The cabins sometimes become unavailable as late as turnaround day. During COVID days this was normal as RCI would take the cabin of a COVID positive customer out of service for the next sailing. Many other things could take a cabin out of the inventory.

Could take "A" cabin or even a few out of service for one reason or another I could see, but we're talking over 100 cabins in 1 day, 5 months presail. Insides, ocean view and balcony.   I'm not worried about obtaining a cabin, I know that will happen 🙂

  2. Anyone have any idea or seen this in the past?  Looking one day at balcony rooms only and able to spot more than 100.  Looked again 3 days later and only showing Grand Suites! 3 weeks later and still only showing a handful of Suites.

A little concerned as I am booked in a GTY Balcony room for this October Mediterranean sailing on VOTS.

    Not STILL available.

Railway tickets are send to sell-in-line by 6 to 6 months. Most of tickets would be up to the beginning of summer (people do not use to buy tickets with so advance).

Maybe in this or next months tickets will appear for first in the web. The first to buy, the best price. You could pay up to 25 euro only. Something extra if you want premium class (meal included) but a terribly price indeed

Interesting !  Learning so much from you.  Thank you so much Alserrod!!

  4. Thank you Alserrod.

Looking further into the train schedules ... seems like the only connection I could possibly take would leave at 8:05 am > change in Madrid > 2.5 hr lay over > then arrive in Barcelona at 4 pm.

I am not confident in a 8 am departure time nor spending the whole day travelling.  Now looking at a 9:15 am departure from AGP to BCN arriving 11 am.

  5. Sorry ... also which train stations to use?

    Depart Frm:

    Malaga-Maria Zambrano

and, here in this post, I wrote something more about Railway in Spain

This is great information. Thank You!

I think we will do the train.  Our ship (RCCL VOTS) is supposed to dock at 6 am. Any idea on how much time to depart, clear custom/immigration and arrive at train station in Malagra?

We will be docking in MALAGRA and heading to Barcelona... I think you had the itinerary reversed.

  7. Our cruise actually encompasses 4 Greek Islands already (Crete being one of them) and we have yet to explore the South of France and also Spain.  Our cruise ends up in Malaga Spain.

Something about watching all those James Bond movies really intrigued us to want to explore the French Riviera 🙂

Are there any castles to visit in the area?

  8. Hello 🙂

Firstly, our cruise leaves from Athens and ends in Malaga Spain.

We have a week prior to the cruise that we would like to visit some places, including the French Riviera.

Coming from Edmonton, what airport and what location would you recommend flying into?

Also what area (Cannes, Monte Carlo, Marseille ... etc) would be a good base for a hotel to visit beaches, shopping, markets?

After our week in the area our plan is to fly to Athens 2 days pre cruise.

    Suggestions? edits?

    Thanks all!

  9. Hi All

Disembarking in Malaga on a Wednesday but flying out of Barcelona on the Friday morning.

Not much into history or museums.  Just sightseeing and shopping, spending time at markets.

Would you suggest we get on the train straight away, or overnight in Malaga before spending time (what little we have of it!) in Barcelona?

We have never been to Spain.

    Thanks!

NCL is not honoring that statement on their website. They said that Canadians will need a visa to travel and that travellers could get denied entrance on the ship without a visa.  Even though it is before Oct. 1, I have not successfully been able to complete the online Visa application and I am nowhere near the embassy and leave for the cruise at the end of October.

If anyone hears anything definitive that visas are not required when arriving by ship, please let me know.

nicper what do you mean "NCL is not honoring that statement"  They confirmed that to me even through a phone call.  Do you have proof otherwise?  Please let me know!

    TIA

  11. For anyone travelling with NCL.  This is from their web site

Israeli passport holders require a visa for Egypt before the cruise.

No other nationalities require a visa to visit Egyptian ports by sea on a cruise ship. Some nationalities, such as Canadians, require a visa to fly to Egypt, but do not require a visa if entering Egypt by sea.

looks as though no visa necessary if not flying in and out of Egypt.
