  1. Hello,

My parents are taking their first solo cruise.  They are in their early 70s.  Mom has issues getting around, she can walk but not for a long period of time.  What would be a good site seeing excursion. They are going on Carnival in a few weeks.

I believe that was an old Coral Breeze excursion.  Went to Bannister Island, now Starfish Island, or maybe under a different name.  Ownership seems to change over time. Not sure if Coral Breeze still runs the excursion.

If you google Belize manatee excursions you'll get several sites.  Not all go snorkeling afterward though.

    Thank you!

  3. I went to Belize 8 years ago.  We took an excursion that took us through the mangroves and we got to see manatees.  We then went snorkeling and to a private island.  I can not remember the name of the company we used and can't seem to find one similar.  Does anyone have an ideas?  We would like to take a boat ride to a private island beach break and along the way stop and see manatees?

We are going in July with our two kids (7,9).

Thank you for any help and ideas.

  4. We took my daughter on her firs cruise around 9 month old.  We tried to go in the pool and they made us get out of the pool area. Only potty trained kids are allowed. So maybe if you are just doing feet they may allow it, but it didn't work for us.  Cruising with a baby had a few challenges, but over all was pretty simple. Washing bottles was a challenge, but we made it work. You all including the baby will love it.

  5. I have searched and searched for recent information about Carnival Freedom and cant find what I am looking for.  I will be sailing on the May 25th sailing.  Its an 8 day cruise going to Key West, Nassau, Freeport and HMC.  I would love any recent information about the cruise. Ex: menus, fun times, what shows are playing.

    Thank you in advance.

I live in the area, and I don’t think that any hotel in Texas City shuttles to the ship. Have you considered Uber from Texas City to Galveston? It’s not horribly far.

Thank you for your response.  I will looking into the UBER.

  7. I will be flying into HOU in May and plan on renting a car.  I noticed that I can only return the car to Texas City.  Does anyone know of a hotel there that shuttles to the cruise port?  Thank you for your help.  Last time we took Carnivals shuttle and it was an awful experience.  We waited at the airport for several hours for the shuttle.

  8. I am a carnival lover (been on 13) but we are looking at liberty of the seas for an October sailing. (We waited too long and carnival is pretty picked over from Galveston)

I am curious if anyone has done both lines and can compare them. I am worried about food quality of royal. The pictures don't look that appealing. And also availability too see the shows. I keep reading something about having to get tickets. Carnival is just easier to understand. It will be myself, husband and two kiddos ( 4 and 6)

    Thank you in advance

  9. We have never cruised with royal before and we are trying to figure the food situation out. We have cruised with carnival many times where most food is free and available throughout the night. My husband is a night owl and is worried there won't be food options late at night. Is there food 24 hours beside room service? Thank you for your input. Also any info for a newbie would be appreciated as well

  10. I am leaving this Saturday (OOOHHHHHH yeahhhh!!!!) for my cruise on the triumph. I bought carnivals transfers, but it says they don't start transferring until 10. We get there at 8.

Does anyone know if they start earlier or do we need to find something to do for a few hours (in the airport of course)?

    Thanks

  11. Thanks for the reply. I agree a day at the beach is better than almost everything.

I am considering just going to the free beach because I have heard so many negative things about technotel, but I really don't want to deal with the vendors.

Have you been to the free beach. I don't mind an occasional vendor but don't want to be bombarded by them. I have two small kids and that worries me.

  12. I was going to book the autoprogreso tour to the technotel beach. But I have been reading some bad things on here and now I am not sure what to do. I heard the food was horrible, only had one type of beer, no free margaritas, and the drive was well over 30 minutes.

Not sure what to think. If you have any input I would be very appreciative. I have a 2 year old and an almost 4 year old so any input about taking kids here would be welcome also.

  13. Hey guys I have a quick question. I am flying into Houston Hobby and then will be transferred to Galveston. My kiddos are 3 1/2 and almost 2. Do I need a car seat on carnival transfers? I will be renting one from alamo when we rent a car after the cruise (staying a few extra days) But i wasn't sure about the transfers. I am assuming its a bus with no seat belts.

    Thanks in advance

  14. We like Gaido's Seaside Inn too. We stay there, leave the car & take a cab to the ship. :D Check out their web site for pics. Just walk across the street for a walk on the beach. :p

How hard is it to get a cab back to the hotel after the cruise?

  15. DH and I and a friend are cruising B2B on the Glory October 18th and 25th this year. Our friend has back issues and in the past, she has slept on the sofa bed, but found it really uncomfortable, even with the egg shell. So this time we booked cabin 1064 which has an upper birth. My question: are these more comfortable? I presume they have a mattress? Any help would be appreciated.

I have found the couch to be more comfortable. The ladder to get in the upper is very steep not sure if that would bother your friend.

  16. My wife and I did the Triumph on June 2. My wife had always been ambivalent about cruising until she did this one. Now I've created a monster. She is already planning our next. :p

We live in Houston so the 45min trip to the Galveston Park n Cruise was easy. We got to the cruise terminal about 1:30 and were on the ship by 2:45. We went straight to our rooms. They had a solo supplement waiver promotion on this cruise so I got two rooms next to each other. (didn't have to listen to my snoring) I really wanted her to relax. We went to the dining room every night but one. Food was decent and service was great. Dinning together at our table for two and looking across at my beautiful wife of many, many years would have made any meal a gourmet feast. The ship was clean and bustling as usual. I always marvel that you can have so many people from different countries and cultures and there be no issues. How do they do it?

The weather was overcast for the first few days but that didn't dampen our spirits. We spent a lot of time on deck 3 just reading, talking and dozing. It was simply heaven. Went to the comedy club for the the family style show. The lady

was no big deal but the guy was pretty good.

In Progresso we had side by side hour long messages by the ladies with hands like hubcaps. $20.00 @ hr. And that is why I go to Progresson.

In Cozumel we shopped, snorkeled and ate. A really wonderful day.

We went to the Newlywed or marriage game or whatever they call it. Jen, the cruise director, was there as usual. I had seen it the year before and I swear I heard the same answers I had before. What's up with that! They had a real attractive couple who had gotten married only 4 days before. They had a question that if sex were $1,000 how rich would you be this week. They both said $2000. I'm no love machine but all things being equal these guys were working for minimum wage.

The magic show was the same routine I had seen two years ago. Sort of stale and disappointing really. The wife and I

pretty well figured out his tricks with the exception of one or two.

More reading, talking and dozing on deck 3 on the way back home.

I think that the 5 day out out of Galveston on the Triumph has got to be one of the best all around cruises that Carnival offers. Good ship and great price. Entertainment could be better ... just saying.

Do you remember the other show? I love them but we get tired of the same shows over and over
