    Hi everyone,

I was wondering if anyone could give me some more details about the equipment at the fitness center on the Equinox. I'm travelling in August and would love to be able to keep up my routine. Are there squat racks and free weights available? Or just cardio equipment?

    Thanks!

    Kat

you can do dumbbell squats, machines are almost always free and you can hit probably all of the main muscle groups with them.  no squat rack at all.  I don't know if the bench's incline, I didn't try that.  I did dumbbells and then the machines, I tried running mutiple times but that was difficult because of the rocky seas.

You can certainly get a workout in, but unless that stuff is what you use, it's pretty hard to be identical to what you have at home.

  2. we experienced it on eclipse way back when, many of my postings were on cruise, and despite some people saying that we couldn't sleep in the room, i can guarantee you that my wife didn't sleep in our room.  I will tell you that the problem was limited, move 2 or 3 doors down and everything was fine.

I would look on the s line database on the top of this board and look for that room or the one next to it, because that would be a good indications, i did leave a note on my room.

We are traveling again on celebrity on reflection this time and staying in the royal suite this time, I haven't seen anyone complaining about those rooms.

May I inquire as to what your third (3rd) party travel insurance will cover or did you take out X's insurance?

If neither, 57% FCC is quite generous, I would think.

When did you realize that the connection time was not going to work?

Was the 40 minutes connecting time always 40 minutes or were the fights changed?

Were you flying in a day or two before your sailing?

Yet, you cite there were 'significant problems leaving DCA.' Is it possible that the 40 minutes would have been fine, if the JFK departing flight was in the same terminal?

It sounds like DCA departure may have been the real issue and even if there was 1 hour 45 minutes connection time, you may have missed the flight regardless or have we missed some of the details here?

Sorry you missed the sailing and sorry that you believe that you were not treated well at all in this situation....

Over time you will be able to reflect back on the situation and really figure out where blame really needs to be placed or not.

    bon voyage

So I don't book with choice air because I prefer to book my own transport, but I thought the point of booking with them was to prevent these problems?

I purchased a set of super strong magnetic hooks from Amazon. I hang two in the shower and pack a piece of twine that I tie onto them for wet bathing suits and hand washables. The others I attach to the cabin walls for all that paper, to hang purses, ties (DH did stop bringing those...but that's another topic), hats etc.

I had 6 of the hooks last time and used them all, i will have double that number this cruise.

Also coffee mug to keep my coffee warm for long periods of time.

Can I ask what industry you work in where you need 3 devices? I want to say social media and/or advertising. Is the ship internet meeting your needs? I’ve thought about trying to WFS (Work From Ship) but I’m worried that the latency/lag would make it unusable.

just guessing but I have a iphone, ipad and laptop. and it's annoying to have to login and logout all the time.

Both of the documents indicate the benefits that come with the different levels of suites.  The benefits are available whether you book with the basis price (nonrefundable deposit), two perks, or four perk options. If you book a RS with the four perk option, you are really only getting the $150 OBC (pp) and gratuities as the Premium Drink Package and internet are already with the RS.

the odd thing i saw was that the grid doesn't show premium drinks and internet below the 5 at the top that i would assume are from the go best option.

that's why I wrote the question.

  7. It is important that you go through an easy set up step with Verizon in advance before your very first use. You will be asked to provide an emergency number among a few other things. Once set up try it at home. If you have an iPhone the top left corner should have "(signal meter) VZW Wi-Fi (wifi symbol)" when it is working. We have used this very successfully on ship and in ports (find a WiFi hotspot) all over the world. Works great. No additional costs. Put your phone in airplane mode and then turn on your phone's wifi. In a minute or less you should get the symbol above.

i agree with the other posters, you do need to setup with verizon but you don't have to actually contact them, you just got airplane mode with wifi on, and it should work, but you should have a phone settings where it says allow wifi calling and you need to have that enabled, my phone did not come with that setting enabled when I got my iphone x

  8. SHIP: Eclipse

    CABIN #: 1635

    DECK #: 11

    CLASS: Aqua

AREA: 1/3 of the way up from the back of the boat and about 6 rooms past the middle elevators

    BED NEAR: Window

    QUIET?: yes

    BALCONY VIEW: good

    BALCONY SIZE: normal

    WIND A PROBLEM?:no

    SOOT A PROBLEM?:no

PROBLEMS/COMMENTS:DONT BOOK THIS ROOM, IT SHAKES ALL OF THE TIME. My wife couldn't sleep in this room, you can't read because it shakes so much, it actually makes your mouth shake like your teeth are chattering from cold, but the temperature is fine. This room was a nightmare, you will only be able to sleep if you have drugged yourself or they are going very very very slowly, or stopped.

  9. We are currently on the Eclipse and have been experiencing vibration in our cabin the entire cruise. We are the 9th deck port side just aft of the push out. We talked to the concierge about the vibration and he stated there is a known problem in a number of state rooms. Ship is full so no chance of changing cabins.

He offered compensation for the inconvenience and after a few days wait he said corporate would only approve a 10% or $300 per person compensation. Not sure how they came up with that amount considering guy999 compensation.

