Yes I will but after I told her she wants a "gel" coat so I do not know if Princess does that.

They do gel. But if she has gel on already, they will charge $25 to take it off then do the mani. I cancelled my mani when. Found out they charge to remove the old one.

  2. Thanks for the info.

This is is the first time doing a land tour before a cruise. Have done land tours before. I’m really looking forward to this trip. This trip is my retirement present to myself. I retired in June 2019 after 35 years of teaching. Looking forward to being able to cruise in other months besides Dec. and summer.  Oh and avoiding kids (besides my nephews/nieces and great n and n). Love kids, just not on my vacation. LOL

Thank you so much! Afternoon tea is now on my agenda.

I had offers from my friends to accompany me however I decided on want to try it on my own so I can do whatever I want and when I want. Thanks for your reply!

That is exactly why I prefer to do any traveling by myself!

  4. We sail primarily on Princess and have done the Eastern and Western Caribbean several times. Looking at a Mexican Riviera cruise out of Los Angeles in January to mix it up a little and try something new. Ports of call would be Cabo San Lucas, Puerto Vallarta, and Mazatlan. Anyone done this cruise that can give some feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Have done this cruise 5 times. I really like it. PV and Mazatlan are my favorites. Sometimes I do an excursion sometimes not. I love the market near the ship in PV. I really don't care for Cabo and often just stay on the ship. You have to tender to Cabo. While the ride in is usually fine it is pretty rough coming back to the ship. Plus I find Cabo way to like Los Angeles. I think you would like this one.

  5. 4 years ago I was to go to Alaska. I had the cancel for any reason insurance and was in the 100% no refund. My cat got extremely sick and was near death. I cancelled my cruise, used the insurance (for any reason) and got reimbursed the full fare except for $100. Can't remember what the $100 was for.

It took about 3 weeks for it to show on my credit card.

My agent did all the paperwork and we decided to be honest about the reason I had to cancel. She never had to use a pet for the reason and we debated if we should tell the true reason. I'm glad we did. She did say the insurance person she went through, offered best wishes for my beloved Tinker. Unfortunately she did die and I was so thankful I cancelled.

  6. I bought mine at $16/share which my dad thought was a waste. Between the rise in price, dividends, and OBC; this has been one of the best investments I have done. Only wish my dad was around to see that he taught me well about buying stocks. (Welll there have been a couple of duds but CCL is the one I brag about LOL)

  7. I'm going on my first cruise solo with Royal Caribbean in February, I have a standard cabin (not a studio) to myself (Single Supplement, so basically paying double), I am traveling with a group of other people from a local activity group. I did manage to buy the drink package for 30% off at least.

Has anyone who's traveled solo on these types of cruise ships gotten any "perks" from the cruise line. Example, an upgraded state room or even a comped meal in a specialty restaurant? Since I'm effectively paying for 2 people, I'm not going to be eating for two... So a perk or two would be nice. I assume that the answer is no, but there's no harm in asking.

I've been very fortunate. Out of 10 solo cruises, have been upgraded 8 times. Best one was a double upgrade---inside to obstructed view to balcony.

I cruise only with Princess. Guess they like me or something.

  8. I have traveled solo for all except two of my cruises. I certainly don't feel "left out". For dinner I don't mind sharing and tell the maitre' d, just no children. I participate in trivia, if I go. I talked with people and enjoy going to art auctions. I don't expect anyone to cater to me just because I am solo. I feel that it is my responsibility to blend in and don't expect special accommodations to be made for me. I like cruising solo and expect to do it for a very long time.

I also feel that every cruise is what you make of it.

  9. Can't imagine why it was delayed. I got off the Ruby yesterday, the 30th. In fact, they started disembarkation at least 25 minutes early. I was supposed to walk off at 810 and actually started at 740. Got my car at the hotel and was on the road at 815. Traffic was light (took the 110-405-5) and no delays.

The cruise was fantastic and did one excursion. A very very relaxing cruise for me.

  10. Plus since park west took over the art auctions it's a waste of time .

I agree. Used to love when Princess had their own but Park west leave a lot to be desired. The two auctioneers I have seen have been so arrogant and they do false advertising with their sales. The good thing is I have money for different things now.

  11. I'm sorry there were issues, already discussed. However, I take issue with your comment "I will not tolerate this..." Things do happen when you travel, either by air or ship, or car... How exactly would you not tolerate something if and when unexpected events occur? The only way of that happening is to stop traveling altogether....

I find it amazing that a threat can be said without hesitation. Things happen. I have learned to live with, there is nothing I can do, and it makes for a story when I get back home.

  12. Sorry to see this however no cruise line will wait if you are late unless you are on a ships tour and that it late returning.

I wonder how this turned out and how old the kids are.

OP the hubby also missed the ship. He got off to look for her and then they both were bumped.

Big question is why was she late??

    Probably shopping.

  13. Had an upsell call for my 2016 cruise (agent got it and called me). An 8 day cruise to Mexico. $150 to move from obstructed to balcony. Took it with no hesitation. First time I had to pay

I've been lucky. 5/6 cruises with a free upgrade.

  14. hmm going on the regal in twelve days and hoping its still in stock.

also for those who do have theirs, did they find it worth the money they paid for it?? i still have time to cancel my order, and wanted others opinions on it.

I started my bracelet on my last cruise. Got the 50th charm. As to your questions of if it is worth it. That depends on each individual. For me, yes. It is unique and not available anywhere else (except eBay, I suppose).
