2 things , firstly I'm American, born and brought up in Philly, second its pompous not pompos

Keep trolling. American born lol. Sure. And always the first thing people do when they don’t have anything else to do. Try to find grammar issues

First off all I never solicited business here, I simply mentioned the advantages of having a TA. Secondly, too bad if I hurt your feelings by stating my opinion (which is allowed here by the way) about ships not sailing through the summer. Calling someone a liar because they said ships won't sail through the summer, really?? Time for you to grow up and stop attacking people on an open forum. Like I said enjoy your cruises.

Are you a travel agent?   My feeling aren’t hurt, just don’t like seeing people put more fear into others.  Not attacking just pointing out the fact it was your opinion backed by zero facts.

How do you know I was on a Carnival site? looks like we might have a cruise critic stalker on our hands folks.  😂

I wanted to see how many other lies you were spreading. Pretty typical of a troller. No one wants to use your TA services. Go try to sell elsewhere.

Of the two Cirque du Soleil shows (Sonor or Viaggio) on Meraviglia, which would you recommend? Thanks.

If you like more modern, Sonor.  The entertainers are the same for both shows, but we enjoyed Sonor more.  The drink that comes with it is a limited selection.  They have trays of drinks when you walk in to pick from, there are like 3 alcohol and on non alcohol choices.  All very watered down, due to the ice melting over time as they sit there and you CANNOT bring in your own drinks

  5. Beginning the preparations for the big day, just 9 days away.  Everything is printed and ready to go, just need the time to go by a little faster.

    Itinerary:

Day 1 (Dec 1): Leave Miami

Day 2: (Dec 2): At Sea

Day 3: (Dec 3): Ocho Rios

Day 4: (Dec 4): George Town

    Day 5: (Dec 5): Cozumel

Day 6: (Dec 6): At Sea

Day 7: (Dec 7): Ocean Cay, if this hold true this will be the second ship there after the Divina on the 5th

Day 8: (Dec 8): Arrive Miami

Have sailed Seaside twice and this will be our 3rd MSC Cruise.  Nothing but great things to say about MSC, ONCE YOURE ON THE SHIP, LOL.  We'll be in the YC and very interested to see how it compares to the Seaside.  Ive heard the Seaside was built for the Caribbean and the Meraviglia was not.  The YC is larger as far as rooms, but the pool area has alot of glass shading in comparison and the YC lounge is not as open either as the Seaside.  To be honest, I dont care either way, its better to be in the Caribbean on a ship then at work in Chicago 🙂

I will be posting pictures from the ship and islands as we go.  Ocean Cay should be quite interesting.  As far as excursions, we only have 1 booked this time, as we have been to all the islands multiple times except Ocean Cay.  We are doing the submarine excursion at Grand Cayman.

Flying down to Miami on the 30th to beat the rush, we hope...

Any questions on the ship or YC, please feel free to ask.

    Bon Voyage (in 9 days)

  6. the depth is 2 Meters deep or 6'5" deep....theres no standing in the YC pool.  From what Ive been told its a European thing, if its a swimming pool they dont want people just standing in it, hence the name swimming pool and not wading pool  But there is plenty of room around the deep part, zero depth....or sit on the side and hang your legs in

I don't have the maitre d name. After that first night he never came near our table again. If someone was on the June 8 sailing please chime in. He was in maybe late 50s, bald or very little hair.

My family of 7 was also on the June 8th sailing in the YC.  I remember this guy, he was from the Ukraine.  The only thing I enjoyed about this guy was when he was on Deck 19 cooking at the specialty table during lunch.  This was our second time on the Seaside.  First time the Maitre D was Giuseppe and he was excellent.  He made it more about enjoying your vacation.   We booked again for the Seaside for May of 2020 and the Meraviglia for Dec 2019 and would not mind not running into this guy.  If your party was the birthday party group I remember you guys.  We didnt have any issues with seating though.

  8. As far as the services between the 2 (Haven and YC)  are very similar.  As any subject, you will have one person/group leaning one way and another person/group leaning the other way.  They are both excellent choices.   So it will be an experience that you make.  Here are some of the differences I have found between the two.

