  1. I’ve read on another site that it is possible to take the water taxi from port to Pigeon Island.  Google searches result a few water taxi companies I could book for a tour. Does anyone know if there is a water taxi similar to the one in St Maarteen. If not, we can take a taxi but just checking out all the options. Thank you.

    • I’ve cruised Magic, Mardi Gras, and Vista (plus Fascination, Fantasy, Glory, Triumph, Liberty, Pride, Dream, and Sunshine). Vista is my favorite. We cruise Horizon in March and I’m so excited since I know they are almost identical. On the Vista, I liked that there was no charge for the Sky Ride and it was fun. It also had a Clubhouse area in the sports square that we liked. One thing we really like is the IMAX and thrill theater. We rarely ever go to the movies and consider it a nice treat on a sea day. And the thrill theater is just fun.  We also sometimes watch the documentary style films they show as well. If we are hanging out on deck, some of us like to grab a bowl of pasta from the Italian place at lunch and chill in our lounge chair watching the ocean. You can’t do that on Mardi Gras.  Same thing with the pizza place. It is on deck 5 on Mardi Gras.

    • Now I’m not against the Mardi Gras, it is definitely #2.  Carnival changed the location and set up of Guys Burger for this ship and it flows so much better. Still on the upper decks for easy access while at the pool.  The pizza place is set up better too to handle the long lines but a bit more hassle if you want it for lunch while you are lounging in the sun. The Bolt coaster was cool to ride once but I wouldn’t pay to ride it again. Another big plus for Mardi Gras is Big Chicken. Family Feud was also fun.

    • I tried to add the comparison chart in case you hadn’t seen it.  You can see what each has and whether it is important for your family.

  2. I’ve been on 13 Carnival cruises.  My favorite one was out of Puerto Rico.  We had no sea days at all.  Maybe Carnival could do a few sailings from there instead of trying to stay all year.  I keep checking to see if they’ve added it as a home port.  I’ve looked at NCL Viva but I feel the price is high because it’s a new ship. With so many ports I wouldn’t have enough time to fully experience the ship. I also like Carnival a bit more than NCL because there are so many non-repeating comedy shows. I even wrote Carnival an email saying how great that cruise was and how I hope they will sail from there again. I received a response that said something along the lines of we hope so too.

  3. While reading your review I laughed out loud when you talked about the way the closet door blocked the TV. My husband would keep saying will you close the door.  I said “I’m busy trying to get ready and digging behind our hung clothes to see what’s on these stupid tucked away shelves.”  It’s such a weird design.  Thanks for another great review.

  4. We have two of the waterproof pouches.  One is smaller. It holds passports, ship card, money.  It’s small enough to fit in swim trunk pocket. We run the string through the hole in the bottom of the pocket (some swim trunks have a riveted hole in the pocket) then run it back to the top of the pouch and secure with a carabiner. You can tie the string to make it shorter so it doesn’t float out if the pocket doesn’t have a Velcro flap.  The cell phone goes in a separate pouch so nothing else in the pouch gets in the way. Everything else we just leave on the beach because it doesn’t matter if it gets stolen.

  5. I haven’t done the zip line in amber cove but we did the waterfalls. It felt very different from Dunn’s River. We went through Carnival cause of my anxiety if going too far from port and getting cheated out of $550 for a cancelled private excursion in june 2020. The Carnival

description said the bus load would be divided into two smaller groups. Once there it was decided there wasn’t enough time for that. It was so crowded.  I think it could be a great excursion thru a private company. I’m going to try to add a few videos.

  6. You don't have to give your employer a copy of your birth certificate. You can give them a copy of your Social Security card.

The only document I remember ever giving an employer was a copy of my Social Security card. My employer didn't make the copy. I made the copy and gave it to them.

It is an employment eligibility verification form. I think it has to be completed on all people working in the U.S. My employer just recently re-verified all employees (probably 300 or more people) because they have upgraded their system to an online system. Each employee had to show up during scheduled events with their required ID(s) per the acceptable documents on the I-9 form. This time the document(s) were scanned by an iPAD and uploaded instead of photocopied. Hope that helps.

  7. Interesting that people are referencing getting a copy of your birth certificate from your employer? Am I reading that right? I’ve never given that to any of my employers.

I've always had to provide identification to new employers (for the I-9 form) which they have always photocopied. Before I had a passport, I always used my birth certificate and social security card. That is what made me think her employer may have a copy.

  8. Check out the Breeze out of Port Canaveral. We are sailing to MB on the Breeze in May 2019. Also Amber Cove, Dominican Republic has a Monkey Land Excursion that was great so maybe a cruise to this port could be an option.

If you are looking at the Carnival Monkey excursion in Mahogany Bay I would suggest you skip it. There is only one monkey and it was tethered, we interacted with it for less than a minute. Not worth the money. The Carnival Monkey Land Excursion in Dominican Republic was worth every penny. Lots of monkeys, roaming free within their large sanctuary. They jumped on our heads, climbed all over us, ate from bowls of food the staff gave us, it was a lot of fun.

  9. We’ve had this same issue but on my last cruise it was well organized. On the vista when you enter the assigned station (dining room), you are instructed exactly where to place your suitcase. We were also instructed to have suitcase turned to the correct position so you could easily grab it and walk forward. After the suitcase was parked, you could sit wherever until your line of suitcases was called to debark. Those that came in later were escorted to the back of the suitcase line to leave their bag. It was well organized. Once the go ahead was given we went to our suitcase and simply followed the line out.

  10. Has he tried an external catheter for nighttime use? I do not believe a prescription is needed. Might be something he could deal with for a one week cruise?

    .

This is a good option. We use the condom catheters at work. Some patients request them because they don't like wearing a brief.

  11. We usually take a taxi to get there. In May it cost $16 for four people. We were the only ones there for most of the day. Each time we have went, we walk back. When leaving Governors, turn right on the road. When you get to Jacks Shack, cut across and walk up the beach. The first time we did this walk, the kids were 9. They never complained or said it was too much walking.

  12. If you really want a great view and nobody around, take a taxi to Governors Beach. There are no facilities no chairs, no restaurants and hardly ever anyone there. As you can see from the picture, the ship is still close by. We walk back on the road then cut across the beach to Jacks Shack then walk the beach back to the ship.
