  1. Congrats on your weight loss, 24 pounds is a chunk of chub to lose. I need to lose about 40ish and would like to lose some or all before my May cruise to Canada.

    I believe WW is rolling out their new program in early December. It sounds like mostly "tweaks" but rumors of some proteins being zero points and daily points allowance being lower sounds like it will require some adjustments.

    I'm struggling but sometimes if you embrace the changes you can recapture "honeymoon" stage of weight loss- that's what I'm hoping :)

  2. Hi all :)

    I realize this is a very broad question but we are in the early stages of planning our Norwegian cruise and are trying to decide between the 9 day NCL Jade (Hamburg, Alesand, Flam, Helleyslt ,Bergen) and a 7 day Princess Sapphire (Stavenger, Olden, Geiranger, Helleyslt, Bergen). We have sailed both lines before and felt Princess was a bit nicer overall but found them both great cruiselines and really want to maximize our time and options ashore.

    We want to enjoy the scenery but I like to experience the local culture and people.

    I'm scouring the threads but any input would be great.

  3. It's been a long while since I've been on the boards. We have a short cruise booked for early December and I really want to drop a chunk of chub. I need to lose 50 lbs but don't know if that's realistich in that time period.

    I was trying to get a start on calorie counting and Weight Watchers but just couldn't get going. I'm on my second day of Atkins and am feeling very hopeful. Thing is I really believe that low carb is probably the best WOE for me (it's more what I'm not eating rather than what I am) I just need to make it past the first week when I feel kinda psycho ( I know that's not an Atkins approved side effect) also tend to feel a bit nauseated (sp).

    Love this thread, can spend hours going back and reading for inspiration.

  4. Is this including the cruise excursions? We have one booked for our upcoming cruise and it hasn't been cancelled online yet??? I just don't want to get on board and have to scramble to change.

  5. I've gone full-circle on purchasing knock-offs. First trips to NYC and Nassau and I was all excited to see them but really they're fake and most people can tell. I realized I can take $40-$60 to a department and get a much nicer and higher quality handbag than I did on Canal Street. I also didn't like the atmosphere of Canal Street or the Straw Market-I felt like prey for the vultures.

     

    But when we were there a few years ago they did have some sunglasses, don't know about the watches as I definately wouldn't chance buying something mechanical that couldn't be returned if it quit working.

    Wish I could say I was new here but sadly I'm a repeater. As much as I know lo-carb is the best way for me to eat for my body... I'm struggling to stick to that WOE. I lost about 30 lbs several years ago and felt great, my numbers were good but fell off the wagon.

    I've been on induction for two days now and am in the "I feel like carp" phase, sugar and carb withdrawl. I really think if I can make it through the first few weeks I can settle into a food routine. Any tips??
  7. So I booked a cruise and sent in my only 500 certificate that I earned before NCL cancelled the program, along with 3 1-category updgrade certificates.

     

    I had already booked through an agent and asked to use my 250 pre-cruise deposit tied to my Past Passenger # that I bought last year onboard the Pearl. No problems there and the 250 was applied to my cruises as deposit.

     

    Now I send in the certificates and my agent tells me the NCL supervisor says that I CANNOT combine the offers (250 pre-cruise deposit + 500 voucher). Absolutely not true. I read the information after I bought the 250 deposit on my previous cruise, and the 500 certificates and it indicates it CAN be combined with other offers.

     

    I can't believe my luck. Many on this board have received the 500 vouchers and gotten upgraded or added OBC with some of the 100 point vouchers!

     

    Me, they haven't even said they'll do anything with the 4 100 vouchers and are denying my past cruise deposit in combination with my 500 voucher.

     

    NCL Stinks. My agent has 20 yrs experience and knows better that they are combinable and was completely frustrated when a Supervisor argued with her saying she didn't know what she was talking about. My agent was steamed! She is still going to try and pursue this get my 250 deposit + 500 voucher. I doubt they'll do anything past that with the 100 vouchers!!!

