  1. Hi

I have a question that I hope someone can answer. I have moderate mobility issues. I have booked Dora for our cruise. We have to meet her outside the port. She said there is a shuttle to the port area and then about a 1/4 mile walk to get to her is this accurate. Also would it be about the same walk to get the bus for a ship's excursion? Thank you for your help. Stewart.

  2. Hi everyone,

My husband and I are going on the symphony on September 8th from Miami  and returning to Miami on September 17th. Then on the 17th we are going on a carnival cruise.

I know things can change but we like to have our ducks in a row as soon as possible. We are testing at home before the RCL cruise. Our issue is the side to side.

My question is has anyone else done this and how did they accomplish testing before getting on the second ship. Thank you all for your input. Stewart.

  4. PTC Dawg,

This is the OP. Normally I would not even respond to your post. It is extremely obvious you didn't read my original post. The reason for this thread is to tell people what I experienced so people are aware.

What I find most interesting from your post you didn't not address celebrity's website stating that transportation capacity would be decreased and it wasn't. Don't take my word for that other people have posted it as well. Maybe you don't mind a company lying to you.!!!

  5. This is the OP. Thank you Earthworm Jim. That was exactly my point. Also the CELEBRITY website clearly states that excursions with transportation will be at REDUCED capacity. That was not the case at all. If a company puts something on their website I believe you should be able relay on that information. I never said it had to be six feet apart.

  6. Thank you everyone one for the positive feedback. We don't know how many people were on board because we didn't do all the shows and hardly any activities. For whatever reason we chose to remain by ourselves. Which in the past was not like us but this is not the past it is the present.

Brockmom -  I totally agree with you. Just beware at the time we took the cruise some ports you couldn't get off the ship if you didn't have a celebrity excursion and at some ports could only go into the port area without a celebrity excursion.

  7. Hi All,

My husband and I just came back from the Equinox. First I want to see we had a great time. This cruise did for us what we always need on a cruise to relax, and get away from ordinary life.

This is not a review I just want people to be aware of what sailing on the Equinox will be like during COVID-19.

From the moment we entered the ship no masks where required. In fact celebrity did nothing to promote social distancing. I am fully aware almost all passengers were vaccinated and tested two days prior. I think especially how the website is worded they could have limited people on an elevator and social distance in the theater. By the way all crew members are fully vaccinated and wear masks all the time.

In the dining the staff was very accommodating to seat us by our selves and we a good distance from other guests.

I think where celebrity failed the most is in shore excursions, before we went on the cruise I read on cruise critic how there was no social distancing on tours. Knowing this we went to the shore excursions desk upon getting on the ship. I told the associate what I read.on cruise critic. She told me she can't tell me how many tickets would be sold until they know what vehicles would be used. Also she told me they will continue to sell tickets until the excursion leaves. She offered to call me with the information on how many on each tour but that information is irrelevant if they keep on selling tickets. I then asked her if I could get a refund if I went out to see how the bus looks and didn't take the tour. I was told no. We cancelled all tours at that point.  I am the type of person that believes it is my responsibility and my responsibility alone to do what is right for me. No one else can nor should make that decision.

In Dominica my husband and I did a private tour and it was very good. Since we had on board credit we used it for the tour. We were in a van which sat 16 passengers. We were supposed to be on a 3 hours tour but lasted 2.5 but we saw everything. The cost was $ 165.00 for each of us. We passed a large bus and it was packed full and on the road we passed a few vans and they were absolutely packed. No social distancing nor masks were worn. This really irritates me because of what celebrity promotes on the website. I strongly suggest celebrity removes all about making the tours safe from their website.

Also I had a chat with the excursions manager. She told me the shore side team that manages excursion will be have all excursions at least 100% capacity.

I hope you find my comments helpful.  Again I feel a company can do what they want to and therefore I as a consumer can do the same.

  8. Arzeena,

I totally agree with you. Everyone must make the decision which is correct for them. All you did was answered the question I asked which I appreciate.

As I said earlier my husband and I will talk to shore excursions upon getting on the ship and explain our situation. If they allow us the go to the excursion and see if we are comfortable. If we are not  will they refund the money. If they say no we will cancel all excursions right there. If they say yes then we will go and see. Hopefully it will be okay. If not and then they change their minds and won't have refund the money. We will then cancel all remaining excursions and we review our options about sailing with them again.

I know there are a lot of if' s in what I wrote but that is the world we are living in today.

Thanks again for your input. Very much appreciated. Stewart

  9. I agree with you. If they lie to me and I can't cancel that one excursion I will at that point cancel all future excursion. At that point I will decide if I want to give royal Caribbean Group any more of my business. I am fully aware if I decide never again to sail with Royal Caribbean Group it won't have an really significance to the bottom line.

We still live in a capitalistic society and I can "vote" with my "pocketbook".

  10. My husband and I just spoke about this. We decided for us we will wait to board the ship and speak to the shore excursions desk. Telling them our concerns and asking if we go to the shore excursion and we deem it unacceptable can we get our money back. If the say no then at that point we will cancel all shore excursions. If they say yes we will see what happens.

  11. Canderson,

You are absolutely correct. At a lot of ports we have been at  there is a ship representative directing you. In these times I don't understand how these people don't see what is going on and if they do then allowing it. Especially if you develop symptoms and get removed from the ship at the next port.

As I said earlier it is on my to make the best decision for me. Not anyone else. No one can force me to take a tour I deem unsafe. If I lose the money for the tour so be it.  I will cancel all other tours I have and  I will decide if the Royal Caribbean Group will get any more of my business.

  12. Fouremco,

I read that as well. So what trump's what. That statement or what is currently on their website do to covid. What you put on here is the boiler plate that they have had for years. Please understand I agree with you 100%.

I know I am at their mercy. My husband knows I am a "little stressed" about this. I am the one who told him we will only do ship excursions right now because of what they said on thier website. He is leaving the decision up to me.

I am also aware celebrity is probably well aware what the vendors are doing and turning a blind eye.

I am the type of person that does not believe other people are responsible for my safety only I am.

  13. Like I said my husband and I are thinking of just cancelling all excursions before we board. I know this is not very optimistic but I am concerned that I will get on board and talk to someone at the shore excursions desk and they will say yes I can check the excursion out and if I don't go on I can cancel and get my money back.

Then that happens and I go back to shore excursions and I get someone else and told to bad. They won't refund my money. That would not make me happy.

  14. I am really concerned about this especially since celebrity says on their website the tours that have transportation will not be at full capacity.

I am of two minds from what I read on this board. One is just cancel all tours. The other is going to the shore excursions desk and tell them about the situation and if they will let us check out the tour and if we deem it unsafe go and get our money back or OBC.

We are on the equinox leaving on September 26th.

    Thanks all

  15. Hi

I am sorry this is happening to you. I had a problem with celebrity awhile ago. I sent emails all over celebrity but finally got a response from this email address. You might want to try this

Not sure if it would help. Good luck and have a great time.
