahead testing if you are vaccinated but not yet eligible for the booster.

My son-in-law didn't even think about not having received his booster, he received his initial one later than all of the rest of us due to eligibility. We didn't think twice about it since he had received the first two. We all tested within the 72 hour window. He had to be re-tested at the port since he was not eligible for the 72 hour time-frame. We had no idea.

He passed so it didn't really affect our vacation but I thought I'd pass it on to others that may not have received the booster yet.

So here’s my question. Was your son-in-law eligible for the booster yet at the time of sailing?

  8. Please correct me if I am wrong, because we sail in a little over 2 weeks. This is what I understand to be correct based in Carnival’s website, even though my PVP told me something different.

I am fully vaxxed and had my booster shot earlier this week.

Wife and daughter are fully vaxxed but are not yet eligible for a booster because they completed the initial vaccination course within the last couple of months.

The way I read it, we are all eligible for 72 hour testing.

Most will recommend you arrive the day before your cruise to build in a buffer incase of flight issues or other delays. In that case I would recommend flying into FLL and staying at a hotel near that area. They are often cheaper. Then using a transportation company like SAS to get to POM. Most transportation companies will have lists of FLL area hotels they pick up from. The price is about $14 per person.

Getting back to FLL to fly home I would uber from POM.

Thanks. Yeah we are actually planning on coming in 2 nights early to spend the day before relaxing in the Miami area. I was just wondering how painful the process would be. Haha

  10. Quick question which I'm sure has been discussed numerous times. We are sailing out of the Port of Miami, but airfare is significantly cheaper to Ft. Lauderdale vs. Miami.

How difficult would it be to get from Ft. Lauderdale to a hotel in Miami/ Miami Beach.... and then from the port to the airport the day of debarkation?

    Thanks!

the current CDC guidelines only allow 7 day cruises until November 2021. any cruises longer then 7 days is assumed to be either canceled or an itinerary change to be within the 7 day time frame

Oh wow. I somehow missed that. Well that stinks.

  12. If you look at any pictures of even the newer ships right now, they all are showing a lot of rust. That is why under normal circumstances almost any time any ship is at any port, you see the crew painting some part of the ship.

Salt water/ air and metal is a constant battle....so when the upkeep stops for 5 months, rust showing is the result.

We were supposed to be on the Horizon this Saturday for 8 nights. 10 year anniversary and going Platinum. We waited it out until it was cancelled and booked the same ship on 10/31. I hope it sails, but, I’ll understand if not. A lot can happen in nearly 6 months.

    Dang. Got room for us?