Seems the vibration is a known problem with no resolution in the near future. TA’s should be made aware of this problem to allow guests to avoid these room when booking. It is unlikely that will happen as it will hurt sales / bottom line.

be aware they(the front desk) knew that my wife did not sleep in our room for 8 days of the trip, and they also sent a front desk manager or something like that to our room multiple times who also agreed with the vibration so i would certain go down that front, this wasn't a vibration like in the restaurant, this would knock over a short glass of h20 if it was sitting on the bed even if no one was on the bed.

it was so strong i couldn't read in the room because the book would move around too much

  10. Did I miss something? How did a cabin suddenly materialize for the last 2 nights (did someone leave the ship early?).

yeah, we were only in copenhagen from 10-6 and then sea day and then leave from amsterdam, personally i wish i had thought of that, get off in copenhagen, stay in a hotel and fly back 2 days later from copenhagen, tickets would likely have been about the same and i would have gotten to see copenhagen a lot more, of course more expensive since I would have to also pay for the hotel, but yes as i understand it people left or at least one person did. and they were nice and didn't make us move all of our stuff, i tried to sleep in the new room but left at about 2 because the rocking was too much, it was a bit stormy.

  11. so back now, we ended up with a future credit of 1000 per person. not amazing but not terrible either, i was ok with it, I would have given up that money to have my wife sleep in the room during my vacation. I will likely travel again on celebrity but only in suites, and nothing ever towards the back ever again. I will post a review of the room in the thread so that people will check about it later.

they did move us the last two nights but it was too the very very back of the ship and for me, i couldn't handle the rocking up and down from back there, that's why i didn't pick the skysuite they had left when i was booking because it was in the back, anyways my wife slept back there and i slept in our room, i got woken up a few times, but i was ok.

overall, blu is amazing, my room steward was amazing, the ports are great,

oh they also bought us free dinner in tuscan while they were deciding compensation and I did think that was pretty decent. I have to say I think they did the right thing here. would I have liked more, sure, but a pony would be nice as well :)

  12. We are currently docked in Costa Maya on Equinox in an aft cabin. The seas are rough, we have been pummled with waves (white caps) hitting the stern since around 6am. I know our situation doesn’t even compare to yours but I feel your pain, the thumping, jolting and rattling has made our cabin unsable today...

I can’t even imagine how awful it must be for you 24/7.

As long as the ship doesn't move is manageable. Sorry you had to live through that storm sounds like that sucks

  13. my husband and i are leaving on a cruise out of barcelona on september 23 on the eclipse. we are in cabin #1635 also. after reading this thread i contacted my travel agent asking to be moved to another cabin. a day and a half later they sent me a list of available cabins. i immediately selected one and emailed them bu by then they had all been sold and now the travel agent is seeing what else can be done. any suggestions of what i can do to be proactive about this situation would be appreciated.

I would try and pay for an upgrade or downgrade before you get here is the entire ship full like this one is?

  14. Does your travel agent not think some sort of compensation should be given for this experience? I can’t believe that you wouldn’t receive either some OBC or a discount on a future cruise. Please do keep your videos and the names of all the ship’s personnel you’ve dealt with. It’s unbelievable that this couldn’t have been ameliorated in some fashion while you were onboard but certainly you should pursue it when you debark. And I agree, you are a saint!

My travel agent told me to contact them after the cruise if I was not happy but after I was on the ship he couldn't do anything

  15. I’m so sorry to hear this! I’m not impressed with the way they’ve handled your issue, because I think they should have let you sleep in the relaxation room. I’m glad you’re docked in St. Petersburg, so you can get some sleep at last.

On Silhouette, earlier this month, we were unable to dock due to high winds, so I’m very happy that you and your wife are be able to see the sights there:) (And I hope you’re able to enjoy them in your sleep deprived state.)

Last night being in port was amazing oh my God getting to sleep was so so great St Petersburg was great

  16. So are you saying you they are not going to give you ANY monetary compensation?

That is outrageous. I would escalate this to Miami when I got home, since obviously the ship's personnel is either useless or I don't know what.

Make sure you take videos with your cell phone of water glasses jumping off of tables.

Sorry I think there will be compensation just not on board credit

  17. last night was just as bad as the first night, it had gotten less, but even i couldn't sleep through last night but we are in st petersberg so i tried to make the most of it, there will be no obc they have told me. we are sleeping on the ship tonight, hopefully since it's not moving it will ok, feels amazing in our room now since we aren't moving.

we have been told that people are getting off at the last port, so we will hopefully get to move somewhere on the last two days, not much point in posting, i have tried everything everyone has recommended, when i walk up to guest services if i see someone new they know my name, so clearly they are all aware, but not much help.

they did bring me some chocolate covered strawberries, and Pellegrino, which was nice, but the Pellegrino really wasn't necessary since I have a drink plan, but you know thinking about it, it must be hard for them to come up with things for me. I already have all of my tours done, i like eating in blu, our staff is always helpful, but they were like that before and after the problem. i mean realliy without the cabin this is a really nice cruise, if i didn't have to sleep it would be great.

they have told me and my travel agent that there are no rooms at all, i thought that there might be some out of service, like no water or something but apparently not. one hundred percent occupancy this time, pretty good for them.
