  1. Thank you all so much for all your kind advice.

Unfortunately on this occasion of those who needed helping in the rough seas one was a 6 year old and another is on other meds...so the meds option was not possible. However ginger sounds a good remedy which I will remember for the future.

  2. Just a note of warning...on a very rough week-long European cruise, following Storm Dennis across the North Sea, we needed extra Sea-Bands. I found some in the Oceana onboard shop, and had to pay £28 plus for 2 pairs.....a total rip-off in my opinion. Memo to self and others...don't forget to bring them with you/purchase them before you leave!!!

Other tips for coping with the rough sea-conditions would be welcome! At the moment, we are not considering another ocean cruise in the near future!

  3. Hi Heather,

I've just seen your post...we are on that sailing too, but I don't remember getting any emails about saving the date.

We've not cruised with MSC before and wondering how the embarkation/disambarkation in all the various ports will work, as passengers seem to be booked on different "legs" of the cruise. We are going as far as Genoa, but I have seen that others are getting off earlier.

Otherwise, it's going to be a new adventure for us....the previews of the ship look fantastic!

  4. Hi , do they have 'healthy' breakfast in Solarium like on other ships ( F.e. ALLURE) ?

    Thank you

We usually like to have breakfast in the dining room, to avoid the Windjammer scramble...are any of the dining rooms open for breakfast on the Ovation. Grateful for answers and suggestions for alternative breakfast venues.

  5. Just had a fabulous 3 days aboard Ovation! What a beautiful ship and amazing crew. We have never encountered such a friendly and welcoming crew before! Every moment was a joy - so many areas to hang out in and lots of good entertainment. We are still not sure what Spectre's Caberet or the Dream was but the technical aspects and cast were fantastic!

Food was excellent, we never saw Windjammers busy at all apart from when we got on.

The Solarium was fantastic! Great being able to use the pools when it is freezing outside!

Room was excellent - very spacey, big bed that my feet didn't hang off and a lovely bathroom with powerful shower. We would certainly cruise on her again.

Having just returned on the P&O Britannia a few weeks ago and having the most horrific time my faith in cruising has been restored.

Thank you for your post...we board on Friday, and we're getting excited!

  6. Thanks from me too.

I had heard from one of my neighbours of a holiday spoilt when they were totally stuck on the Danube because of the level of the river. Their whole holiday was spent on coaches to-ing and froing!

Looks like we may pass each other en route, KarlS, as we leave next week on AMAReina .

So far I haven't come across any CC members who are doing this trip, but as mentioned on another post, that is not really surprising.

Our first river cruise, and we are looking forward to it, and to the lovely itinerary.
