That has been our experience too and why we haven't moved on to more premium lines like Viking Ocean and Oceania. The Retreat and Luminae have kept us loyal Celebrity customers. We have 6 future cruises booked on Celebrity Suites in the next 2 years, with more planned. We canceled an Oceania cruise this year to switch to the Reflection in August. The only reason we still have a HAL cruise booked this year was to use up a FCC and we have a suite booked with very very few amenities compared to Celebrity.

Funny you mention Viking Ocean.  We sailed with them in 2019 and it was the worst cruise experience we've ever had.  We're sailing with X again in a Retreat room for slightly less than the Viking cruise cost and are so excited to be on X again.

  2. We always like to give our stateroom attendant an additional cash tip.  This will be our first cruise to cover multiple currencies.  We are sailing to from Amsterdam to Denmark and Norway.  Should I tip in Euro, Kroner, or USD?  I don't know what the standard unit of pay is for Viking.

What do you think goes on in the kitchen of restaurants? Without question, the standards of cleanliness on the ship and by all the personnel preparing and serving your food are vastly superior to the controls in 95% of restaurants.

  4. I'd say go for it!  We're a young at heart early 40s couple and were on the very young end of a transatlantic crossing on the QM2, on which we had an absolutely wonderful time.  Don't worry too much about age differences.  We're taking our first Viking Ocean cruise in June 2019,  when is yours?  We're LGBT allies and totally ok with tattoos, piercings, and roller derby.