     

    I can't believe I have to fight for something that is owed to me

     

    Does anyone have a contact at NCL Compass Rewards or some other department that I might be able convince them to apply my credits?

    Have you tried calling NCL directly? I haven't booked with a travel agent but if it's less hassle to book with NCL you may want to consider skipping the travel agent this time. JMO

  8. We have a $500 certificate from the old BOA that we can use for $500 off our next cruise. We have to book the cruise by Jan - 2010 and go on the cruise by Dec. 2011. Don't know which cruise to book right now but if we go ahead and give a deposit on a cruise, then mail in the certificates, but then cancel before the final payment would we be allowed to change it to a different cruise as long as we used it by Dec. 2011. In other words, we can book, send in the certificate, get the $500 credit, then decide to change our minds because I don't know for sure which cruise. Would we be safe doing that because I don't want to lose the credit. Does anyone know?:confused:

     

    Sounds like it has the potiential to be a nightmare. I would wait a few months, make a decision and commit to a cruise then mail the certificates. It's always best not to invite Murphy into your life :)

  9. I'm amazed at how quickly NCL processed our credits.

    I mailed the 2 $500 certificates registered and they were credited in less than a week. The 17th I mailed our upgrades in an envelope with a little note requesting that they apply them to the booking, and today the cabins were upgraded.

    Kudos to NCL.

  10. I have sent mine "registered mail" twice, and claimed the value of the certificates. I think it is about $10 more than than certified, and someone has to sign for it every step of the way, that may slow it down by a day, but I was told that if I claimed the value, it would be insured.

     

    Did you send it to the PO box or the Corp Cent Dive address?

  11. I don't believe you can use the cerificates. A few years ago we wanted to let our daughter use one from our card and they said my husband and/or I had to be in the booked cabin we were even trying to add her as a card holder and it was a no-go. But maybe someone else has had better luck with finding a way around the guidelines. I doubt having the same name will be of assistance as they are pretty astute to identites on the ships.

  12. In May I sent my $500 Compass Reward certificate to the PO Box listed on the back of the certificate. I sent it Certified/Return Receipt. (Of course, I photocopied the certificate before I mailed it) I think the total cost was about $5.50

     

    I mailed it on a Tuesday....but Wednesday of the following week I received an email from my Trav Agnt letting me know that NCL had applied the $500 credit to my remaining balance.

     

    I didn't realize you could get a return receipt from a PO box. I thought someone had to sign for it??

  13. Thanks C Breeze, I think that's what I'll do as well.

     

    I remember I didn't have any problems and they showed up pretty quickly in my online acct. I'm just such a worrier I'll feel better when I see the credit.

     

    We almost just didn't use the certificates so I'm glad I found this little 4-nighter that fit into our schedule. We still have a handful of upgrades we may toss them in an envelope, mail them in and see if anything happens.

  14. I was just informed by my TA that we can only use 3 certificates per person. The credit card is in my wife's and my name, and the certificates all have my name on them. I had four $500 certificates and wanted to apply them all to my $3500 balance. Does anyone know if this is correct, or do I need to start a fire under someone?

    We used 4 ($2000) on our Med cruise last year but we booked directly with NCL.

  15. Hi everyone!

    We booked a cruise for spring break next year to use our remaining $1000.

    We used $2000 on a Med Cruise last year and I REALLY wish I would have remembered how I sent them. When my DH called Norwegian they told him to mail them to the address on the certificate and have them insured but from what I'm hearing they aren't insurable? My question is if they are lost in the mail and we have copies can they be replaced??

    I'm going to go back and scour this thread but have most been sending them registered?

  16. Hi everyone, starting Atkins here again. I need to lose about 60 pounds. Here's my issues..... I do fine for a few days then start getting a little quesy and feeling yucky and then of course it's easy justifying going off the program. I lost 25 pounds a few years ago on Atkins and felt great but just can't seem to get into the "zone" again with it.

    Any tips???

    P.S no cruise planned yet:( need to get through a summer trip to NYC before I can divert funds to cruising:(
