  1. I was kinda afraid of that when I was reading it was just a temporary terminal. Might be the first and last time I sail out of JAX lol

    Thanks for the info.

    Batzo

Hey now, dont be too down on Jax! :(

We are building a whole new one that will be amazing. Dont say you wont sail out of jax again. ;)

  2. We printed ours on card stock, covered them with tape and stapled them on to our bags. They were still on the bags when we came home from the cruise.

That's exactly what we did. Use card stock paper. We didnt cut them out. We folded them to the correct lines, that way were even thicker. Slipped them around the handle of our luggage and stapled together with about 4 or 5 staples. (LOL) They worked perfectly.

If you are flying, of course wait until you get to your destination before you put them on. We put ours on at the airport terminal before we got in our taxi to the cruise terminal. (I brought one of those tiny staplers) That's when we also put luggage locks on. I hate the idea of my suitcase being left in the hallway or any where without locks on them.

    IRON:

I have read many posts where some people agree with bringing travel irons on and some who do not. To each his own. I bring my small travel iron. I keep it hidden in the room. If you bring one, REMEMBER to unplug it!

Also, I have found on other trips (non-cruise) that Downy wrinkle release works well too!!

  3. My husband and I just got off the ship this morning and we were in Cabin 8232. Our cabin steward, Anthony, was fabulous. Any request we made was handled quickly. We were discussing cabin stewards with our tablemates a few nights into the cruise and they commented how pleased they were with their steward. He rearranged their minibar so their champagne would be chilled when they returned from dinner the first night and had flutes waiting for them when they returned to their cabin. As it turned out, they were 3 doors down from us and Anthony was also their steward.

While older photos of the Legend do indeed show lounge chairs on this cabin's balcony, they are no longer there. Nor were they on the extended balcony beside ours either.

Glad to hear you liked Anthony. Sorry, but we didnt. Like I said in my previous post, the first thing he told us were his hours and to only call him for an emergency between the hours of 12:30 and 5:30. The toilet broke around 3 and it took him until 5:30 to call us back. And BTW: when we did call him, the phone would ring and then someone would pick up and then hang up.

Also, Anthony TOLD us that morning that the chairs were a fire hazzard so he took them out THAT morning we arrived. AND he told us that the people next to us had newer lounge chairs but there werent any more. The whole thing was fishy. If they werent in the room next to you, then he must have taken those out as well. All I know is what he told us.

Our tables mates had him as well and liked him. They joked with us and said maybe we should have slipped him some money on the first day to take care of us. Well I'm sorry but that's not how we work. We feel that if you do your "JOB" and take care of us the whole week, THEN you get a BIG tip. Not before.

  4. Is it safe to book a flight home at 11:15? How soon could we get off the ship and get to the Tampa airport? Are suite passengers allowed to get off first? TIAFAR.

update...After reading a lot of the recent member reviews, it looks like the self-disembarkation gets you off quite fast. Gotta give credit to Carnival for trying something new. I've never heard of that method before. It also helps that you can keep your bags in your room the last night. How many passengers would you say use this method? If a lot, then I would think the hallways and elevators could get quite jammed in the mornings.

The new disembarkation process is wonderful! I will say there were alot of people doing the self thing. Quite busy for shuttles and taxi's first thing. But I do believe they started that at 8 like the person before me said. We did not do the self disembark. The luggage tags they give you the night before have zone numbers on them. We were in zone 5 and the first group 1 thru 5 was called at 9:30. (not sure how they pick zones, we were on floor 8 so maybe they go top to bottom) When your zone is called you go down to floor 2 (where you got on) and go into the port warehouse thing where all the luggage is by ZONE NUMBER. VERY EASY! We got our luggage right away and straight thru customs. Remember to have your declaration papers out and ready at this point. (they give them to you the night before with everything else. Everyone must fill them out no matter if you have something to declare or not and one per family/last name) Then its straight out the door and there are the shuttles and taxi's. Very glad they are doing it by zone now and not just by color.

When you do first get to the port in Tampa, you will see out very easy it is and how close everything is.

Our flight back wasnt until 5:30 so we paid $7 per person, not per bag, for the port authority to hold our bags, walked across the street to the Aquarium, spent about an hour and a half there and then took a taxi to the airport. We arrived at the airport at 11:45. The trip from the airport to the port is about a 10/15 min drive. TAKE A TAXI if you havent already purchased transfers thru carnival. MUCH CHEAPER! The transfer is about 34 or 36 a person and the taxi is one flate rate/no meter of $22 period, not per person.

We originally had a flight choice of a 10:30 flight or 5:30. I didnt want to push our luck and have something happen that would hinder us from making the 10:30 flight so that's why we went with the 5:30. I'm sure now if we did the self disembark, we may have made the earlier flight. But it was nice to just take our time. NOTE: if you chose to take a later flight, you can not check in your bags at the airport until 4 hours prior to your flight. When we got to the airport, we checked ourselves in but could not check our bags until 1:30....we rented one of those carts and just wheeled it around for a while. NICE BIG AIRPORT. They have a TGIFridays and other places. Shops etc.

Sorry this is so long. Just wanted to give you some information. So its really up to you if you want to take the earlier flight. Like I said, I didnt want to chance it.

Good Luck and have a great trip!

(hint: if you drink, the girl bartendar with short dirty blond hair at the aft/adult pool is awesome! She makes really good ones!) :D

  5. Hello!

I am writing with a question about toiletries. I DID search and see that someone had a romance novel, 2 pieces of gum, some pepcid AC, and other assorted things. However, what I would like to know and haven't been able to find is this:

Do they provide shampoo/cond/lotion/soap? I would imagine so but you never know... I don't want to get somewhere and not have enough lotion for a week! Is it restocked daily? (I know, I should just bring some, but my scuba gear is putting me TOOCLOSE to the weight limit so I am trying to pare down everything I can.)