NCL Haven Room (owners Suite), the room was larger then the Deluxe Suite in YC, BUT did the Wife and I really need that much room?  Nope....Deluxe Suite was just fine.  Balcony in the Haven was huge and forward facing (since it was the owners suite), but again didnt use it a whole lot.  The spend difference between the 2 aren't even close either.  Double for the Haven.

My experience for the Butler on the Haven was non existent.   Never saw him, even when I wanted to.  Didnt impact my cruise negatively, as a day at sea is better then a day at the office.  YC Butler was everywhere.....and brought everything we could have imagined, including avacados to make Guacamole.  But service as a whole for both clubs were equal.

    Private areas:

Pool:  I would say MSC Seaside YC wins here.  The one in the Haven (Escape) was very small and narrow and was in the covered area (with the retractable roof), the only + for the Haven pool was it was chlorine water over salt water.  People may say, but the YC pool is soooo deep I couldnt stand around in it.   The YC Swimming Pool is deep, like 6'3", but it is called a swimming pool, not a wading pool.

Restaurant:  Very similar as far as service and food.  The Haven has an outside area for eating which was nice for breakfast.  The YC its all inside.  The Maitre D at the YC was amazing and that gives the YC the thumbs up for me

Lounge:  Haven Seaside Bar had like 6 stools and a small sitting area.  The   YC bar was very long, with some nice snacks at the end and had a very large sitting area, also you could go out the front and sit outside forward on the ship.  The bartenders on the Escape were very good.  They were actually mixologists so they made some very creative drinks.  As a whole though the size of the YC lounge wins for me.

So from my experience you will find both area very similar to services, sizes will vary depending on which rooms you get, but the Service you get as a YC guest outside the YC is another difference makes.  Priority everything, including the ports where there is a 1500 people line for a tender and you walk right to the front.

Price would be the last thing to consider.  YC wins that with ease.  I know prices vary from itinerary to itinerary, ship to ship and carrier to carrier, but the $$$$ are saved with MSC.  Owners Suite on Escape $8,000 (for a couple), Royal Suite on Oasis with none of the benefits, not even alcohol included, but have heard this has changed with an experience now $15,000 (for a couple) and MSC Yacht Club Deluxe Suite $4,200 (for a couple)...to us thats a no brainer.....2 for 1 or 4 for 1 cruises....

I am planning on purchasing the "Trio" of specialty restaurant on the Seaside for our next cruise. When I tried to book today, it made me select a date and time for each restaurant (so I didn't complete the purchase, because I wasn't sure). Is this new? When we booked the other package (Roy's cuisine) last year, it did not make us do this.

Would we be able to change while on board if we wanted to? We are in the YC, if it matters.

    TIA.

Yes you need to book the time selections for the Trio to pre-book it. Also, you will notice the time frames will change and not be available at other certain times.  To say the least, it is a messed up process.  What we did was call it in to the 800 # and they booked for the times we wanted.  Also, we are in the YC and your concierge can also change it for you, so dont stress too much over getting the times you want.  We did it last year too.  The teppanyaki is NOT included on the Trio only the the Pan-Asian which was very good.  We did the teppanyaki seating separate at an additional cost and it was one of the best teppanyaki places weve ever eaten at.

  10. Agree with Frank, we sat in Aurea for a bit to just sit there and we were YC'ers. I didnt see any advantage to sitting there versus staying in the YC area. Shade in Aurea was nothing. I found more shade in the YC area, not so much for laying out, but for sitting for a very small break

  11. Great review, just waiting for my status match I am diamond plus on RCCL and normally book grand suites, but really want to try YC. Thanks

The last 2 cruises prior I was in the Royal Suite on RCL and Owners Suite on NCL. Even though the Yacht Club Deluxe suite was smaller, there was more then enough room and storage for 2 people and I did miss the normally large balcony, I found I didnt really need the larger balcony and the one on the Deluxe suite was just fine and the amenities form the YC outweighed everything, best cruise that Ive been on and the price was fabulous. You will be made to feel very special in the YC, highly recommend you do it!!

  12. 4600 is what i paid too. I'm seeing it for over 6k on the MSC site now. Do you think you are getting a cheaper rate for sailing with them already?

Just called them back and that is exactly what it was for..voyagers club discount. I'm Currently Silver. It is now $4,800 for the same cruise for 2 people.
