  1. Can you buy it in 12-pack cans and take it on with you? We've taken soda (not seltzer) on with us on previous cruises. Taped a room tag to it, did not tape the ends so they could see we had not opened it, and it appeared outside our room with luggage. Saves having to buy the soda package!

This is what we are doing. Went to the store and picked up our seltzer cases tonight.

  2. Earlier reports said that 90% of the island was without power. Hopefully that has changed now. For those of you who have sailed on the Dawn to Bermuda you may have seen the catamaran Rising Sun. A reporter said that it had been washed up on the rocks and then off onto Harbor Road.

I too saw the ambulance. Hopefully the worst is over for all of these folks and they can relax and enjoy their trips.

We are supposed to go on the Rising Son in 2 weeks. :( Disappointed as it looked like an awesome excursion.

  3. Both ships are in now, but I just saw an ambulance driving away from the Dawn with lights flashing.

Prayers for the sick one, and wishing a full and speedy recovery.

I could hear the sirens but didn't see if it was police or ambulance. I hope whoever is injured/sick is okay. Must have been extra scary for them and their loved ones as the ships had to circle for hours today.

  4. TS Fay is now Hurricane Fay...

Can you imagine the damage she could have inflicted to the Island if she had the force she has now....:(

Wow!! If that had happened, I'm not so sure we'd be going to Bermuda in a couple of weeks Sebas!

  5. Happily both ships are now in port. I'm sure that the passengers are relieved that they won't be bouncing around tonight.

You could hear pax of the Dawn cheering as they pulled into port. Even though the island is poorly damaged, I'm sure they are happy to have arrived.

  6. Might do some Christmas shopping while there. Will check out the pottery and glass shops as well as the rum cake shop. I assume the rum cake will last until Christmas (for gifts)? As long as I don't eat it first...lol

    That's my plan too!

  7. Update - I called and spoke to NCL Rep. They said that on their screen they show all my correct amenities but I told them my screen only shows Choc Covered Strawberries. She assured me that she sees my original amenities and that it may just be a small glitch. BTW - I was her first call regarding this matter.

All of our codes except strawberries disappeared too! Glad to know it's just a glitch!

  8. I get very sick on cruises and amusement rides. I have tried Bonine but even though they are non drowsy I find that they make me sleepy. I tried ginger pills at Islands of Adventures Harry Potter ride which I had ridden before and was sick for hours after and was stunned at how I could ride the ride with my eyes open and no sickness! So I just went on the POA and took 1 ginger pill with food 3 x a day........(I believe this was what the package recommended). I had no problems all week! I started the pills when I got on the ship and stopped when I got home. (I thought I would keep it going while on my flight home just in case that ride got bumpy as it was kind of bumpy going in to Maui and I was a little sick!) I bought my ginger pills at Walgreens. I also bought some ginger gum but never ended up using it.

I also get very sick on any type of motion, especially cruises. Did you take ginger vitamins or pills sold with the motion sickness medicine? Any idea the brand? I'm willing to try anything!

  9. On NCL's website, periodically, a link pops-up to "chat with an avid cruiser". It displays a woman smiling at the camera while holding onto her sunhat. Is NCL aware that the ship in the background behind is a Royal Caribbean vessel?

Probably not! Now I'm trying to get it to come up so I can see.

  10. I make a list of things that I'm worried I'll forget or are very important. As I purchase items for the cruise, I'll put things into a canvas bag and leave it in my closet. I'll pull out the suitcases about a week before and start packing.

I don't make a clothes list until closer to the cruise date. I'll make a clothes list for myself and one for my husband since I pack for both of us and my husband is not the best packer!

This year when we put our summer clothes into storage, we'll put our "must pack" items on the spare bed so we don't need to put them away only to take them out a few weeks later.
