Someone just told me on another discussion forum that if you book b2b cruises while on board at the next cruise desk, you only pay a deposit on the first cruise!  Has anyone experienced this?  Thanks!

I booked a back-to-back while on the Grandeur last week and had to pay a deposit for both cruises.

  2. Do you know Melvin's last name? Just wondering if it might be the same Melvin who was my waiter a few years ago. He was fantastic.

I thought the first production show was really good, but the others were ok. The music in the last two productions shows was just too loud for my taste. It actually made my ears hurt. I LOVED Dominick Allen. I thought his show was amazing. The others guest entertainers were good as well, although I missed the comedian because I was listening to music in the Rendezvous Lounge.

We didn't let the rain in Boston dampen (ha ha ha) our fun. We still got to see the city and it was an enjoyable day. All in all, a wonderful cruise!

  3. Just got off the Summit yesterday. Great cruise! Although it didn't have a good beginning. Unfortunately, I dropped my passport in the back of a cab. But there is a wonderful employee at the cruise terminal named John who knew someone who worked for the cab company and they were able to track down my cabbie who brought my passport back to me. It was a very stressful two hours of waiting, but John and the other employees at the terminal were fantastic. I'm normally very careful with my documents, but the cab ride threw me off. The cab was taped together with black electrician's tape (seriously!). The cabbie argued with me about where we were going. I finally got him to follow the directions I pulled up on my phone. But I'll forgive him since he brought my passport back to me.:):)clear.png?emoji-smile-1742:)

The best music I've heard for a while. Groove del Sur did a mix of pop and Latin songs. Everyone in the group was great, but the pianist, Valentino, was AMAZING! Paolo de Sousa was the vocalist/pianist. He was also AMAZING! The House Band Elite was great as was the Celebrity Orchestra. The orchestra would only practice with the stage acts for about an hour before the show and never missed a beat.

The Summit is showing some wear and tear, but she's clean and the crew keeps her in great shape. Everyone from the officers to crew were so friendly and helpful. There were too many nice folks to mention them all, but you can’t miss Donovan in the Ocean View. He’s always there with coffee/tea, a song, and a smile!

The food was very good, but one night things would be too salty and the next night not salty enough. There seemed to be some issues with Select Dining. Twice we were escorted to the dining room to be seated, but had to wait while they scrambled to get it done. This happened to other passengers as well. Better communication between the dining room and the front when coordinating tables is needed. No big deal except it felt a little awkward to stand in the middle of the dining room.

The shore excursion desk wasn’t always accurate with information. More than once that someone from my group would ask a question only to find out later that the answer was wrong. It caused a few problems along the way as one of our travelers has some mobility issues, and the information given to us was not correct. But we made it work.

A big negative was the constant hard sell of the specialty restaurants. I was asked five times in a span of 30 minutes one day at lunchtime if I wanted to go to Qsine or Tuscan Grille. It was very annoying.

I think I would give the cruise an eight out of 10. It wasn’t perfect, but I was on a ship for two weeks which made me happy. I didn’t have to grocery shop, cook, or clean and was greeted with a smile wherever I went. My bed was made every morning and turned down every night, and I had the rocking of the waves to put me to sleep at night. I would do the cruise again in a heartbeat!

I love the Millennium class ships and hope that Celebrity continues to update them and keep them in service.

  4. I love the Summit. It is older and showing a little wear and tear, but it is warm and charming and the service is wonderful. For a week or two out of my year, I don't have to think about cleaning the bathroom, making my bed, buying groceries, cooking my meals, doing the dishes, and on and on. Wonderful people from all over the world do all that for me and become friends as well. I can't wait until it's time to board the Summit again. :)

  5. I've lost count over how many threads I've read the past few days about how bad Celebrity is now. Poor food quality, buffet is terrible, specialty restaurants are not so special, rusty ships, bad customer service, etc., etc., etc. I'm expecting to see comments from people complaining that they got 1 ounce less champagne in their glass when they boarded....

Can anyone seriously point out something, anything, positive about Celebrity? The two cruises I've taken I definitely enjoyed them quite a bit and I look forward to the next one. Whatever problems/complaints I did have certainly won't stop me from sailing on Celebrity again. Overall, I love the experience Celebrity gives you.

Someone else must have a positive experience they can mention, right??

I just returned from 2 weeks on the Summit and while on board, booked my next cruise. I love the Summit. I thought the buffet was fine. They repeated a lot of things each day, but I wasn't going to eat everything in one day anyway. I would choose one thing one day, another option the next day, etc. The food in the main dining room was very good. The service was wonderful. Our waiter became our brother for the week. He had a wonderful sense of humor and worked very hard to describe the menu each night and give his recommendations. Our food was so hot when he brought it to the table we couldn't always eat right away. Our cabin steward was wonderful. She was a tiny little thing and we wondered how in the world she managed to do some of the work, but she did. And she was friendly. So yes, there are people who have had a positive experience on Celebrity. I was traveling with 5 other people and they all feel the same way. The Summit is older and is showing a little wear and tear, but it's clean and has charm. I always leave the Summit with "warm fuzzies" and can't wait to go back.

  6. I was on the April 26 and May 4 sailings of the Summit. They started changing the buffet at the end of the 2nd week. I noticed the head chef taking to the guy working at an egg station one morning. The chef was really giving the guy a hard time and not being very nice while telling him how things were to be set up. The waiter asked why things were being organized that way and the chef said something about it being policy. But we were still able to get hot French fries inside and there was sausage, bacon, etc. at the waffle station. At lunchtime, they sometimes had salads already in bowls on one side of the buffet, and a salad bar set up on the other side. French fries were served fresh to each passenger, not pre-plated. Hamburgers and hot dogs were served on plates. It sounds like there have been many more changes in the last week or so.

The Summit is my favorite ship so I hope they work out these issues.

  7. Just got back from the Summit, where they featured Sin City Comedy as a late night show. They had several performances because the lines were so huge to get in. But after seeing it, I was not impressed, and even a bit uncomfortable.

I am certainly not a prude, but I did not think the strip show, which is part of the act, is appropriate for a cruise ship. It really was an all-out strip show, where the lady stripped down from a man's hat, trousers and shirt ... to a thong and bikini top, while the song "It's a Man's World" played.

The comedy part was fine (I guess), but the stripper? Not cool. Not for a "classy" line like Celebrity.

    Anyone else share my opinion?

I was on the same cruise and didn't go to the show since it was billed as adult comedy but one of the comedians was in the farewell show doing clean comedy. I didn't think he was funny at all. I certainly would not have enjoyed a strip show.