Just was on the legend a few days ago:

There are 2 dispensers in the shower. However in ours, only one was actually labeled as shampoo, the other was missing the label. I always bring my own because I dont know what brand they use. Also, my guess is that the other one was soap, not conditioner.

We had some samples and they were:

pepcid complete, olay quench body lotion (small), 4 small, flat samples of toothpaste, and a his and hers razor by bic.

Like previous poster, they could change.

I would suggest bringing your own stuff but in travel sizes. In walmart and Target they have that bin isle where most things are $1 or less.

    have a good trip.

  6. quick question for ya'all.... I'm working on my door sign for the Legend Christmas cruise, and don't know whether to print it on magnetic paper or not. Can someone tell me if the doors on the the Legend are metal, or should I just bring my tape ???

    PMC7704:

I believe a while back you asked me to let you know how room 8232 was.....(if this wasnt you, sorry)

8232 was good. You dont back up to the laundry room like our TA said, instead you back up to the ice machine area for the stewards. BUT, the machine sits back in their room quite a ways so we never heard it. The only thing we did hear was the people's kids next door on the other side.

With the extended balcony, we only got 2 chairs for this long balcony. We were supposed to have 2 lounge chairs as well but the steward said they were a fire hazzard so they had to take them out.....but the people next to us had them. So the balcony was very roomy but we never made it to the other end because there was nothing down there. Hope you get some lounge chairs when you go. (if not, demand them. we asked but were told no)

Also, I see you still have a ways till your legend cruise and I know the crew switch out every six months.....so I dont know if you will have our steward but let me tell you a few things about him: (This is if you have him) His name is Anthony. The first thing he will tell you are his hours. So this was a hint not to call him between 12:30 and 5:30. Our toilet broke twice. (not from us, just on its own) The second time it took Anthony an hour and a half to call us back and by then it was 5:30 (his "on" time)

We only saw him 3 times and he never spoke unless we spoke to him.

Hopefully you will get someone else.

We found this whole ship to be a "so-so" on our list. I havent had the time to write a review yet, but it will come soon and I will list everything.....good and bad.

Overall, make the most of it like we did. :)

  7. Well Carnival has offically changed the itineraries for the 08/18 and 08/19 sailings:

    http://www.carnival.com/CMS/static_t...er_update.aspx

We sail that next week (08/26). Cozumel, Costa Maya, Belize, and Grand Cayman. I guess its up to the port and city if they can handle cruise passengers then....that is if they have power and arent demolished.

Otherwise, our itinerary will more than likely be the same as the 08/19 cruise.

    On a lighter note:

I have heard the seas are much calmer after the storm goes thru but snorkeling is awful....everything is jumbled up.

Have a great trip everyone! Be safe!

  8. Great idea. Thanks for your help.

My family of five are taking our first cruise on Carnival’s Legend in February 08. It is also our 25th anniversary. We are as giddy as school children and very curious and interested in what awaits us. Wondering if you could offer answers to any of these questions any any other Legend related information for that matter..

    • Did anyone on your cruise arrive back at the dock late after a day with Cave Tubing.com in Belize and therefore missed the sailing? This scares me.
    • Is sushi served on the ship? My son loves it!!
    • Any advice on the best port of call for parasailing? What can we expect to pay?
    • What is the price for the carbonated drink card?
    • Is there access to an iron and ironing board (I was told to ask!!!)

This is my first posting on this site, so if I have violated any rules, please forgive me.

Thanks for your help. Hope you had a fantastic time.

We cruise on the legend in 12 days. To sort of answer your first question, Yhonny from cave-tubing.com says they have you back to the pier between 2:30 and 3:30. Which is plenty of time when you have to be onboard by 5.

Second, from what I've read on here and on carnival.com, YES there is sushi!! YAY!

Other questions: do a search on Cruise Critic...you will find out LOTS of information!

    Have a wondertul trip!

  9. Just found out our cabin number :D Does anyone know anything about cabin 7239??? I checked carnival site. The cabin has a star by it.

Is it a extended balcony cabin?

Does anyone know where the self laundermat is located? Now that the cabin has been assigned, can it change?? we cruise in november.

is this a good location??? Seems like the cruise is actually just around the corner, compare to when we booked it.

    About the laundry:

On the ships layout and on your level, from your room go down to the next set of elevators, between rooms 7258 and 7260 there should be a laundry room.

I'm about 95% sure of this because on the legend we have room 8232 which is 7258 on your level and our TA said that white square is the laundry room....so I'm sure its in the same location as on our level.

  10. Cruisers7771,

We had 8232 on Miracle which is the same class ship. The balcony was wider and 3 times as long. We had the usual furniture plus 2 loungers and it was still roomy. You can see pics in my Miracle Review.

The only thing we didn't like was that it was set in so you couldn't see to the front of the ship and there was a little chair scraping noise from Lido in the morning, only heard it outside, not in the room.

Thanks sallyb! Wow, that's a long balcony! Very roomy! Great pictures too!

  11. Let me know how you liked it when you get back (if you remember) I've got the same room booked for our December cruise on the Legend.

Sure! No problem. I know its next to the laundry room and I was nervous of that because of noise. But the lady at Carnival said its not noisy at all. Well, we will see. I dont think people will be doing laundry every day......I hope not!

If you look at that room on the ships layout on the carnival website, its that big, white, empty part next to our room. We figured it would either be a wall or some kind of community room so thats why we asked and found out it was the laundry room.

Our cruise is August 26th so I will let you know after then!

    Have a great trip!
